I think we were looking like a decent side before we got Lewis... -

So Hawthorn are now trying to go from the best kicking team in the competition to the worst in one draft. Lose 2 elite kicks in Mitchell and Lewis, talk of Birchell as part of the O'Meara deal then and add Frost to a backline that already has Frawley. Clarko is a bit left field but I doubt this... -

He won't be part of the Hibberd deal, that will be a 2nd round pick as indicated. Might be part of a deal to get us another 2nd round pick this year, I think we have that earmarked for something otherwise the EFC/Hibberd deal would already have been done. My guess is we are looking at a forward/ruck with that pick...total guess based on needs though. -

No not disagreeing, he's certainly not on an upwards spiral but he did keep them in the Cats game. I think the days of players taking a pay cut to keep the group together are all but over. Hawthorn and the Cats managed to con their players but it will be no more. A younger group will grab a flag then go for the cash from now on, it may already be starting to happen at the dogs... Players will get smarter, it's the way the game is heading. Do I like it? No, I don't like what has happened to the game and what the AFL chiefs have done to it. -

He was best on ground in their game against the Cats....didn't have a good one the following week. -

The rumour is pick or picks and player trade, not simply a pick for Lewis... -

2nd hand, but has some form. Won't guarantee it but as I say lets see. Heard this about an hour ago....some kind of pick and player trade. -

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS

I would be very surprised if he doesn't... Dill the likeable is waiting for this to happen, so much easier for him. -

Dill the likeable seems to be doing some of his best work here... -

Not sure I can fully vouch for my sanity but let me have a go. I think 'red' & 'Jack' might tell you there is no point suing someone if they haven't got the dollars in the bank to pay out or insurance coverage. For a change I think the EFC players & former coach might have had and have listened to reasonable legal advice on this one. -
Maybe we should put Oliver up for trade and see what we get??? ....only joking 'picket', remember this time last year? It was the work done around this time that got us the picks to bring in Oliver and the Weed. ...and we have been a destination club in the past and look where it got us. Templeton, Moore, Diamond Jim.....the list goes on. Would rather develop our own and cherie pick along the way. Hibberd is a good get for us, but would you rather have Vickery?
-
I think it's time to move on... If Dawes is on our list next year it means we haven't achieved some of what we want this draft/trade period.
-
It was interesting listening to Malthouse talk about Tuohy at the end of the H&A season. He really liked him as a player but said his one major weakness was hand balling, said he just couldn't get it. Now, given our game style I would say that is one reason he would be a no for us and not as versatile as you think.
-
Out of that list I can see McDonald-T fading away next year, pops gone one season too many and finish off in the VFL or retire mid season, Watson retire at the end of the season along with Stanton & Goddard. They will be rebuilding around youth by the end of 2017...
-
The compromised draft along with the introduction of free agency also helped them enormously.

'Nasher', I think it puts the trade in a different light. Whilst Kennedy is a champ, they have a few in the midfield. Stratton would be worth that trade to the Hawks, he's a very important player to them as could be seen when he was out with injury late in the season. If you are back at school and picking teams with everyone lined up against the shelter shed, you would take Kennedy every day but...

I liked listening to her, she was a good media performer always with a strong opinion. Like it or not... Sad news and quite surprising, she did well to keep this quiet. RIP Rebecca.

Seriously, I think if we don't offer him a new contract then it's over for him as far as an AFL player goes. He has plenty to offer in other areas of his life, time to move on to the law or coaching. The thought of another club picking him up is fanciful but then again if WC are really looking at Petrie then anything is possible.
-
I don't think this is what he said at all...it's about where our list stands not about the offers. Of course we would take one if it was good (my words)... Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney told NAB AFL Trade Radio that Dawes wouldn't be offered a new deal at the Demons until after the player movement period. "He's one of a few players at the moment that we're just waiting until the end of trade period just to have a look of who we bring in," Mahoney said. "He has not (been) offered a contract at this stage."

I'm probably going to sound a bit condescending here 'DV8' sorry...but you are probably not old enough to remember the zone system before the draft came in. If you want to understand why Hawthorn have the supporter base they have and why they were/are such a successful club from the 70's onward just check out their zones and who came out of them. ...and believe me they didn't do anything to develop players, the local areas they had were booming with kids and footy clubs. They got lucky and they weren't letting go of a gold mine. The draft was the only thing that started to even out the competition and anything that weakens it would be a disaster. We've already seen that with the recent compromised drafts. ...and then we have the manipulation of unscrupulous club officials, hard to believe I know but kids were moved into different club zones so they could be attached to that club. Wouldn't happen these days of course, imagine someone like Gubby let loose in this environment...

Personally not a wrap for him or his media work. It's interesting to see the differing views, some seeing him as a good media man and footy analyst. I thought he was more than a good player, probably just short of being a champion but don't rate his analysis at all myself.
