Emailed the club today to find out training dates, but alas, the office is closed until Jan 18. The club seems unconcerned about fans wanting to support our team at training. The only message on the website is from last year advising that all training would be at Casey due to works at Gosch's Paddock. I'm keen to take my grandkids to a session before they go back to school.

I would hate to be a Hawthorn player today. This is the beginning of our run to the premiership. Today it all comes together Kossie 5, Trac 4, Oliver 42 possessions and 2 goals, Max 320 possessions and 6 goals! Heaven help the Hawks.

A big win tomorrow suddenly seems more important than ever after the favour the cats have done us. If Freo do their bit against the lions we'll know the big fella is smiling down on us. Blessed be the Red and blue, for they have it all in front of them.

Blessed are they who refuse to be weighed down by common sense and logic for they will inherit a dynasty the likes of which has never been seen before. Blessed are they who keep the faith for they will be smiling smugly on the way to get the paper on Saturday morning.

Now that I've managed to stop getting teary every time I watch the replays of that second half, I think I'm rational enough to post something. What an amazingly emotional night watching our team demolish the dogs. I can now get on with my life without mfcss plaguing my footy experience. I'm officially free of this insidious syndrome. The world will be a better place and the shadows of 57 years will no longer darken my days. Sounds dramatic, but that's how significant this victory is to me.

I don't understand this eery feeling of calmness. Apart from the odd flash of MFCSS inspired doubt, I'm not at all nervous. Maybe things will change as the day progresses, but right now, I think I finally trust our team.

After his suspension and now the two weeks of rest mixed into the finals, he will basically be as fresh as a player gets. All his injury history related to things which continually wear out and need to be rested or monitored - this could not be a better set-up for him for this one game.
His finals were probably two of his best three games for the year (Geelong round 4 the other) and add to a pretty good finals record overall.
Really possibility of doing something special. Maybe not pretty all the time, but special.
Had this conversation with my son this morning. He reminded me that, apart from being the better team, we have Jack. Can't wait to see Jack do his thing. Bulldogs will be looking over their shoulders and second guessing all afternoon. Jack aint gonna wanna lose this one. The Norm Smith will look good around his neck.

Vindication for the past 60 years of supporting. Vindication for putting my children through the pain of being Melbourne supporters. Vindication for the thousands of dollars spent on memberships and merchandise; not to mention alcohol to numb the pain. Retribution to all those who have belittled and patronised us over the years. Joy for my grandchildren who have stuck with me despite being tempted by other, more followable, clubs. Peace for my long suffering wife who has put up with my moods, my frustration and my angry outbursts. Above all, the pure joy of winning the one game that really matters each year.
It's been a long haul and there have been times when I've questioned my sanity but I'm proud to say I've stayed the course and been true to the red and the blue. I deserve this. We all deserve this. This is our time. Make it happen Dees! Do it for the fans. Do it for Ronald Dale Barrasi, Robbie Flower, Jimmie, and all of those who've pulled on the red and the blue and given their all over the past 57 years.

How are we celebrating Father's Day? Excuse the lack of reverential clothing. My eldest son sent me this t shirt. I'm planning to wear it until Grand Final day and maybe beyond.

I guess, in time, I would be satisfied, but the closer we get the more my expectations rise. I know I would be bitterly disappointed if we were to lose the prelim but I would get over it and accept that it was a pretty good year. However, if we were to win prelim and then lose the grand final I'd be absolutely devastated. There's a lot of MFCSS at play here.
