He literally was cleared because of his ‘good character’. He was allowed to bring Eddie Bettes and Indigenous elder to vouch for him. This is extraordinary. The rule of law is dead.

    lol what a farce

Watched them both and couldn’t tell you the difference. If anything with today’s currency, Butters gets a week more than Hunter.

Neither deserves a suspension imo but the inconsistency is stark again

  3. Thought I read somewhere that he attended the Casey scratch game on the weekend - if true it isn’t really something I’d expect from a player with one foot out the door

I really hope he stays as I believe he is very important to our structure in the next 4 to 5 years

For three years they have gotten away with their dead ball gameplan whenever they're threatened. It is putrid football and Carlton does the same thing. It doesn't work without good ball users which they have. But if you stop their outside runners and in particular Daicos as Hawks did to some degree tonight, you can beat them. Hawks should have won that and would be hitting themselves over throwing that away. I reckon Pies are in for a rude awakening when they play GWS, Melbourne, and even GC.

They got their GWS awakening in round 0

Hope your wrong Sydee the club have a bit more confidence and have contracted him through to ‘26 to fully develop.

I hope I’m wrong too but the club has also shown faith in players before that just haven’t made it. Its not an easy competition to break into and be successful and the position he has been recruited for is not an easy one

Let’s all hope he continues to improve and evolves more in the JUH style than those the other guys I’ve mentioned. JUH can mark the ball and is learning to compete physically - his kicking is still a bit hit and miss but he clearly has a lot of upside. He is the type of player that I think the club believes Jefferson could be - fingers crossed 🤞

Would love to keep Petty I hope he stays, can't wait for Jeffo to get up to speed after seeing him on the weekend.  Marking awesome...kicking not so much but just needs to practice.  Looked very competitive and hungry, not sure if that is out of the ordinary for him because I don't watch much VFL but Jeffo looked pretty good and exciting.

Jefferson was just ok and nothing more - I made the effort to actually watch that game on replay as I’d read the comments in the match day thread about him performing well

His direct opponent was a very raw defender who frankly looks like he might struggle to make it

Jefferson’s kicking for goal was bordering on embarrassing and he constantly kept running too close to the man on the mark (such a basic and fundamental mistake). I saw little from him in terms of intensity and physicality to give me any more than a glimmer of hope. For me he still sits in the category of talented junior that performed well at times against kids but may never transition to an AFL player

We have seen this type of player before - Weed and Schache two recent examples on our list - hopefully I’m wrong but I do have serious doubts that he has what it takes

  7. Potential to cause injury 😂

Is that anything like jumping with your knees into someone? I wonder 💭

Nobody is getting injured from a glancing blow which was all this was - ridiculous imo

Why are people so keen to drop Billings? Because he doesn't rack up possessions? Doesn't appear on our TV screens as much?

Apart from not converting on the two easier shots (of his three) and lower pressure acts I thought he played his role well last night. He's certainly putting himself in positions to score and still good for score involvements.

Do we just want to change for the sake of change?

Maybe someone from Casey is knocking down the door to come back in. Some people suggesting Laurie. Did he have a big game?

Maybe some people have suggested Billings Is teetering on the edge for all the reasons you’ve listed

    low possession count

    soft as on tackling efforts

    terrible attrmpts at kicking goals

I’m not advocating for him to be dropped but those who are do have valid reasons to question his continued selection

Either way, we’ll need a vastly improved performance than from tonight’s game to get the 4 points next week.

Then the boys can rest up for a week

Brisbane have been far from impressive so far this season - they will probably get an easy kill against a young North side and a boost of confidence but they are not in great form imo

There is no way he escapes with a fine. He will get a week. It may be low impact but it's the lifting of the elbow for mine. No way he gets off. Was a silly thing for him to do. I like his toughness and hardness but that aspect of his game needs to go in the bin. We can't afford to have him missing for massive games like the one coming up.

I try to look at these things as if one of our guys was on the receiving end

In this case it just seemed quite innocuous and relatively speaking had less impact on the player contacted than a hard tackle that is allowed dozens of times each game

Fine maybe but anything beyond that seems excessive to me - if it was one of ours coping that I’m confident I wouldn’t be calling for a suspension

I thought Kozzie was the victim of a blatantly high tackle right in front of goal very early in the game.

    Apparently I was hallucinating.

Yep and the free against him for insufficient intent on the Wing was comical

He is clearly out of favour with the umpires

Poor old Matthew Nicks sounded bereft in his presser and they're only four games into their season.

Probably realises he has a pretty poor team to coach

Apart from a few good players they drop off very quickly
