What I'm getting at is if what 'Mach5' says is right, and his Geelong mail is usually pretty good then it's a dumb punt. The odds look good but they are because there is no prospect of winning. Forget taking a punt, the club will have a look and the medical people will give it a thumbs up or thumbs down. There will be none of this his legs are f....but hey lets have a punt, he might come good.
-
Look at the odds.... Would you bet on a lame horse even at 1000/1? Worth a punt? One thing you can guarantee is the club won't be taking a punt.
-
The article may have but it looks like Goodwin hasn't... He reiterated the club's interest in Essendon defender Michael Hibberd, but said staff had not spoken about the possibility of Adelaide on-baller, and former Demon, Scott Thompson returning to the fold.
-
....um, both Rookie draft picks and Vanders came from Canberra, originally the South Coast of NSW I think. A fair way from the GC.
-
Lets hope this lifts the curse and 31 can be a lucky number again (Goodwin our 31st coach)...

Realistic Trade Week Results (Wish List)
rjay replied to GawnWithTheWind's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would be happy with that. Set ourselves for the draft next year (good draft) to keep regenerating the list and target a quality free agent in 2017. -
Lazy, non competitive and can't ruck...not so sure about this 'Man'.
-
That precedent was set last year with Hodge & Wingard...
-
Vardy struggles to get on the park but could be an option, Cameron's stats are impressive but haven't seen any of him. I think we need to keep Spencer as a back up for Max and give Mitch King time to develop. ...but we need someone who can play that forward/ruck role. These guys would be looked at for sure.
-
I think you may be right...not sure there are any mature age forward/rucks out there worth a shot. Buckley's been searching for a while now to fill the Leigh Brown role and all he's come up with is Lynch then White.
-
We currently don't have a forward/ruck (Max King apart but maybe delisted) so if there are any out there I would think they would be on our radar and easy to convince...
-
To be fair, the move of Guthrie into the middle was a winner & turned the game. Not only did he get a bit of the ball but he opened things up for Selwood & Danger...
-
Hartung's not what we need. He's quick yes, but that's about it for him. Picks up a bit of ball but doesn't hurt, doesn't do any damage.
-
Hawks probably out in straight sets...good luck to Fitzy but it shows where their list is at to my mind. They've covered up for Roughy but now things get serious.
-
...but the question I have is this. Because a player has played 300+ games and is over 30yo, does that mean they are a leader?

I thought the newspaper article was worth quoting 'stuie', seemed to clear the whole thing up as being something said in jest (by Hartlett) that got out of control.
-
Stevie J was still playing good footy at Geelong, Nicky Del is not, he's shot. ...so it doesn't make any sense to me.

I think he's done as a player myself. Good kick in his day but doesn't get enough space to take advantage now. Would prefer Boomer for a year, we do need to add some experience and leadership.

250k over 5 years ($1mill) is a lot of money to turn down 'Abe', particularly in a career that could end with 1 injury or accident.
-
They have nothing to get in on though 'old dee'...I couldn't see anyone, even Richmond supporters voting this mob in. The only thing they are spruiking is "we might get Balmy"... Now I think Balmy is a pretty intelligent man and I couldn't see him going with a board who want to make him CEO of football reporting directly to them. Surely you only have one boss, he should be reporting to the CEO (Gale at present). Go for it though Tiges, 2 bosses...and a board who want to tell the coach how to coach. What could go wrong? Yep, that's going to work.

Spencer is a ruckman, we need to keep him as backup. He will never make it as a forward/ruck, he would have done it by now if he was. The problem is not just kicking straight, he's not a bad kick at goal (strange action). The problem with most rucks (including Max) is they need to spend majority of time on ball, they are not natural forwards and don't now how to position themselves.

I would be wary of anyone from Port who have been there through the down period/resurrection/down again period. We need good leadership but what Port have shown is their leadership is very flakey. We need strong leaders to help Jones & Vince around this age group just not from a flakey culture like Ports...
-
Pretty sure the big knock on him as a junior was lack of endurance...
-
Not sure if you're being serious here 'Jim'???? If only Lynch had dropped down one more place.....
-
Stab you in the other eye for putting this post up....lol
