  1. I expect I will get a lot of disagreement on the Tiges and I understand they have got some good ones in the last couple of years. I reckon Ellis is a beauty and I like the look of Vlaustuin but I think they should have taken Grundy ahead of him. Not hindsight, told a Richmond mate at the time. In fact I was angry that the Pies got him so cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if they missed the 8 next season and can't see them making top 4. I think the players love Hardwick and you can understand why but he will be under pressure if they fall back and as I say, I just don't rate him as a match day coach. Just a different viewpoint mate but I know where you are coming from, I may be well off the mark. You're right with Hunt and King but I think we need to take the punt now and back in the development guys we have at the club. I would rather go there than with what else was on offer. I think we got some good balance in the list with our trading, Tyson and Mitchie more than make up for what we missed trading for Clark and Cross adds that bit of leadership the club missed with draft sanctions in the early 2000's. Vince more than covers the loss of Silvia.
  2. No, you made the point about Brown as a player and the value he would have with us and in making your point you brought in the names of champions of the game. Yes the point is irrelevant as many of us have tried to point out to you, Brown is just not that good a footballer. As for hatred of the guy, I'm sure all the other fan forums are getting stuck into him at the moment too. When you play the game like he does what else would you expect. People are arguing with you about his value as a footballer, he has none for us now. Maybe a few years back. My favourite Brown moment was at the 'G' a couple of years back and someone kicked a high ball over his head just near the MCC members. Brown was running back with the flight of the ball and looked around to see if anyone was coming and saw Howe heading towards him. Lip reading the word f….coming from him as has spotted Howe. He backed back took his whack and of course Howe took the mark.
  3. I like our approach now better than Richmond's. I think we made a big mistake in following their model last year when we picked up Peders, Byrne, Gillies and Rodan. They will hover around the 8 but never be a true GF threat with the list they have and the approach they are taking in building it. All they have done this year is build on mediocrity. I'm also not convinced about Hardwick as a match day coach, makes too many mistakes under pressure. There is a good chance that some of the players we picked up like Hunt, Harmes and King will make it. There is a big wrap on Hunt and he was well worth the pick at 57, a couple of years in the system and let's see what we have.
  4. The only comments I've seen suggest that he could improve his contested ball stats, that seems fair comment. Some of the posts have been taken way out of context.
  5. Yep 'old dee', as you are alluding to…you have to get it before you can keep it.
  6. Might not be worth anything if the AFL change the rules which is on the cards.
  7. Was just about to post this, he needs to find the ball a lot more.
  8. Darcy Moore is Peter Moores son and Collingwood f/s. Waterman is WC.
  9. The list is already out of date at least one player already retired and one at another club on first glance.
  10. I thought he should have, it looked a deliberate kick to me and he got off lightly.
  11. 'Ben', do you know if the stats included his senior year in the SANFL when he featured in the finals. It would be interesting to get the figures for that year. His last year at the carnival he was injured and didn't have as good a senior year as it was interrupted. He was highly regarded by Jack Viney from all reports and Jack had played footy with him in SA. I couldn't imagine Jack being a rap for someone who didn't get his own ball nor could I imagine Todd picking him.
  12. Agree 'dazzle', they have recruited very well over the last couple of years and are well set up going forward. The cards have fallen their way with Grundy and Sharenberg, players they should never have had access to. The question now is can Buckley coach? I wouldn't be so quick to write him off as others on here have.
  13. That's right because it was in the rules at the time, he wasn't going outside the rules. Don't remember any of these guys taking out a team mate off the ground, also would think they were just a little better at the game than Brown.
  14. Agree…and he seems like the type of kid that will work hard to get it done.
  15. Thanks 'Sat', he looks to be naturally quite broad across the shoulders and unlike a lot of the skinny kids of the past could be a pretty strong unit going forward. Be interested to watch his development this year.
  16. By the look of the pix Barry has put on a bit more weight. Can anyone who's been to training confirm that?
  17. I'm thinking none of us has spent the last few years working full-time in recruiting and I like what the club has done over this whole trade draft period and there's no reason to think they got it wrong here. Time will tell.
  18. Not convinced by Sully, the only game I've seen him in was the GF and he was soundly beaten and showed nothing that would have him any better than Gillies as a player.
  19. Hope it's a good one for you and your family 'Pennant', and thanks for posting info on the WA prospects. Much appreciated.
  20. I liked it... but then again I loved Groucho.
  21. They chose Scharenberg, it had nothing to do with Brisbane. Both were on the table at their pick. Not sure what you are getting at here.
  22. Rioli spends time in the centre bounce and from memory started the game there, Ballantyne had a shocker. It's not just mid time now its the ability to push right up the ground like Motlop and the Cats forwards do…but we've had these arguments before on the small forward, my opinion is they are on the way out at least at Melbourne under Roos and for good reason.
  23. Agree 'Ben'. Will be interesting to watch his progress this year. He almost operates as a 3rd tall.
  24. Nup, a small forward is a waste of space if that's all he does but we've been through this argument a number of times. JKH wouldn't have been picked up by us if that's all he offered.
  25. Agree, and he has a couple of mates at the Cats.
