The club needs to utilise its sponsers more like Webjet offering deals. The other market I can see is Canberra, and the AFL are lkg to GWS for this market

mjt, the Tasmanian market is minuscule. The population and economy in Tasmania cannot afford 3 clubs utilising their market. The MFC needs to implement a similar model in a different market. The Darwin govt are sponsors and we make money with each game being played there. The NT has an AFL loving population and Darwin's population exceeds Launceston. In time the Darwin experiment could be as viable as Tasmania is to the Hawks. The club needs to inovative, not followers trying to topple the Hawks in a market they already own.

Why advocate the death of our club mjt?

I worked in both public and private schools. The main difference I saw was private school kids bought their own laptops off the school (public schools relied on computer class), and private schools kids could a afford heavier more expensive drugs. That's depressing.

That change was a succession plan 26. What everyone is advocating is a sacking.

I'm of the opinion that the club has forced themselves into a corner. To retract the captaincy to Grimes and Trangove could be counter active. Maybe elevate Jones and have three captains (although I'm unsure of this too)

People need to understand we only see what occurs on the field on game day. The guys is already a leader. What this club needs is a GROUP of leaders to move us forward. Putting it all down to one (or in this case two) people is wrong. Grimes has won awards due to his leadership qualities and Trengove was a leader at junior level. They have leadership qualities. The team suffers with too few being leaders. This issues is more complex than naming Jones captain,

Why the obsession with the captaincy? He is already a club leader in the leadership group. His fellow clubman didn't vote him as captain. Just get a midfield around him so he can inflict real damage. The guy is the real deal!

Should have there ever been an argument? We deserve a mini draft type concession or pick one.

Seriously Chook, this club has made me so numb that a punch in the head would not register. My point is that StKilda may take what I consider our 2 nd draft pick if we won today then beat the bulldogs in the last round. Yes I know draft picks alone wont (and haven't) help the club, but it helps if the club can start to add in factors that other clubs have when developing a team. PJ better start the ball rolling in this area.

I wish everyone would get off the 'sack everyone' bullshite!!! We've sacked the Coach, CEO, The President, and had a clean out of players last year. More changes will occur. The 'Sack Everyone' approach is only applicable if you have the people to replace the people you sack!!. What this club needs is a coach with a game plan who can set an on field culture, and a learning/development culture that improves the list. The head coach alone will not achieve this. We need quality assistant and development coaches to implement this development.

Gotta hand it to Nate Jones, consistently performs each week without support. The guy is an A grader, no doubt. As for the calls for him to be captain, I'm not so sure. He is a genuine leader though as will be good for the younger ones coming thru. Watts has skills in spades but lacks effort and heart. He has massive trade value and I think it's best for both parties to split. I'm glad we lost. A win would make us dangerously close to the Saints with the same amount of wins, and we deserve pick 2. For all those who will come back with wins is what the need to change the culture, do you seriously believe a win against GWS will change any thing? Yes the lose hurts (a lot), but for me, the lose to North by 120 points hurt more and contributed to today's lose.

I hear that Lara under 12's are struggling this season. Maybe a practise match pre season 2014 may increase player confidence. But then again we may lose.

Having a scotch with you Cowboy. I don't believe winning this game has any value to the club We know we're crap. We know we are on a par with GWS. Beating up on junior players means nothing. Losing to them means more IMO The only hope this club can muster out of this year is a new experienced coach, free agency, trade, the draft and a priority pick. Losing to GWS will help the club to get a very good priority draft pick, hopefully a mini draft or pick one. A Roos will sell hope, and allow the club to sell hope to free agents and prospective trades. Hopefully the development program will start to develop our youth too. Roos and the AFL informs the footy world the the MFC will get concessions therefore will improve from next season. This season was gone after losing round one to Port.

You must get very frustrated at the packaging in supermarkets and have yet to master anything cryptic!! Sometimes a mis spell is by design (get it?) Back to the discussion. If the club cannot get anyone of value with a PP or pick two, go back to the draft and rely on the new development program to develop our youth. Also place faith in the new (experienced) coach. The club is not a charity or in the business of making other clubs stronger short term or long term. Your hypothetical outlines your stupidity IMO.

Stupid post. Hypothetically speaking all the players named by you are not worth a top 10 pick. Just to point out your stupidity more, Gold Coast are not flush with tall forwards, and GWS could be included in a multi club deal.

If we lose to GWS, I will welcome James Aish, the priority pick that will net us two very good midfielders to the club.
