  1. i don't think we need to buy a marquee player, i reckon we develop our own marquee player(s). but if we were to go after a marquee player, i would only consider looking at players 24 & <24 years of age

  2. agree with the calls about mclean's pace issues, he is way too slow. the forward experiment against carlton highlights this. when they chucked him up forward, there was no chance he was gonna get a shot at goal. yes he managed to find space, but as soon he led, there was already a carlton player ready to mop up or spoil.

  3. Why doesn't Mclean fit in our future plans anymore in terms of the clubs perspective. I know his slow, injury prone and not the most skilled. But what's the clubs reason for letting him go.

the FD have probably done some serious planning and have developed what they believe is to be a "premiership blue print". In order to complete this "blue print" the tough decisions need to be made, and unfortuneately mclean had to go. if you look at our current list and include picks 1 & 2 and then come up with your best 22 for 2013, you would have trouble putting mclean in there. The FD want to develop the best possible list they can and "slow, injury prone and not the most skilled" are not apart of it.

also good luck to brock, hope he can find some success, but of course not against the MFC.

  4. OK I'll cut to it - I've heard that it's Garland.

But I wouldn't classify him as a "star"

good to hear sylvia's name hasn't been discussed in any trade talk, and tbh i can't see garland going anywhere, as if the FD would consider trading him. Hopefully the mclean trade is the only trade we make, unless we can find suitable deals for our lesser players like bartram, miller etc.

  5. umm, don't port have pick 8 in this years draft. i think the order is

    us- 1 & 2

    tiges - 3

    freo - 4

    kangas - 5

    swans - 6

    eagles - 7

    port - 8

    hawks - 9

    dons - 10

    blues - 11

    lions - 12

    crows - 13

    pies - 14

    dogs - 15

    cats/saints - 16/17

  6. Does any one remember the way C.J left the club and the way he was sent of by D.B... In a Flash there will more departures...

buddy, mind telling us the other name(s) that you know? i will believe you if you say it, unlike those other tossers, jk

    haha, check out the quotes

  7. With the key forward issue, it adds another string to morabito's bow. He has been labeled as a player who could develop into a pavlich/goodes. As a midfielder, he also adds to our team, because he is a big body around the contest and is someone that can break the lines, and with the amount of zoning in today's game, you need a player who will break up opposition zones.

I can see Bate, morton, jurrah, watts and potentially morabito all rotating between our forward/midfield, which could create a very dangerous mix for opposition in the future.

But the club should pick who they believe is best available.

  8. yup, eddy for max, if you compare eddy's stats to his game before against the pies ( 8 disposals and 7 tackles - 4 disposals and 1 tackle), he should be a certainty to be dropped. As well with ottens pinch hitting up forward, the sainters will need the extra big man and it would be a great story if the saints can get up with maxy.

  9. It is my opinion that Martin has temendous upside. He basically came from nowhere these championships. By memory in his last game he had 21kicks up to half time and just was outstanding. He dwilted to have 27 and kicked a goal. He was and is no where as fit as some of these big name players. He is also, the best kick amongst these up and comers.I feel he is another Buckley type. Trengrove, is definately better at this stage -but has the upside, improvement. Also rate another young lad- Josh Toy- he seems to be the forgotton one- mainly because he is suppossed to be picked up by GC. HASN'T AS YET. I would rate him also as top 5,with a hell of upside..This is what Barry Prendergast, Turnbull, Connolly have to decide. In recruiting, one has to also look at the current playing list and where these new recruits fit in.It is called the Macro picture.I am more concentrating on talls. Will be looking at a few today. Give my update later.

what have your previous tips been like with past drafts? like who did you rate from last years draft and so on.

  10. I also think that players of his size, speed and power do not grow on trees and he should be persisted with.

Sounds like morabito, except with him,you get a more skillful player and someone who could probably play forward/midfield/defence as opposed to bucks. If we pick up Morabito, then buck's will probably be gone for sure.

  11. Either way there is bound to be some kind of pressure when taking the kicking test, won't 16 clubs be watching the invitees? and as well their results could ultimately determine whether they get drafted or not.

Also from what i have seen, Morabito's skills look alright, but yes there is some room for improvement with his disposal. You cant pass morabito off that easily. He is a unique kind of player, he has pace, strength, height, is a booming kick, and has versatility, which seems to have been a common theme in our recent draftees. atm i reckon the club is 65% trengove, 35% morabito, but a final decision will be made after draft camp depending on the player's interviews and athletic results etc.

  12. i think its time to show buckley the door. unfortunately injuries hurt his progress this year, but i just don't think his skills are up to it

ATM, i share the same opinion as you, it's a shame that buck's was injured this season, i hope he gets another year to prove himself, but if he gets delisted i wont see it as a surprise.

  13. This is probably of no surprise to anyone but I have it on about the highest possible authority that pick 2 will defintely be Trengove or Morabito. The decision has not yet been made between the two.

good to hear that these 2 are locked in for pick 2 and that morabito is still in the equation. i am very keen on morabito, and i reckon this guy could be a marquee player if he can fulfil his potential.

  14. as if aaron would leave the club, also there is no way we would take that deal, this sounds like absolute BS! Aaron knows where our club is headed, is surrounded by a great indigenous culture and surely will have a hefty pay rise once he renews his contract with us.

  15. Bit harsh really to say injuries and form have curtailed his appearances, when he has managed 19 from 22 games. Unless they're referring to last years 14 games.

i reckon the call about injuries and form are fair. Look at his output this season compared to past seasons, his level of influence has clearly fallen this season, and he looks like a snail out on the field (injury?) , hence the "club's" decision to give him a pay cut.

  16. yeh, this guy seems like he will be a goner for sure. He has had 2 years to prove his worth on the rookie list and hasn't really achieved anything.

Also great to hear scully is confirmed, but he was never not gonna be no.1
