In and out of there in '03 - '05. We used to travel up eastern Zambia and then speed boat over Lake Mweru to where we had a contract. It was deemed far too unsafe to make a direct path through DRC straight for the site - even with a wallet full of $USD10 notes to assist passage through police and immigration check points. Have you been there yourself?

If only my guts stayed the size it was back then, jazza.

I lived and worked in Zambia and the DRC for the best part of 6 years. Some of the things I've seen and experienced are quite amazing (and disturbing) when looking back at them.I have no idea what you do there Ascobar (I was in mining) but some of the more satisfying things we did as expats were to visit childrens orphanage's of which there were plenty of. We'd take along a few bags of maize meal and whole chickens which as you would know makes up the main staple diet - along with Kapenta (dried minnow like fish). We used to take the Sherrin along as well and taught the kids how to kick and handball and eventually tried to run some training drills. It was highly amusing to say the least. Such an amazing continent. Enjoy your time there.

Sorry to burst your bubble with this positive news, old dee. Must be doing your head in?

Not the most clever of power forwards when jostling at marking contests. Needs to improve in this area. Otherwise he's contributing albeit a little inconsistently.

Was a jet in SANFL and plays really well in intraclubs. Pick 4.

Great qtr by Grimesy. Very busy.

I'll be making the trip over again this year to support the boys against the Cats. I made the trip last year as well and enjoyed the day. Robbo was his usual decent host and we had the chance to have a real good chat with Jack Viney due to his foot injury at the time. This year it's a feed at the Duke and mix with club players and officials before heading to the 'G'. Anyone else heading along?

That's draft tampering, is it not?

Petrie actually acknowledged Tom on Grandstand as a really promising up and coming young defender.Maybe a forward who's been in the game for over ten years is qualified to make such statements compared to the rest of us guru's.

Just more vindication for the believers of a history of poor development versus the sample that believe we recruited dumb footballers. Still I can't get over the Toumpas vs Wines debacle. If Roosy and the other coaches can do to Toumpas what they've managed to do with Pedo I'll be very pleased.

Stuart Dew was 'very close' to joining Demons under Paul Roos
McQueen replied to DeeMfc's topic in Melbourne Demons
Using this theory you'd also love to have Mark Neeld from Collingwood. Hang on... -
I reckon as much as Roos demands a series of solid performances at Casey, conversely he needs to see at least two ordinary performances in the ones before the axe falls. Salem had a stinker against the Pies but Roos kept him in, albeit as the Sub. Riley will get another chance this week before Michie or others come into consideration IMO but I reckon he'll need to catch the eye. I'd settle for no disposals and knocking Harvey into next year.

I just coughed my toast up in laughter when reading that. Gold.

How the [censored] can a AFL player miss a sitter from 20m in front is beyond me. Talk about shooting ourselves in both feet.

Full praise to the Backline. They're keeping us in this game.

These [censored] umpires have a vendetta against us.

That ball was out of bounds.

Dwayne Russell commentating on Fox Footy. Awesome.

We're those comments made pre or post Mitch's retirement?

We've done some great trades with GWS but I don't believe Coniglio would be another one. They've got a surplus of forwards that I will happily trade our first rounder for before another midfielder. It surprises me that all of a sudden our midfield depth seems pretty reasonable but our forwards look light on, mainly due to doubt surrounding Jesse and the departure of Mitch. Let's pry Cameron or Patton from GWS rather than Coniglio.

That's got to be viewed as a disappointing return. Bernie Vince. Bernie Vince.

Quality conversation here. Let's just hope Hogan shows something before the seasons over. Maybe Watts will put on 15kg in the off season and become a full forward monster.
-
I'm not sure another KPF is required if Hogan comes good and Dawes remains competitive but hits the scoreboard a little more regularly. For me the void seems to have been created by Howe's move into defence. I think it was fairly widely accepted that Howe would be that third forward to bob up and kick a few here and there and maybe one day become a Bruest or Gunston type. Maybe he still has that ability and potentially under Roos he will provide. At the moment though he's made the back half his home.

I'd tip Dwyer will start sub.
