  1. This is not a knee jerk to Sunday's game but I've now thought for some time in Hogans absence that our attack is better, more unpredictable without hogan than with him.

Sure he is great one-out but it's the second efforts, pressure acts and body language that he lacks that lets us down.

At risk of causing the biggest outrage since we traded woewodin, I think we should be pulling out all stops to recruit Leever, trade hogan and play T-Mac forward permanently with Weid, Pedo and watts on the wing/flank.

If we don't get Leever I still stand by trading Hogan at season's end provided we re-sign Frost.

  2. Kurt Tippett is a ruck- forward which is what we need.

Charlie Dixon showed last night what a weapon a huge unit can do in the fwd line.

We all probably agree that gawn-pedo is our best ruck combination with either one able to rest forward but for some reason pedo only gets a go when we are desparate. Taking this into account plus Pedo's age, if Sydney footed part of the wage bill why wouldn't we look at tippet as an upsize for next season?

  3. Watts and Gawn made obvious decisions over the last off season to harden up and play 2016 with more aggression and vigour.

It got me thinking about what Trenners needs to do to get back in starting 22. I think he plays too 'safe' and needs to get closer to the line with his aggression on the ball (like Viney) and on the man (like Vince).

Jones, Vince, vanders, Jetta, Gawn all play   with the required level of mongrel - Trengove needs to take a leaf...

  4. Regardless of what Frawley does at season's end is now the time to start thinking of bolstering our key defensive stocks? Who is next in line behind T-mac? Grimes would have to be on the radar...?

  5. 2 weeks ago I would have had McKenzie comfortably in front of Nicholson as the team's preferred tagger but after watching Nicholson play on Griffin on Saturday I am now not so sure.

Nicholson appears to have more pace and endurance whilst McKenzie has more size and strength. The team cant carry both if it wants to improve and it will be interested to see who will last longer.

  6. They dont play exactly the same position but both are key defenders in their respective line ups.

My view is that Garland is the better player in his own right but Nick Maxwell looks good because of the support around him from both the other defenders (Reid, Toovey, Brown and Shaw etc) and their mids (Swan, Pendles etc). Would be interested to hear what other 'landers think.

  7. Based on my limited viewing of the Scorpions games, if you had to ask me who was a better player out of Cook and Williams, then I would have to say Williams.

Granted that Cook was a first round pick and Williams was plucked from obscurity onto the rookie list, my view is that we have two players essentially competing for a key forward position in the team. Williams looks bigger (may not be quite as tall) and certainly stronger. He also knows where the goals are and appeared to be a reasonable set shot.

I would be interested to hear a case (if any) for keeping Cook over Williams.
