I dont think he would have taken Kozzy. Fritta was more likely but now they have to potentially deploy Barass onto him
Was more thinking without resting ruck Rotham at 194 would slide to Fritch and then Hurn gets ????
If Barass goes to Fritch who goes to BBB, Tmas and Dogga? Rotham, McGovern and???

Hurn is a big out. They have very little left to cover our forward line. They still have scoring power, but it is obviously aging and out-of-form.
As for Gaff...meh.
The match up for Hurn was either Kozzy or Fritch. Maybe an advantage for WCE hes now out

Are you saying he shouldn't have kicked the goal after the siren??? Oh boy....
100%. what did it achieve apart from adding to Tom stats. I would have been celebrating with my team mates.

Pretty sure not kicking the goal so he could start the celebrations earlier would have been the more selfish move.
yep kicking the ball into the crowd or throwing it away so you can enjoy the exact moment you win the premiership with your TEAM mates would be a selfish move 🤦♂️
who cares about an extra goal to the margin or an extra goal on the stat sheet when you have just won, oh hang on, Tom did.

It wasn’t Tom’s finest moment but to be fair him marking it made it a certain goal at an important time, for all he knew there could’ve been someone coming from behind to spoil it. It’s in the book for Tom, but I’m sure everyone recognises it as Harmes’s goal.
19 hours ago, Robbie57 said:Tmac has had a lot of stick for the mark, and I think he was unsure what to do. I read he was worried it may hit the line and bounce back to my mind it looked like he was also worried he may not be able to get out the way with someone behind him. A shame for Harmes who deserved it but the commentary has been over the top.
18 hours ago, Action Jackson said:I disagree with people potting Tom McDonald for taking that mark.
If you watch the replay he never took his eyes off the ball, so wouldn't have known exactly where he was.
If he let it go and it wasn't long enough there is every chance it bounces short of the line and goes left or right and hits the post.
He then went and apologised to Harmesy and explained it straight after.
I might be harsh but Im not having Toms explanation. he knows exactly where he is. The ball had more chance of hitting the fence on the full than bouncing on the line. Im not sure who could have come from behind him, a member of the cheer squad?? Add this to the massive burn in the 3rd he looked to me to be playing for his position and not the team.
I suppose when you look at his kick after the siren in the GF it makes a lot of sense.

What do we make of another lackluster crowd last night?
I still can't fathom a reason for more than 60% to be absent to our home games.
In a season (second in a row) in which we should be basking in the success and drive of this team, it is definitely sad to see the MCG half empty.
Seems 39K was bang on ave crowd for both teams. Nothing lackluster about it.
2021 - Haw - Away 36K
2019 - Haw - Home 40K
2018 - Haw - Away 42K
2017 - Haw -Home 38K
2016 - Haw - Away 41K, Home 38K
Highest Home game against Haw since 1997 46K

I quoted this ticketing issues earlier as a major factor as to why crowds are down. Until the MCC and MCG return to a system of just rocking up and getting a seat together with mates, we will continue to see lower than expected attendances.
With the restriction repeals announced today, which come into effect on Friday night, I hope the MCC update their ticketing policies. In an email received today from the MCC, it looks like things are beginning to be relaxed a little. I hope it continues:
General ticketing
A reminder to members that to obtain access to the Reserve during the 2022 AFL Premiership Season, matches have been categorised in one of the following options based on the predicted attendance.
1. Fully Ticketed Matches
Only a small number of AFL Premiership Season matches have been classified under this category for this year. This category is assigned to marquee matches where it is predicted demand to attend will be high amongst our members. For example, the ANZAC Eve and ANZAC Daymatches are Category 1, fully ticketed matches, and are available to Full and Restricted members only. Full and Restricted members and their guests must have secured tickets in advance to attend those matches in the Reserve.
2. Members’ Reserve on Demand or Walk-Up Access Matches
For designated Members’ Reserve on Demand matches, the Reserve is available to members to secure a seat and also purchase visitor tickets on a match-by-match basis. Seats are released and sold as required and any seats not sold will be available to those members who decide to walk-up on the day of the match. This walk-up availability will be communicated on the MCC website on the Friday afternoon prior to the round. On 4/21/2022 at 6:12 AM, Kick_It_To_Pickett said:I think I was referring to the MCC, not AFL members. There has been a requirement for all our games to reserve seats, particularly if attending with a guest.
No there hasn't. You could have walked up to the GWS and sat anywhere with a guest. The MCC hasn't changed the systems its been the same since round 1. There is no walk ups for category 1 games which Melb has had 3 in the first 6 weeks. A by product of being a bigger team. The system isnt really much different to pre covid. The major change is no walk ups to blockbuster games, which isnt really that bigger deal. saves you getting there early and reserving a decent seat.

A great indicator of work rate is on the AFL app in the TRACKER tab under the WORKRATE section. Since the start of last season we have had an ave speed in defense greater than ave speed in attached for all but 1 game, from memory the loss to Adel. What this indicated is we work harder defensively compared to attacking. We also consistently have the opposite to our opponents who work harder in attack compared defense.

I got tickets on Level 4 last night with no issue.
On a side note, pre-COVID it was possible for my kids to scan their MFC memberships to get into the MCC for Dees games.
Now we need to book tix via Ticketek, it doesn’t accept their barcodes, so I need to buy them a visitor ticket, which is a bit annoying. Anyone else notice this?Yes I have found the same. Have been meaning to ring the club (MCC) about this but haven't got around to it.

So who is Wal Wuol?
There’s an article in the Cranbourne Leader (VFL: Casey Demons sign nine new players for 2022 season) which reports that Wal, who is great mates with Mac Andrew, and began playing only three years ago has made great strides in that time. He’s never played senior football and hardly stepped foot in a gym but was runner-up in the South East Juniors Under 17 Premier B & F in 2019.
According to Casey coach, Mark Corrigan: “He’s got speed, he’s tough, he’s a good height at 186cm. We’ve been trying him through the wing and as forward. He’s a really nice left-foot kick.”
Wuol is eligible under the 23rd player rule and Corrigan is hoping that he plays early.
The Casey Demons player list has been issued:
CASEY DEMONS
James Munro, Cora Lynn *
Matthew Buntine, Caulfield Grammarians *

Happy to be proven wrong but there’s no indication the former afl players we’ve added to our top up list will actually play for Casey. They’re all making more money with less work playing local footy. We can’t afford Zaharakis, Lonie, Reid, Moore! Buntine will play and Conca we might be able to talk in to some Casey footy given he’s around the group, most likely he plays local footy or has a rest. Not the others.
They’re only signed in case we start having injuries and covid cases and get down towards the bare minimum.
That's my understanding, they stay at local level and only play at if needed.

Firstly the first thing I'll say is that the bulldogs will be the benchmark of the VFL with great players like Wallis, West, Ugle-Hagen and co and Casey will be a lot better when they get our quality VFL players out on the park like Zaharkis and co.
Team
B: D.Smith, Ellison, McVee
HB: Baker, 51, Freeman
C: Howes, Dunstan, Woewodin
HF: Melksham, van Rooyen, Rosman
F: Moniz-Wakefield, Weideman, M.Brown
FOLL: Bell, White, Laurie
IC: Munro, Goonan, Quigley, Grey, 54, 69 (sudanese player)
Goals: 4 M.Brown, 1 Dunstan, Howes, van Rooyen, Weideman
Why have you signaled out one player and given him a label.

A bit harsh no defenders got an interview, especially as our defence won us the flag really. One of May, Lever, Sales should have been included
I believe still to come is certain players re watching the game while commentating on it, that they have done in previous years. Id assume that will include defenders.

Thought Bowey started to come good towards the end but I agree it wasn't their best performances.
That being said other than Rivers errant handball in the 4th Q there were no howlers.
An interesting tactic with Pickett being at the centre bounce for the start of each quarter. It got me to wondering if it was more about forward set up as he only appeared at the first bounce of each quarter.
Did you not watch many games last season DJ. Was used most games last year.
