  1. For me pick 2 & 3 for Danger alone is paying overs. Pick 2 & a player (Toumpas or Trengove) for Dangerfield is ideal, leaving pick 3 to scoop Carlton for Tom Mitchell. Alternatively if the same picks and player as above can be used in a different order e.g Picks 2 & 3 for Dangerfield and Adelaide's Pick 10 which is traded onto Sydney with say Toumpas, I would be happy. As long as we can acquire two high end players with the proposed picks 2 & 3 I'm happy. Only one will not be good enough for me - play hard ball Dees.
  2. Have to agree, and I hope it's not aswell. As much as I would want Danger, I would be livid if the club threw those picks at him (on the basis we get band 1 for Frawley). We are hearing Carlton are throwing pick 6 (pick 7 if we get Frawley compo) at Tom Mitchell, I would rather use our second pick 3 at him - scooping the Blues, and use pick 2 and a player (Trengove or Toumpas) for Dangerfield.
  3. For those of you who missed Dangerfield on the footy show last night here is what he said (typed and audio down the bottom of the link): http://www.afc.com.au/news/2014-09-19/coach-call-came-from-top
  4. As I said I hope I'm wrong. Time will tell.
  5. Just watched Dangerfield on the AFL footy show. He is clearly llivid by Sanderson's sacking but spoke very firmly about staying united at the Crows. By the way he spoke and the way he spoke about his love for Adelaide I don't think we'll be able to draw him over this year. I hope I'm wrong but I am certainly not getting excited about it any more.
  6. Well said AF and I agree completely. Even though Dangerfield would rate as a better player, for me Jones is completely off the table. I don't care who he would be traded for, it would damage any culture we have been struggling to build - both internally and externally. For me he is an under valued A grader of the competition and would rather see the club target gun midfielders like Dangerfield to join him and the developing Tyson and Viney.
  7. I would love to get a ball park figure on what they're on. I don't think I would be happy with a second round pick but wouldn't mind seeing them incorporated into a trade to get proven AFL talent/ stars (Dangerfield or Cameron).
  8. I think the prospect of incorporating Trengove in a trade is very interesting. My original thought was an outright no, I have really liked Trengove and want to see him come good after his foot injury. Although I then realized he would be one of the highest paid players at the club (alongside Frawley, Clark, and Jones) - since he was last signed during the $cully fiasco. Based on this and the likely fact that both Frawley and Clark will be off our list we will have a ridiculously large sum of cash to chase high end targets. The last I saw on here was the rumoured offer on the Crows table of pick 2 and Trengove for Dangerfield, having Trengove in that deal will still allow us plenty of cash to chase another high end target (Cameron or secondly Mitchell) with the use of pick 3. So I'm all for it (based on the acquired high end player). I'm curious what all your thoughts are for Trengove as trade bait?
  9. The article is certainly interesting, especially considering it stated that both parties felt the need to part ways. I'm curious if our rumoured offer for Dangerfield (pick 2 and Trengove) had anything to do with this being Adelaide's star player and an offer almost never seen before.
  10. Fantastic news! Improves our chances of acquiring Dangerfield.
  11. Dag nabbit, I knew something didn't seem right about that. Cheers, i'll fix it up and alter my "My highly/ ridiculously unlikely, unrealistic draft / trade situation is"
  12. My highly/ ridiculously unlikely, unrealistic draft / trade situation is: Dees get a start of first round Priority Pick behind our first selection, Frawley leaves and we gain a band 1 compensation pick directly behind our first selection. Stretch must be taken with our early second round pick under the F/S rule (however would love it to be in the third round if we lucked out). We have three first round picks at 2,3, and 4, plus a 3rd, 4th, and 5th round pick in the National Draft. Pick 2 & Trengove get traded to Adelaide for Patrick Dangerfield. Pick 3, 4 & our Third Round pick get traded to GWS for Jeremy Cameron, Pick 5, and Sam Frost. Jimmy Toumpas is directly traded to GWS for Jonathan O'Rourke, GWS would suit Toumpas with a reduction of external pressures, media spotlight, and Wines comparisons. Alternatively O'Rourke has expressed a desire to return to Victoria. Pick 5 is traded to Sydney for Tom Mitchell, also relieving their somewhat bursting salary cap. Use our early fourth round pick to trade/ downgrade to late fourth or early fifth round pick to get the above deals over the line. Mitch Clark (with his desire to leave) is also put up for trade bait, either he or the draft selections obtained are also used to help get a deal above over the line. IN: Dangerfield, Cameron, Mitchell, O'Rourke, Frost. OUT: Pick 2, Pick 3 (PP), Pick 4 (Frawley), Third Round Pick, Trengove, Toumpas, Clark. Two other draftees (compulsory with the addition of Stretch) are selected late in the National Draft.
  13. How Nick Riewoldt is VC I do not know, especially considering his team finished at the bottom. Let alone named, I would of had Franklin at CHF with Hawkins at FF. Then there's Heppel and Bruest, I would have easily rated Parker ahead of those two. Yes Heppel had a good season but he's a turn over specialist - he certainly didn't warrant AA selection. As for Rance give me a break. Hooker should have been named at CHB with Harry Taylor taking Rance's name and placed in Hooker's spot.
  14. Now you're just getting on your high horse. Go back a re-read and interpret what I stated regarding the exchange of later picks, I stated "- hopefully in our favour" that part is my bias desire NOT my belief on the eventual if any trade.
  15. I also ask you, while he refuses to re-sign a year early do you think the MFC should just ignore that because "he was AA and almost won a Coleman" and thus too hard or even too expensive to get?
  16. I'm only passing on what I've heard. The questions are: Is he home sick? and does he want out? He is out of contract next year and GWS are so far unable to convince him to re-sign. The last thing they'll want is to drag out next year with the media and the 17 other clubs circling or having him threaten to walk into the draft. If he outright refuses to re-sign and opts for a trade a year in advance they (GWS) may be able to get the best deal with us while we have picks 2 and presumably 3. Btw. I look forward to reading your intel.
  17. Let both go to the draft.
  18. I must say I love the thread P-man, along with the witty title. I'm sure at some point I'll be sitting here on the couch.
  19. I'm a big fan of Kent and always have been ever since I saw that initial U18 video released by the MFC when he was drafted. I really admire his ability to back himself and take the game on and sometime that somewhat selfish attitude (meant in a good way) to have a crack at the goals, or alternatively send those beautiful kicks off to a player (Tom McDonald) at the top of the square. When he's out on the ground or has the ball I am always confident that he'll use it well or generally make the correct decision. I also ran into him in the airport last year post season heading back home over to Perth and he seemed like a good young bloke with the few words we exchanged.
  20. As strange as this sounds coming from a FB page, I can confirm this rumour. I was informed a number of weeks ago by someone associated with the inner sanctum of the club that we were going hard after Jeremy Cameron and that it was sounding promising. This was prior to/ around the time of the Dogs targeting Patton and then him going down with an ACL, so I'm not exactly sure where their intentions now lay or if that effects our chances of securing the in contract Cameron as the Dogs may now also be chasing him. With regards to picks and what's involved I didn't and still don't know but it's blatantly obvious that if this was to eventuate our first pick would certainly be involved. As for Frost I have heard nothing other than the associated newspaper article that we were looking at him to replace Frawley, so the trade proposed above makes sense and fits well with the murmurous I've heard. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if it was more along the lines of our picks 2, 3 (if we get it), and 3rd rounder to GWS for Cameron, pick 4, and Frost. An exchange of later picks may also be involved - hopefully to our advantage.
  21. Ryder or Leuenberger - I would happily have either. Even though we have stated we need midfielders, we are certainly in need of a better ruckman. Jamar will be in his last year and may struggle, Gawn looks promising but not there yet, I don't think Spencer or Fitzpatrick will ever make it in that role and Clark retired and doesn't look to be on our list next year. Keep in mind midfielder development goes hand in hand with winning the tapouts and clearances generated by the ruckman. A fine example is the vast improvement of the GWS midfield with the acquisition of Mumford.
  22. Blame Neeld for that. The vast majority of recruiting staff wanted Wines over Toumpas, many had felt Toumpas peaked as a 17 yo. Neeld felt he had greater "character and personality" over Wines and in the end the head coach gets the final say.
  23. No and no. If Lumumba wants out let him walk into the pre-season draft, nothing further should be offered. He wanting to leave is a Collingwood problem, if we want him we should capitalize on their problem.
  24. If Mitch feels that a new start within Victoria for a club other than the MFC is beneficial, I feel sorry for him. It's like everything, I've heard it before with other people and I'm sure a few of you have heard similar, "I need to get away" "I need a fresh start" "I'll move to the country", those people that do that will feel great for a week or two or a month but shortly after the same thoughts and the same problems will reoccur and come back and there they are again. If he want's to play AFL there is only one place that will give him full support from an internal and external perspective and that's the MFC (saying that with bias aside and from a logical perspective). The backlash for moving will be horrendous, he will cause himself more harm than good and I doubt he will have the support network he created here. I really hope he remains a Dee, for all our sakes, I would hate to see him leave I would feel it as a greater kick in the guts than the $cully fiasco and consequently I would hate to see the abuse he would cop - particularly if he relapsed.
