We are the "good citizen" club, I would like a bit more of boldness and dare to step against the likes of bully media, clubs like Collingwood and Carlton.

Bro, this [censored] is in your head - as it is with others.
Keep sprouting it out if you like. It’s defeatist dribble when examined pragmatically.
    Cheers

Now, I can cop the criticism from Garry Lyon. Because he is a champion of the Melbourne Demons.

But to get insulted by a knuckle-dragging imbecile like Campbell Brown is beyond the pale.

He called the Melbourne Football Club "fragile" and "pathetic" for making up excuses.

Here is the link to the article: https://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/exafl-gun-unloads-on-fragile-dees-absolutely-pathetic-excuse/news-story/f4a53703b7ac54ec098740a3dee7c989

All I will say is that I hope the Melbourne Demons players stick this article to their locker doors in the change rooms.

They need to be motivated to seek redemption in season 2024 and beyond. Otherwise, insults from morons like Campbell Brown and other media snipers will continue!

This utter disrespect makes my blood boil! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

But unless we win those cut-throat finals at the MCG infront of huge crowds then this shadow of being "mentally weak" shall continue to follow the Melbourne Football Club. Time for a new mindset of stoicism and determination from both our players and our coaches.

Maybe he was talking about their members that post online.

Fair dinkum, don’t waste your time and energy on acknowledging these [censored].

You have just submitted yourself to a more stupider level than Brown by getting your knickers in a twist about this.

    Goodness me.

  3. The greatest travesty of his time at the club was not running onto Optus stadium in the GF when it was in the bag.

I understand the ethics from the ‘game rules’ side of things but how about at a personal level?

I very much doubt the AFL would’ve stopped it….. 😬

He was okay. Had some moments. Still didn’t trouble the scorer.

Forwards must kick goals. It comes with the job description.

Well he wasn’t Robinson Crusoe in that regard for much of this year.

You do appear to have a bit of a hard-on for him though it seems.

12 weeks ago Goodwin said Grundy is now at a club that values him.

Disgusting how Grundy has been treated.

On the surface that’s an easy assessment based off rhetoric from Goodwin needling the Pies. Pretty stupid of the coach.

But the pragmatist and stoic in me won’t be drawn into the emotion - but rather see it for what it is.
It was a hunch that they thought they could copy cat Geelong with two talls (Stanley and Blicsavs) and win a flag.

Unfortunately for both parties it hasn’t worked.

The window was now and sad to say it may have already closed. The peak for our top 5 players was the last few years and don’t think we have a talented enough young line up to plug the gaps, there’s a few like Rivers, Jvr maybe. We need to recruit fast as 2024 could see the beginning of our decline as other teams start to rise, look at Carlton and GWS and those teams knocking at the 8.

Let’s just compete as a team and as supporters- well, show support.

We have bombed the ball inside our forward since Moloney/Jamar. We just happened to pinch the 21 flag. Supporters are happy enough with that.

Agree at a very basic level but we both know it’s more complicated.

Regardless, this method of forward entry cannot persist. A massive overhaul is required.

Me neither...all the talk of lanes.

I just can't see Maynard in the lane of the ball.

If it was a legit smother attempt wouldn't this be his lane.

If you watch Kossie here he jumps at the ball. H-E moves to his right as Gus did...unfortunately into Maynards lane which was away from the ball.

    Kudos for the clip!

Perfectly represents why the Maynard incident is ‘very rare indeed’.

  9. I’ve just watched the incident again and I just cannot believe we are where we are.
The argument that Maynard had to brace for contact is absolutely farcical. If you watch the incident again, Maynard has enough time (when his hands are up, attempting to smother) to them quickly bring them  all the way down and brace for contact, which is ridiculous! if his arm movements had gone only 50% of the way down his hands would’ve been able to push onto Angus and possibly result in less injury or impact.

But as we all know, Maynard had more than enough time to change his arms action from 180 degree change in direction to only a 90 degree change - essentially half as long.

The whole thing is a stitch-up.

It’s like it’s  the AFL version of the Matrix where the public begin to wake up to more and more of the controlling nature of the AFL and begin to hate them.
At AFL house it must be quiet some culture to conform to, to be able stomach this contrived sheetshow and do your job.

I’ve never read an AFL career blurb or job ad but I’m almost certain that it would say “those with Sociopathic tendencies are encouraged to apply.”

Laura proving to be, thus far, just another one of the corrupt boys. Really bloody disappointing. I was hoping a woman could set this pathetically backwards boys club on the right path.

Unfortunately Jaded, in the culture of that organisation anyone with that intention to how they will disrupt the boys club and how they want to change and break certain factions, will never get far.
We’ve all been promoted at some stage and we all know there’s a certain amount of arselicking.

Maybe it was a first attempt learning for her? Maybe it was an Academy award level performance in her first big issue and she nailed with aplomb and ticked off some kpis toward a massive bonus?

    Who frikkin knows.

I do know another Billy is in order.

    Very sorry to hear, McQueen

These things happen… we’re happy to take a philosophical approach to sudden death by accident but not with sports?

I was pretty passionate last night too but when you get the opportunity it’s easy to be reminded how mentally challenged we as humans are. 😂

Life is too short to hold such a deep grudge against such a great game. I definitely understand the resentment against the bad stuff but the good things about our game override that, for mine. Ignore the footy media, unless we win of course

    That’s wonderfully put mate.

We had a fatality at work today.

I’m reading this [censored] on here to try and detach myself from the awful thing that happened in the real world today.

It’s a faaarkkking game of football.
Get [peed] off but in context.
