Semantics! No injury, incidental contact in play. What semantics? Charge should be withdrawn.

I think it’s the correct spelling and pronunciation of his name.

The AFL’s arguments are deranged. Reeks of people who haven’t played football ever.

Get the lawyers out of the process. Their litigation is ridiculous.

Resolve cases via 3 reps who have actually played the game.

  3. I think it’s high time that all 18 clubs should lobby the AFL and media outlets for an immediate ceasefire on commentating in a purely subjective manner on match day reports.

I understand it gets them clicks and obviously revenue as well but ffs the damage it is doing to the game is being amplified after every single charge - whether it be obvious or not.

There’s now 4 frikken umpires on the field and not even they can pull a report of their ahole like the MRO can.

    So frustrating. 🤬

The appeal will result in a quashing of ANY penalty, which seems obvious to anyone with half a brain. The bigger question, which many of you have raised, is why was he given a penalty in the first place? Why is there no process of oversight to make sure these ridiculous judgements aren’t made to begin with? The cynic in me thinks it’s deliberate attention seeking…..clickbait driven by controversy. Otherwise it is just amateurish beyond comprehension.

    It was purely incidental.

It’s wasn’t careless, neither was it intentional.

And there was no malice involved.

    They’re rooyening the game.

We were discussed this topic and she agreed, “it is wery arooying”

I was at the game and close by.

It was just a desperate spoil.

Was it clumsy or wreckless? No, he looked where his opponents were and focussed solely on punching the ball.

To say "he made him earn it" is utter BS.

If Roo was going to make him earn it, he would have launched sideways and absolutely destroyed him with a hip and shoulder spoil.

He actually put himself in danger by staying open to the contest with a sole intention to get a fist on the ball and took the contest chest on.

It was a fantastic spoil nothing more.

And I think that’s the distinct difference between what we all saw on the TV versus the spectators in front of the play.
I cannot see how a tribunal would rule against something that they cannot see.

I'm reckoning we'll appeal and then we should be able to convince the tribunal that JVR was playing the ball in an attempt to spoil (a football move)

Do that and he has to get off otherwise any spoil, anytime, could be deemed as a reportable offence (if any sort of contact is made to the head or neck area in those spoiling attempts)

If he still gets weeks then a precedent will be set and we'll have stacks of players being cited on a weekly basis (or should do)

It's a contact sport which means that incidental contact is going to made to the head area on a constant basis

If it's a deliberate strike, elbow or shoulder or hip to the head then fair enough, cite the perpetrator

But a spoiling attempt?  No way

And not only this…. But why can’t the MRO look at the ages of some these young fellas getting booked for F’all.
6 games in but he’s subjected to the same criteria as a 300 gamer. The game sense is poles apart.

I just hope we really nut-up over this one.
Not just for Jacob and the club, but for the competition.
It is seriously becoming more and more farcical and frustrating as each year goes by.

The notion of taking your eyes off the ball is a joke. He was 10m away when he looked to see where the player was. He then tried to connect with the footy. If taking your eye off the ball is the trigger for suspension- how far back can you go? 20m? 50m?

    Agree wholeheartedly.

Sometimes all you have is the opposition player positioning to gauge your spoil attempt when the ball is coming over the back.

Did he make him earn it? Of course. It’s part of the friggin game ffs.

  9. Okay so I’m pretty open to ideas here.

But seriously, wtf is Ben Brown (you know he’s our key forward)  doing in the VFL?
Is this a transition period where we are blooding the likes of JVR and the fact we’ve brought Chandler into the game and all of a sudden you know Fritsch is having a couple of very ordinary games. Spargo goes out of the team as well and the ‘controlled entry’ to our forward line scoring attempts is severely impacted.
It seems either a ‘wing-it’ approach or a meticulously planned in-season strategy.
I believe we’re in a real state of transition and it’s all part of a very carefully planned strategy to keeps this club at the top for an extended period.

Keen to hear what other people think. Cheers

Hunter’s cooked and Grundy’s a headless chook so there goes our recruits from last year.

Fritsch needs a wake up call.

Chandler’s struggling with his leg, had no explosiveness in the second half.

I thought Oliver had left behind these shocker games in 2020 but he’s had a few this year now.

May and Lever madness bubbling along. Petty could help but he gives no offensive drive and that’s how the ball gets stuck at the wrong end. Disco was really coming in to the game late in the 3rd with some intercept marks, not sure they subbed the right guy.

When a team turns up the pressure and speed and we can’t get the backline set we’re coughing up goals.

And our ball movement just becomes gimmicky or bombing because too few of our players make quick accurate decisions.

And I thought I gave the Billie a fair crack on the weekends!

    Kudos to you sir.

No, but it will get us there. Was always going to be a tough game, and I will take any win from that. Again, we almost kicked 100 points, so even though the forward line needs work, we are still scoring. We will get better as the year goes on. No point playing your best footy now. As Goody always says, the season is a marathon, no point going too hard early

The idea is to play consistent footy that will stand up in finals.

Yeah it was a tough game finals pressure will be immense compared to that and in my opinion we  aren’t working hard enough and applying enough pressure to win a final. If you think it’s gonna ‘click’ come September you’re a real gambler.

    Who and where ?

    The Swan Valley Vampires.

We can then begin a ‘Gothic’ round in the early 2030’s where the Demons, Devils and Vampires mercilessly feast on all the other hapless club animals in Perth Stadium that will aptly be renamed the ‘Blood Bath’.

That’s my Elevator speech for when they begin the recruitment process for Dill.
