  1. Tomlinson is an interesting one and may point to why we don't seem to get some of these so called young guns. Last year he was approached by Carlton and St Kilda, we were not interested and didn't make an approach for whatever reason. My understanding is that's still the case unless we've changed our mind sometime over the last month. The source is solid on this...
  2. Someone seems to have hijacked the thread with a bunch of stuff about destination clubs....can't be bothered going through it all. All I know is that you seemed to rate Carlton as a destination club but haven't backed it up with any player of substance. Judd is the last one I remember.
  3. Changing your story 'stuie'...
  4. How many have gone to Carlton????the club you seem to see as a destination club.
  5. Also that Lyon is an absolute nightmare play under...
  6. Takes a grab, good pace and a very good user of the ball... If he can get over the injuries???
  7. Thought they might have moved, I used to work with his parents a while back in Melbourne. Terrific people...
  8. I thought they were in Melbourne...
  9. My big problem with Hanley is that he's shown himself up to be very unprofessional in his approach. Seemed to sook a lot this season because he didn't like the coach...and this showed up in his performance and on ground demeanour. Not a good look. I would pass.
  10. Not either of those. Neither would work with where we sit at the moment. We're not establishing a club from scratch and we have already passed the stage where those 2 clubs were when they made these decisions.
  11. I wouldn't take Keilty or McInnerney, both VFL players and I don't see a place for them at AFL level.
  12. Did it as naturally as he does on his right...I've seen it a few times. ...and yes he does need to kick more often, he will get the balance right over the next few years.
  13. One thing I've really noticed in his VFL games recently is that Clayton Oliver is an excellent kick off both feet.
  14. You would argue underwater 'stuie'...seriously mate. My last words on this. You Are Wrong 'stuie', Carlton are not a Destination Club...they're picking up SOS's NQR's.
  15. ..haven't answered the question 'stuie'...who? and no Marchbank is not one, unproven to date at AFL level. We might not be a big destination club but neither are Carlton.
  16. So who have Carlton landed since Judd?
  17. Now what was it the 'Mach' said before about...I remember now. I get the feeling young Laverne 'Daz' has a pretty good relationship with himself. lol...
  18. Sorry 'Team', it doesn't concern me at all. Carlton can wallow in the bottom half of the ladder forever, suits me just fine.
  19. 'stuie', I think it's time for clubs to have the right to trade players to get the best deal for the club. The players want a cut of the pie, well they will need to give up some of their current rights to get it.
  20. As I say...he's the Molly Meldrum of footy.
  21. You are right of course & it's why we are not in a position to trade back into the first round this year unless Hogan goes (I would hope not) or we trade next years first round pick (doubtful). We've already traded out or let go of our currency over the last few years in building this list. It's going to be Hibbard, Melcham & development this year...maybe a late value pick & delisted free agent,
  22. Now 'Abe', I think it might be bit early to say we've had success with the succession plan. We've had success with part one, a clean passing of the baton. If the lions are thinking of doing something similar then Fagan would not be the man, it would have to be someone like Mathews.

What I'm getting at is if what 'Mach5' says is right, and his Geelong mail is usually pretty good then it's a dumb punt. The odds look good but they are because there is no prospect of winning. Forget taking a punt, the club will have a look and the medical people will give it a thumbs up or thumbs down. There will be none of this his legs are f....but hey lets have a punt, he might come good.

Look at the odds.... Would you bet on a lame horse even at 1000/1? Worth a punt? One thing you can guarantee is the club won't be taking a punt.
  25. The article may have but it looks like Goodwin hasn't... He reiterated the club's interest in Essendon defender Michael Hibberd, but said staff had not spoken about the possibility of Adelaide on-baller, and former Demon, Scott Thompson returning to the fold.
