  1. My take on the clubs thinking is this... Putting all eggs into getting pick 1 basket, because if we acquire Harley Reid, he will be an automatic start in our midfield alongside Viney, Brayshaw, Clarry and co (yes assuming the latter 2 are back to full health). Then we can start Trac forward alongside Petty and JVR would make for a VERY dynamic forward line. That prospect certainly excites me and reckon if luck's on our side, we go all the way in '24.

    Get it done Dees.

A week has now past since the disaster that ended our year in 2023.

I can now sort of be sensible in what I write.

Those that are predicting our demise down the ladder in 2024 will be IMO sadly disappointed. We arrived at the end of this season with serious injuries to a number of our better players particularly KPF’s. We could still have won both games except for poor kicking for goal and some poor umpiring decisions. We also had serious long term injuries to players during the season e.g. Fritta and Clarrie.
so I am buoyant about next season. However I will go to the grave wondering why we did not pick the Bun as the 23rd man and then not play the guy we had picked who is a forward.

However we need to get at least another KPF who is ready to go in 2024, Tmac and Brown are at the end. Roo I will give one more season but I am not impressed, yes he is still young etc. but he too often gets we’re the ball ain’t as Jack would say. Doesn’t seem to have the ability to take a pack mark either. A useful player but no star IMO. Of course he might be improved if the ball was delivered better instead of the all too often bomb that helps defenders more than our forwards.
Kossie had a poor year IMO and I don’t expect that to continue in 2024.
Sadly we have returned to years past where the end of the season with only drafting etc as the only point of interest. Who know how the loss of our assistant coach will affect us.As for the AFL they have slipped to a point I didn’t think was possible. I have no interest in the next two weeks off to QLD for two weeks so I won’t have to endure the media [censored] if the worst should happen.
Here is to the 2024 season!

Ridiculously harsh on JVR. The kid is 20, playing his first season in the seniors. Had an OUTSTANDING year for someone who basically carried the load of our main target all year. Turn it up mate.

Need to avoid being the first team in the current finals system to go out in straight sets two years in a row.

Wild to think we haven’t won a final since 2021.

Even more wild to think we haven’t won a final at the G since 2018

  4. I’d love to be wrong, but on current form the Lions will win this comfortably. No doubt they will get themselves up for this one, with plenty to prove about their MCG hoodoo. We’ve been just going with quite a few passengers.. I’ve lost hope that we’ll ‘click into gear’.. Lions by 45 points.

  5. Embarrassing, insipid & lazy football when the game is there to be won, we roll over & die. No desperation, no desire, no fight.. We’re such an average football club who are content with a good showing every now & again. I don’t think we have the determination or grit to win another flag.

Sounds like @Die Hard Demon is the one with the soft underbelly. Time to go on holidays and forget about watching the Dees again, if you think the season is over.

And i stand by that statement.. I think we will just be making up the numbers in the top 8. No soft underbelly. Just facts.

If Kossie, Roo, Fritta and Spargo nailed their very gettable set shots, all this other wrist slitting would just be noise!

LOL we lost to Freo on our home deck. Freo are rubbish. We’re at least a 5 goal better side. I’d be still disappointed if we just fell over the line against them. Time to get ruthless as a club. We’ve got a soft underbelly as players & fans.

We have a list full of premiership players, I want us to act like that. Not like a team trying to get into the 8 like Essendon or Carlton, ok with the odd patchy loss but hey we got close!

We're aiming for top 4 and playing an OK team on our home deck and lose. We may not all be ropeable as fans but I'd sure hope the team is.

I think it’s the opposite.. majority of fans are clearly ropeable.. Players will be like ah gee freo are a great side & we nearly won.. that’s probably good enough!

  9. Can people stop looking for excuses. This is what always separates the best teams from the worst. Freo are a middle of the road team at best. This thread is a knee jerk reaction to the knee jerk reactions.
