Viney. That's all.

An old chestnut of the "who do you want to see have a break-out season" genre of threads. Yeah Nah Bye, Sam. You played more AFL footy than me but I played my grades better, and harder. Just another of the NQR's we drafted who subsequently went on to another club that exposed their mediocrity.

Goodness me, I had this Freo supporter directly behind saying "haha, no pressure and look at these Melbourne idiots." Besides wanting to strangle him, I found myself agreeing with him. If Matt Jones is kept on the list next year I'll be flabbergasted. Preparing now.

I just want these development coaches to show me a clear outcome. Watts looked like it for a bit but has regressed... Toumpas can be a player but not without a great deal of work. Let's see what Macca and the rest of coaches can make of him.

I've seen enough stupid for one day. Outta here.

Even the hamburgers are wrapped in Freo branded paper. Fuggin..

I'm a pretty hardcore fan of this footy club but come half time I'll be heading for the car if we've not scored a goal. Beyond pathetic.

Kicking back acres goal when we're getting hammered? Yeah, right.

And our captain licks it bAck into the corridor. F M D

It sticks out like dogs balls when you're able to watch from the stands as opposed to Tele.

I was going but had to withdraw due to work commitments.

There's very little movement when we win possession. This game plan has no dare.

Had it on a string mate.

Still playing Supers and Master grades.

I was completely wrong with the above forecast. I've just got off the field myself from playing Masters footy and it's dry, warm and a little breezy. Played against Des Headland and Dale Kickett. We came second.

I was waiting for this.

It's going to be greasy conditions with the odd shower of rain passing through. Can't see it being completely dried out before this arvo. Expect a scrappy, low scoring game.

Playing finals next year is almost a prerequisite in keeping Hogan at MFC. The Dockers will lose some big name veterans and begin to slide in 2017 thereby losing some appeal. The Eagles will be around the mark for the next 5 years based in their average list age and pose a bigger risk, although with Kennedy and Darling they are very healthy for power forwards. MFC must show vast improvement next year to keep the Hulk.

Jack Viney admitted to his own father that Toumpas was a better player than Wines. That's directly from a kid whom played against Toumpas! There's plenty of evidence that Toumpas was a pick 4 and if we passed on him he wouldn't have lasted much longer before getting snapped up.I agree that during his early days the club was at its lowest ebb but other players have pulled thru that period such as Viney himself and have subsequently adapted to the AFL standard required to be able to cut the mustard. Toumpas case is a difficult one and I reckon it's been VERY clear that Roos has placed so much emphasis on development given the amount and quality of coaches he's brought in to the club. If Toumpas was drafted at > pick 40 then I'd be thinking we'd go looking for something to replace him with but, the fact remains he was a highly credentialed and skilled junior. For once, can we please back our ability to develop this type of talent?

If only the lesson was so easy.Hawthorn have both skills and mongrel. They drafted skilful players and developed their unsociable football. MFC need to draft skilled players and have started doing that. Roos contested football is not so unique anymore as nearly every other club places huge emphasis on the contest. Getting the footy out is only part of the equation. Having the skilled players to use it efficiently is becoming more and more important the way the game is currently evolving. We need to be careful and not over compensate on grunt mids which can win the ball but then butcher it. Developing the mongrel is far more achievable than improving a players skill set.

I can't believe Ross Lyon persists with Zac Dawson. Bet he'll be BOG now. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 22
McQueen replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hang on.... Is it Monday? -
I'd like to see the club persist with Toump. I said earlier in the thread that guys like Toumpas should be the perfect development projects for our substantial FD related group of coaches. On the other side of the coin is the fact we drafted a bloke only two years older from a lower league who loves the rough stuff and made an immeadite impact. I think there will be ample places opened up on the list through other delistings, trades and FA's without having to move Toumpas. His character cannot be questioned, his skills are pretty good and he's only 21 years of age.

Looks like it's going to be wet too. Might've eased a bit by Sunday arvo. -
I'm starting to get a bit tired of hypotheticals regards this footy club. I hope winning regularly puts an end to it.
