Seeing as Watts did it last season, I think he (Watts) is still the number one option. He was competitive enough, it seemed to help his game and the opposition had to watch out for him as an extra mid.

Agree, can't see it happening. Also with the focus on quick ball movement over the preseason it would be counterproductive to carry an extra ruck.

Tyson is a lot more important to our mid set ups than many seem to think here. He sets up a lot and does the team things that get the ball moving. 2017 will see him step up another notch.

I wonder how many of them turn up for games???
-
Why? The Springvale history has just had the last nail. I don't think the Hawks have any reference to the Mustangs in their song even though they are more closely aligned to the original club. Might be wrong but...

I really like what Vanders brings to the table but this is one thing he's not...he's probably on a par with Kent for set shots and I wouldn't stake my life on either.

I know he had a great first year but I get the feeling the coming season will be Hogan's break out year, the year he puts to rest the debate about who the best young forward in the game is. He looks fit, happy, content and ready to go... -
Then you do what the Doggies do 'La Dee'...you throw the thing.

Hunt is a pest 'Lucifer', in the nicest of ways. He's so quick and willing to get back to spoil & or take the ball away. If they hesitate or are not pin point with the pass he's on to it. Will be a real weapon, even more so in season 2017. -
If only it were so simple 'Man'... So you spin out the other side put it on your np, kick it straight to an opponent (because your np is nowhere near as accurate as your preferred) who now has open options down the ground and off they go. This is why elite coaches stopped players using their np years ago...it went the way of the drop kick and the stab pass. Not saying it won't come back into vogue but I think it will be for different situations then you are suggesting...

A few observations from today... Crossy is a gun, had the rehab group working before the main group came out. Just professional in his approach, well organised and you can see he has the respect of the players...funny thing, when the players were coming in early in the session Trac (sure he has ADD) was calling for a ball from Crossy, just turned his back and ignored him. A few polite words from Trac...then he found a ball to play with. The 2 big rucks in development (King & Flip) working with Crossy handle the ball well but both are a bit awkward with their kicking style. Frosty is a great athlete, really hard to get away from as Hibbo found out but really has a problem with kicking, decision making or maybe both. As soon as he stops to think he's done. He needs to go with his first option, but if it doesn't come off it may do him in for confidence. As for Clarry, he worked pretty hard but did get chipped from one of the coaches at one point for not pushing up into the action. They're making sure he doesn't sit back and admire his work. He's still a kid and at times still trains like one...but he is a gun in the making, no doubt about that and the FD will leave no stone unturned to get him there. Skills look up across the group as far as my memory of previous year goes which is good. A thought on the np kicking, and I hope 'Sat' gets to ask 'Macca' about this. Just looking at how this session was going, and I left before it finished. Players were still coming around onto there kicking foot so it's doesn't seem to be a rule to kick on np if you are on that side. I noticed a couple of times some quick kicks on the np and it seemed to be when covered on the mark instead of trying to get a looping handball over the top there was a quick kick on the np if necessary in place of a long handball to get play moving...just a thought. Edit: forgot this.... Every now and then I would notice some nice work by a player, seemed quite composed and professional in how he went about it...who is number 9? looks pretty good. Whether Trenners makes it back as a regular who knows but he doesn't look out of place. -

What 'tilly18' says is right... The theory was that you were much more reliable on your preferred foot and much, much more likely to turn over a kick on the np. So like the drop kick of old the np was all but banned by coaches (became a team rule). Jeans was a big one on this...and even the current Hawk teams rarely (apart from Mitchell) used or could kick well on the np. The thinking was that if the team was functioning as it should then there should always be a teammate/s in support and you shouldn't run into trouble. I would be interested in why Goodie is training up the np, maybe 'Sat' could ask Macca the reasoning behind it. I could almost guarantee it's not as simple as getting out of trouble. Maybe the wheel has turned...

Melbourne midfield ranked worst in AFL by Champion Data
rjay replied to SaberFang's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would think Lewis is more potent and proven than any of these 3. Multiple premiership player and a big game match winner...that can't be said of any of the 3 Tiges. Cotchin and Martin struggle in the big games and haven't won a final let alone a premiership. Prestia played in a team that couldn't win a game if Ablett didn't play. -
Can't stand the show personally and have only seen fleeting minutes in the last 10 years but one things for sure... When Sam goes the show is gone...love him or hate him he is the only personality on the show and the one that draws in the ratings. Sam is the footy show.

Well their complex premiership quadrant model worked so well for them this season... NOT...... -
The big question is... Are these games on Tele?

I'm hoping not 'SWYL' otherwise it's going to be a long time before we break the drought. -
Finally a policy that jells with me...

When "The Footy Show" started the idea was based on the old "World of Sport", mixing football with larger than life personalities like Dyer, Davis and Richards among others. Light on football & personalities it has fallen way short of that goal.

His father is the MD at Diadora...pretty good memory I would think 'Clint'.

I know you don't rate Trenners 'olisik' but maybe you could save it until the season gets going. Here's hoping some humble pie might be on the table.
