  1. I don't understand the "experience" comments re Lumumba.. All i've seen is him getting the ball, running with it and banging it it a mile in the air, On a slightly different matter, does anyone think think this this years scarf is a bit short?
  2. Nate Jones to have a great year. He battled under injuries last year but this this year now he is fit and with more elite mid-fielders in the Dees team, he'll be have a great year. For sure.
  3. Poor Couchy was a garbo, then a car salesman, then ran for parliament for The National Party. You couldn't accuse him of being a socail climber.
  4. Nice article on Steven Smith, http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/new-mcc-chief-steven-smith-has-some-regrets-over-his-200game-football-career-20150323-1m5vz1.html Terrific player Steve. One of the worst things I've seen on a footy field was Steve being carried off on a stretcher after a smash to the face from Leigh Matthews. Not the only demon to suffer that treatment.
  5. What I like about him is his ability to get possession, break clear and kick well into the forward line. Not bagging the valiant Nate Jones, but he often gets caught with the ball where Gus can open the game up and give the forwards a good crack at it.
  6. The "MFC" bit looks like a blatant clone of the Carlsum jumper's "CFC". But hopefully, all this PR will get some of the luke warm Dee supporters off the bench and going to games and joining up. Of course we need to win games to keep those supporters on board. Are we great or what in the off-season these days?
  7. What a great player Tassie was. He never kept Hudson goalless. I think Barry Richardon from the Tiges was the only one who managed that. My memories are of Brian Dixon running into space on the wing wing when Tassie was kicking out after a point and Tassie putting a 60 yard drop kick into his path. Also showing Max Walker the ropes when Max was starting out as a back pocket ruckman. Maybe Tom Mac can fill Tassie's boots.
  8. I know Leapster ... I known Titus .. I wish we were all so well connected.
  9. Brayshaw has to play mid-field. He is one of the few who can use speed and run straight into the forward line from the middle and break up the defence.
  10. Roosy believes in the Tinkerbell effect. In the Peter Pan Pantomime Tink has a near death experience and is only saved from dying by the belief of the kiddies in the audience. Lets all believe in the Dees against Freo!
  11. Game day omen ... if one of our players gets a big write up in the paper on the day of the game, we are doomed.
  12. One of my favourite memories of the great man occurred not quite on the field. He was walking off up the race after he played a great game at Scumville, drinking from his water bottle. Some mentally defective filth supporting child could be seen throwing foul abuse at Jaka. Without looking, Jaka squirted his water bottle at the retard, hitting it squarely in its face. Beautiful. I can't find the clip anywhere unfortunately.
  13. dee-eee, I remember one game against the f!lth in the 70s where the hapless dees were making a brave comeback late in the last quarter and got within a goal. The ball was kicked into the dees goal square, Punt Rd end. G & K Osborne went up for it and spolied each other. The ball was rushed away and it was yet another loss for us. Ossie was like Frank Spencer. On the brother topic, does anyone remember Chris Aitken? Spectacular high flying full forward and I seem to have heard he was the brother of Wilbur Wilde.
  14. Ron Barassi was taken in and treated like a son by the Smith family in the 50s after Ron's dad died in WW II. After Norm was terribly treated by the MFC in 1965 it was hardly surprising that Ron left the club shortly after. I don't think it was a $cully $ issue. It was surprising to me that he came back.
  15. read this RobbieF. This happened after Col was escorted out of the club after falling asleep. He was lucky. http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/didaks-lunatic-ride/2008/05/08/1210131141123.html?s_cid=rss_news Colin has an alcohol problem
  16. Colin needs to have a good look at himself. Getting in touble for kicking his girlfriend, thrown out of a club when he fell asleep while was drinking with Didak and Didak went on to accompany a thug on a shooting spree and now this. How many hints do you need?
  17. My memory of Cam leaving is that one of his reasons was the poor treatment of Junior who was dumped well before there was any public discussion of Cam leaving.
  18. Agree with a couple of you guys. The talent is there up forward now. But are the mid fielders good enough yet to get it to them regularly?
  19. I can't believe that people can't see the obvious. Bate is a left footer who can't turn onto his right foot. He will never make it as a mid fielder let alone a forward.Current age footballers must be able to kick on both feet. Bate can't. See Shane Zatuck some years back.
