I thought Johnson was more effective in the ruck as well. White absolutely got smashed by Street and Darcy and was horrible with throw-ins. Just gets out muscled. He did however have a good game around the ground. So maybe, maybe PJ to ruck as much as possible with White playing as a tall midfielder. Food for thought.

There's no point playing the kids for the hell of playing them. If they aren't ready, they shouldn't be picked. However at 0-8, CJ should be given the chance to show what he's got till the end of the season. Petterd, Dunn, Jones, Sylvia, Bell, Frawley, Bate, Bartram to continue on their merry way. Buckley, Newton to have a stint some time later this year. The rest are way off and hopefully will show something at Sandy.

I can understand that. I'm not happy we lost but i'm not disappointed cause they had a dig. MFC kids show good signs with dunn really impressing. i knew bate and jones would be good but i was unsure about dunn. I'm really glad i read that wrong.

That's the problem. We have playas with one set of skills but are inadequate in others. How many times have we heard: If Godfrey had Johnstone's footskills, he'll be a supastar. If Yze had Brown's heart, he'll be a supastar. If Newton had Miller's mindset, he'll be a supastar. If Paul Johnson had Jamar's ruckwork, he'll be supastar. etc etc etc etc We don't have 2 many out and out champions. We do however have plenty of playas who have portions of a what a champion would be like. Any way, i've always hoped for Bate 2 turn into a Pavlich but i'm more then happy for him to play a Ryan O'Keefe style of game. Hard running HF.

Hard accountable football. We all know ND copies gameplans but he should've stuck with Brisbane/Sydney's gameplan. Weagles gameplan doesn't suit our players at all and most importantly we don't have Judd or Kerr. I love it when we beat Sydney at their own game. At the SCG as well. So it was a massive mistake 4 ND to get all our players to slim down and play a game that doesn't suit them. He should be judged for that (and the ten years) rather then the win/loss ratio this year.

I actually didn't mind Huddo. He does know his footy. Maher is bad, Michael Christian is worst. He's got to be the worst commentator going around. Hate listening to him and his bias to Collingwood. Watched a Pies/Port game and the crap he dished out was unbelievable.

Bruce would be leading by a short mile. I would like to see Newton get his chance but who ever gets dropped will be stiff. (Ironic saying that when we are 0-6) Millers being good in previous weeks and deserves his spot. Maybe Pickett, Sylvia, Warnock.

That one mistake u mentioned where Warnock bombed it long to a port adelaide playa, it wasn't his fault. if u look back at it, white had the ball, took 20 seconds to look around and decided to handball to a stationary Warnock. Warnock's opponent was 2 metres away and he had no choice but to bomb it long. Johnstone was okay but needs to do more. Re-enforcements are coming. White. I'm not sure if i'm marking him harder cause i've lost faith in him but he just had a good game. not BOG.

Everyone agrees about Brown being dropped. CJ did not play well last week however he does deserve to be persisted with but for the love of god, pick a spot for him. Play him HB for 3-4 weeks, Play him Wing 3-4 weeks, play him HF 3-4 weeks, i don't care. Just pick a spot and stop throwing him around like he's the saviour who can plug holes. He's young and needs to find his position in the team and utility is not a position. Jamar's being more useless then PJ (that's not saying much) but we need a second ruckmen. U'll b stupid to just play White. The question should be asked, are we any closer then when ND started? Has he rectified any of the problems that have plague MFC in his 9 years (i.e. the mentality of MFC playas and their ability to be ruthless). No.

Jamar's a dominant ruckmen in the VFL. He was already smoking them 2 or 3 years ago but hasn't developed that to the AFL standard. Maybe VFL grounds are smaller and he can use his bulk better or maybe his just a big fish in a small pond. Whatever the case, it's disappointing to see promising talent not develop.

A good article but we must keep in mind the rubbish game plan ND brought in this year. The run and carry game was terrible to watch in preseason and he should have figured it out but in round 1 and 2, it was all for everyone to see the crap brand of football. players were told to slim down for this game plan which is a terrible idea. our best midfielders are strong bodies who like it in tough, not slick running machines. Also the mentality of the dees need changing and that has to come the leadership and most importantly from ND. We get beaten by bottom teams and lose to teams we shouldn't. We had to win rd22 last year for a top 4 possie and up against an injury ravaged team like the crows, we got smashed. A new regime is required where ruthlessness is instilled and not just spoken of.

So true. We recruit the playas with hard bodies who like to play hard and we instil a run and carry game. Boggles the mind

This topic seems to crop up every year. Maybe ND isn't hard enuf on the boys and is too much a mate to all of them. We all know the playas and the coach get along very well so maybe that's the problem. They need a coach, not another friend. We all hope the likes of Mclean, Jones, Bate develop real fast and become leaders but if we have the same structure, will we still be having this argument in 5 years time? Will we be wondering and hoping when the next batch of kids will show the way?

Newton kicked 6 for Sandy and usually i'll like to see a youngster string a few games together before senior selection (ala Petterd) but with the depleted list and most importantly if Neitz ain't ready, he's earnt his spot by default. Garland didn't do anything at Sandy and not surprisingly struggled Sat nite. Newton would be stiff to not get a look in.

Cannot agree with u on bell DA. He is a good HB playa who's tough and will generally beat his man one on one. If he did go back to adelaide like u suggested, in a year or 2, we'll b hearing u [censored] about how we could ever let go such a good playa. CJ had a shocker but we should persist with him. Someone should define what role he should play and stick with it. Brad Miller starting on Hall was a joke. Lacking tall forwards so we'll start him back. I don't know how the myth of Hall being Miller's [censored] started from but clearly that's being busted by now. He had one great game against Hall 2004ish and has being lucky to split it 50/50 since then. It was Halls inaccurate kicking that made Miller look so good after his 2004 effort.

I'm not with 'the play the kids' bandwagon because they are young and unknown. It might sound old school but i still believe u must earn ur spot to play seniors. Petterd has done well/solid not outstanding in Sandy and def. deserved his spot last nite. Garland didn't. Kids who show nothing at Sandy will show nothing for MFC.

Who knows, maybe his stint at SANFL made him focused and more hungry. Like George said, if he didn't show anything in the trials, there's no reason 4 MFC to pick him up. Think, we picked him up as a rookie, he thinks how easy is this n becomes lazy at MFC. Unlikely but possible.

I can't understand why ppl are calling for the youngsters to be played simply for the fact they are young. I'm not sure how footy clubs are run in your town but my old footy club and hopefully MFC, you have to earn your spot. Magpies did include 3 youngsters but from all reports, they've earnt their spot. Petterd while not setting the world on fire, has done enough to earn a spot. Buckley's 50/50. Don't mind if he gets a spot or gets another week at Sandy. Newton (Hasen't done enuf) and Garland (Ditto).

dal santo is a star however i do concede that putting him in my top ten was a bit rich considering i left out a superstar in Mcleod and maybe Scott West, maybe Goodwin/Edwards, Black/Power etc.
