Play Salem. If the choice is to play against men of a great standard as opposed to men of a lesser standard then let's get him a game. And I write this in the knowledge that we have a midfield that's going to offer significant more protection than in seasons past.

Do you reckon? I think, other than a goal umpiring decision, the umpiring was shite. And he may be a great but is there any chance that the umpires can stop being spectators and make Ablett earn his frees. sheesh.

The one clear thing that was evident from yesterday was that if you feed a new club enough talent at the expense of others they cannot help but succeed and weaker clubs cannot help but remain somewhat stranded. And let's not forget that, on top of the unprecedented draft concessions, they were also able to pay for the greatest player (possibly) of our generation. For this reason alone, I wish Gold Coast nothing but ill will and if that makes me a bitter prack then so be it.

Round 5: Predictions & General Discussion
Return to Glory replied to Machsy's topic in Melbourne Demons
He and his brother are a case study. Take two blokes who are identical and give one a great team and one a mediocre one. It can be luck of the draw IMO. -
Round 5: Predictions & General Discussion

Now there's an overrated coach. Brad Scott should be paid for looking bewildered in the box. -
I'm not being facetious but is it on its way Rjay? Perhaps I'm being greedy but wouldn't it be great to have our own Jaeger Omeara.
-
Just listened to Malthouse. He is cooked, without any shadow of a doubt.
-
I've looked at this draft relatively closely and it's not a super draft.
-
Neville is a bloke who has not really been allowed to settle. He may be limited but there are an awful lot of players who are limited but have carved out a career.
-
For Melbourne it's not a great draft in terms of midfielders and its midfielders I still believe we need.

Brett Kirk - Roos' successor?
Return to Glory replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Colin, I have always been a little skeptical about succession type arrangements .i.e Buckley, Keating. Lets get now right so that we can have the luxury of selecting a coach who fits the side that presents at the time. For mine, Carlton's appointment of Malthouse is a decision that doesn't add up. Wrong coach for their situation. As my Carlton mate said, 'we should have gone for Hinkley'. Still, hindsight and all that. -
Brett Kirk - Roos' successor?

I reckon if he lands another for the Hawks he'll be looking for a new challenge. Can coach. -
Jabberwocky, I agree for the most part. However, when you see the gifts bestowed on Gold Coast and GWS, I'm not completely convinced. All things being equal however, and I think you are right. And Thomas may prove a greater flop than Buddy. They're in trouble and it's good.

Round 5: Predictions & General Discussion
Return to Glory replied to Machsy's topic in Melbourne Demons
There's always a round where it's easy enough to get a very low score. For me, this normally happens very early on in the season. I've gone for North over Pies and I think the Tiges are a cert. in terms of a roughy, WCE over Port and Sydney over Freo. Doggies to beat Blues, Adelaide to win, Bombers to win, Hawks also and Suns. I think I'll change the last one as I don't even like admitting the tip. -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 5
Return to Glory replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We are in this game up to our eyeballs. I'd like to think that, at home, if we're close enough at three quarter time we can run over the top of them. -
General Machsy?
-
I'd be surprised if Bernie, himself up for trade, would have been privy to who Adelaide intended to delist.

Return to Glory replied to Rod Grinter Riot Squad's topic in Melbourne Demons
Song, I've got to say, I'm excited about what this kid could do. But you're probably right. -
Well De Bono, let's hear it.
-
Besides heroic, spectacular and setting an amazing example (your words) what would you like him to do as a matter of interest?
-
Are we living in a parallel universe? I can't stand him but please don't tell me that he doesn't inspire his team. You only have to look at them without him. And I have watched enough games where he has turned the tide on his own. Lets have a little perspective.

Premiership Captain does have whiff of leadership about it does it not?
-
I suspect that bypasses my belief that Lucas Cook would be a great for us. He's gone into fashion apparently and may well one day design a terrific away jumper for us. So I'm not totally conceding.

Didn't know that. sheesh.
