  1. Yep, during preseason most of the serious injuries seem to occur from innocuous incidents. Just the other day an Eagles player did his ACL changing direction.
  2. Well said, I was in Chicago a few months ago staying in Wrigleyville and they nailed it with all the Cubs stuff. There were pop up shops with all the gear on game days but outside of that there's a massive shop opposite the stadium open every day. I reckon there a three or four places that we could open and see how they go, 1. Melbourne Central, 2. Bourke Street, 3. Southern Cross Station, and 4. Melbourne Airport. Aside from selling merchandise its great for exposure, I'd expect a place like Melbourne Central would be great for tourists who just buy it as a souvenir. I bought a Mets cap in New York because I liked the style, don't really care for the Mets though but it reminds me of my trip. All the people I met while traveling the states all had baseball caps they had bought while travelling, one guy had a bunch of different teams.
  3. The name rings a bell, but from what I've been able to read about him it sounds like he's a medium size forward with big left foot.
  4. Yuk, looks like something the Melbourne Vixens would wear.
  5. I don't know what the temperature's are like at the start of the year in Darwin but if its more favourable it would be nice to get that out of the way early in the year when it might still be "wet season". Otherwise 2 home games in Alice over the course of year would be better.
  6. 2 teams that we don't normally draw much of a crowd to at the G so if we have to play in the NT those aren't the worst options.
  7. Surprised Freo didn't get a mention, they did quite well in adding some players who should have an immediate impact without selling the farm. Kersten and McCarthy will help their scoring power, Hill will be good on the spacious Subiaco and Hamling holding down a defensive post. Then they've got 7, 18, 35, 40 to try and snap up some youth.
  8. If it's a Friday night game, I'll take it!
  9. So GWS have picks 2, 15, 31, 37, 51, 55, 60, 69 and 109, while we have 57, 59, 84. I cant see them turning over enough players to use most of those picks so I wonder if we might be able to better our draft position? Without being to unrealistic, pick 59 for 55 and 69 (55 & 60 if they're generous)?
  10. Newton and Dawes would probably be the other 2 to make way.
  11. Didn't think about the 2017 1st round pick, probably fair. 2016 2nd round alone would be unders, that's currently 35 before compo/academy and all that jazz.
  12. Gold Coast would still want a player a part of that trade. Even then, how do they some how get Mitchell from Sydney, they'd have nothing to offer!? "Yeah g'day Sydney, so Tom Mithcell for a 4th round pick and Shoenmakers?"
  13. I wonder if this might have a negative effect on some of Hawthorns players if they're being offered up as a part of deal. I'm sure we all remember Daniel Bradshaw being a happy and loyal Lion before Voss attempted to move him on in the Fevola trade which worked wonders for him. Bradshaw wasn't happy about that, didn't go to Carlton but ended up requesting a trade to Sydney. Unfortunately his time at Sydney was cut short due to injuries but he managed 28 goals in 9 games.
  14. Some teams just never learn, Yarran last year, now Motlop
  15. I disagree, Michie likely to be delisted, Max King highly likely to be delisted, White is medium sized defender who isn't quick but has a thumping kick, wouldn't be upgrading him and possible delisting, Wagner 1st year rookie, looked OK but should stay on the rookie list for another year. Unless someone has managed to hold a spot in the best 22 while on the rookie list there isn't any real need to upgrade them.
  16. Dunn and pick 44 to Brisbane for pick 28? As we'll be highly likely to send 26 to Essendon for Hibberd that's the only realistic way I can see us getting back into the second round. If any teams wanted Dawes or Newton I cant see them giving up anything better that a 4th rounder at best,
  17. They should put an uber driver in the race for a laugh.
  18. Pavlich was linked to return back to Adelaide every time he was coming out of contract which never happened. I think Bryce is quite happy in Melbourne.
  19. Reminds me of Ricky Ponting Cricket on the old playstation when they didn't pay for the licensing of player names (other than Ricky himself). Solid team of Gilchurst, MacGrith, Witsen, etc.
  20. I can only assume that the full stop and comma keys are missing from your keyboard? When every sentence I read ends in exclamation or question mark, I feel like I'm on the Frankston line and some ice fiend has just got on screaming his head off and I just don't listen to the garbage he's yelling.
  21. I don't get the love for Hannath just because he trained with us like 5 years ago in the preseason. To me, him and Spencer are no different, Hannath has done absolutely nothing at Fremantle. Considering Neeld was the one who was keen on him, I'm incredibly confident that missing him was blessing considering the other talent that Neeld brought in during his reign of terror.
  22. A Jong, Honeychurch or Hrovat would all add something to the Melbourne list. We have to many one paced midfielders, we need to nail this draft with some outside runners who aren't afraid to win their own ball.
  23. Key forwards are handy, but both this VFL side and their senior side show why its far more important to have midfielders that run both ways. If you can win the ball and move it quickly you'll get scoring shots rather slow movement and bombing to a key forward thats got 3 players on him.
  24. The Dogs went in against Collingwood massive underdogs with the bookies, much like their senior side over the last 3 weeks. Unfortunately I expect the Dogs will run over the top of Scorps, the Dogs were just clinical last week against Collingwood.
