  1. Nice post Norm Smith's Curse. I tweeted your post to stir the pot through twitterverse amognst the journos. Eventhough the Dawks may have been trying to be respectful by taking it down, I like Tony Tea's post above considering it as sneaky so I thought I'de get in early... and it worked! Many considering it as sneaky or a "different set of rules for the hawks". Stuff the bast****
  2. For me I really hope we can pick up Nakia Cockatoo with a late teens or early second round pick. I think this year he is the gem that will slide, the one in years to come that will be in the same category as your Shuey, Zaharakis, D.Beams & Hannebery (all went at #19, #23, #29, #30 in the 2008 draft). He was forgotten throughout the year due to injury, came down and in his first game back had a blinder in the GF opener. By all reports and as tested he has an excellent kick, previously said to have clean hands (wasn't in the top of the testing order), that rare Dangerfield/ Judd sprinting speed where he tucks it under the arm and is off, bloody strong and solid build & height 188 cm (will easily and quickly bulk up further - ready for AFL), and he's not afraid to get his nose dirty on the inside by winning the contested ball. Secondly to all that he appears to have a fantastic personality and as reported very coachable. I can only presume the one thing currently limiting his potential is his endurance due to a year struck down by injury. If so I have no doubt once in the correct AFL environment that will improve. He for me is the one name, highest on my order I would love to see the club get (late teens or early second round pick).
  3. What about this version, problem solved! It’s a grand old flag It’s a high flying flag It’s the emblem for me and for you It’s the emblem of the team we love The team of the Red and the Blue Ev’ry heart beats true For the Red and the Blue And we sing this song to you (What do we sing!) Should old acquaintance be forgot Keep your eye on the Red and the Blue ....... Owww wait it sounds a little too familiar. Leave it alone you muppets.
  4. Absolutely horrible news. R.I.P to a true legend and true gentleman.
  5. Cross, Dunn, Jetta or even Hogan perhaps?
  6. There's a hole in the demonland banner.
  7. I'm curious what the risk is as to why his sliding? I haven't seen it anywhere. Is it simply a lack of exposure and injury because if that's it his upside is far greater. Skill wise he seems like he could be a top 10 pick, good kick, clean hands versitile, quick, can play inside outside ect. Said to be very coachable (read above) but am curious what the actual risks are? If it's the old indigenous card Neville Jetta and Aaron Davey went fine for me. I'm looking forward to learn more.
  8. I hope they have to pay him out, Bomber leaves for GC and they go on the hunt for a new coach. Knowing these flogs they'll then try and apply an out of contract clause similar to what Ryder is using so they avoid the pay out. Then they'll hit rock bottom (for once) and apply for a priority pick due to "all the stress". DAM I hate that club!
  9. Knowing our luck if we were to go down this path one will become an absolute star of the game - that game changer we needed, while the other is nothing more than depth and the one we selected. Everyone then harps on as to why we didn't pick player X instead of player Y.
  10. Sheehan yesterday: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-09-30/stretch-a-genuine-afl-talent-sheehan Footage and interview at ~ 5:20 mark: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-10-01/us-prospect-smashes-combine-record
  11. First things first. I know very little about him but from what I've picked up on and heard over the last few days he seems exciting and very likely to slide. Appears to have been injured all year, played his first game back in the All-Stars team in the AFL GF curtain raiser and starred with a BOG. From the limited footage I've seen he has that incredible break away dash and looks and sounds like he plays well on the inside. Also interviewed nicely and appears to have a good head on his shoulders. Shifter Sheehan claims he should be around the mark of our second round pick as he predicted the Dees current selections (with available picks) while talking to Matt Burgan. I look forward to seeing what eventuates with this young man. Also what a name eh.... P.S I figured this thread will start sooner or later, please share what you know on him.
  12. I considered the GC Suns to be progressing quite well under Bluey. I can only presume that they had lined up a better coach (e.g. Thompson) behind the scenes to take over before laying him off. Needless to say he shouldn't have any issues at getting an assistant role else where, his development of that young list has been superb IMO.
  13. Funny that, Collingwood don't find pick 4 alone acceptable for Dayne Beams the one time All Australian approaching his prime. While on the contrary pick 3 compensation is far too much for our one time all Australian in his prime??? Countless times we have seen him shut down key forwards like that of Franklin and J.Riewoldt. Any top four side would love him as he may be that vital difference that will shut down an opposing power forward and be vital in a win come late September. Band 1 compensation (translating to Pick 3) is the only reasonable form of compensation.
  14. MFC Rollercoaster: Down (Judd), Down ($cully), Up/ Loop (Roos), Down (Tanking), Up/ Triple Corkscrew (Dangerfield).
  15. Finally someone making sense on here (as always AF). I will be waiting for an official club release regarding his status before I jump to conclusions.
  16. Well said and most often the case, however there are the odd few reputable posters that have proven to inform us of an upcoming trade, signing, or movement before it eventuates.
  17. With that said Jon Ralph is one of the only journos that seems to support us, particularly when there was talk around the priority pick. He is one journo I'm not going to nick pick or attack.
  18. I found some of these to be very suprising. I thought Burbury seemed quite good, along with Schroder. Shame we re-signed Terlich so soon, I would have had one of the two above over him.
  19. Heard it on the radio... F*** the AFL. Considering we didn't qualify they may as well scrap the possibility of a PP altogether.
  20. From a playing/ talent perspective, I would rather give up Toumpas. I would also love to silence all the Wines over Toumpas claims. Secondly I like Trengove's ability to lay tackles and shut down players, I think he can improve his inside game and get some of that old form back and improve it further. His leadership traits are also good to have. Although Trengove's navicular injury is a massive concern and I hope he can honestly make a full recovery wherever he ends up. Furthermore he would be in the top 5 of highest paid players at the club so if he is traded we will gain further salary cap relief to target another quality player. Either or for me really but if I had to pick one, I would rather keep Trengove on the basis his injury is progressing extremely well.
  21. Let's say they make another push for finals next year (if he was to stay) but I highly doubt they would finish top 4 and probably just scrape into the 8. They would be getting ~ pick 10. Next year their compensation would likely range anywhere from Pick 5 - Pick 12.
  22. LET'S DO THE MATHS! I think we have to calculate how Adelaide can get a better deal this year than if they are to lose him to Free Agency next year. If they lost him next year to us or anyone else they would get a band 1 compensation - on the basis it's still around. That would be the pick directly after their first pick in the 2015 National Draft. So if they were to finish on the bottom of the ladder - with Dangerfield playing at the crows in 2015, they would get pick 2 (only) as FA compensation. In saying that if he played there next year (alongside Sloane, Walker, Talia, Smith, B.Crouch, Jacobs, etc.) I highly doubt they would finish anywhere in the bottom 3 let alone the bottom 5. Therefore at best, they would be getting ~ Pick 6 for Dangerfield in 2015. So pick 2 alone in 2014 could honestly be enough, that is already far higher than what they'll be getting in 2015. However a sweetener (like a player) will be required because what would stop the Saints jumping in and offering Pick 1. In saying that pick 2 and 3 is completely ludicrous! YES I want Dangerfield as much as the rest of you, however based on the mathematics, pick 2 & 3 bares far too much currency where each can be used individually to attract an A or soon to be A grader of the competition with additional player or later pick sweeteners.
  23. Hahahaa... I didn't believe it, I just didn't want to come across as a smart a**. Yes I was, although I didn't see him under the alias as Chilliboy, I came a little later when he was under Nudge. I believe they were his last two trade periods being 2011 & 2012.
  24. ........ noooooooooooo...... surely not. Was this guy pulling your leg? Anyway thanks for sharing Jack, I certainly hope your proposed Gibbs rumour warrants some truth - I along with every demonlander would do that deal in a heartbeat.
  25. Imagine if they had to worry about Jones, Dangerfield*, Vince, Tyson, Mitchell*, and Viney. Three players in their prime and three GUNS on the improve each year all very likely to one day become A graders. Our midfield woes would over.
