Good call on Grimes playing that role. I feel he makes too many mistakes from a skill perspective that seem to always result in turnovers but he's such a great reader of the play from that half back line.

Dawes. I can't see him getting a decent new contract. Pedo offered more than him last year both in rucking and scoring before doing his wrist. With Weideman now on the list, who I think will get half a season worth of games in preparation for 2017, Dawes might be offered a one year deal for a bit of depth.

Jayden Hunt is looking particularly ripped and a good size. -
I never mentioned 'competitive beasts'. And I can guarantee that those blokes you've mentioned above are more competitive than half the blokes on our list right now. Crazy comparison.

I now have genuine concern that Watts will not last past next year. The list is being moulded into one of fierce competitors who are aggressive at the pill and man. Unless something miraculous happens during this pre season and Jack turns into the player we all want him too, I can't see him being a valuable contributor to the new team ethos. Hit the gym, Jack. It's quite possibly your only salvation.

Strategy. And a good one. And they can play footy okay too.

Either or, he's going to have far less time and space next year but there's no doubting Oliver's ability. -

Obviously they were the passages of play where he either got out traffic or dished it off to the best option. I'm sure he would've got pinned for HTB plenty of times as well. The impressive thing to me was he just seemed have that natural nous to dance his way out of congestion, rather than a JKH who tries admirably, but never looks comfortable in doing so. -

Goodness me, that kid will play senior footy next season. How many opposition players did he turn inside-out in that footage? Tough, composed, skilful and a fair dose of mongrel. -

Sheez. We didn't draft the kid so it's okay to hang crap on him, is it? I feel sorry for any kid that ends up at the dung heap. -

Absolutely agree. However, he's no superstar. A very good player indeed.

A 400 game player, thank you.

That same argument could be made for the Bombers with Daniher. Bombers might snare Wiedeman before our pick 7. -
I would definitely shed a tear if he was ripping it up over at the Tigers.

WGAF now anyway. Look forward.

It was on this day (like really) back in 2002 that 'Michael Jackson' famously dangled his infant son from a third story balcony. How the media overlooked that obvious connection is quite remarkable. Well done MFC.

Extended the extra year for a flag I reckon. Wise decision.

I get the admiration for Harmes but I don't think he's going to be the surprise packet let alone a regular 22 next season unless we're hard hit by injuries again. The kid has some tools and passion for the jumper so he's going to be a favourite but he's only just been elevated off the rookie list. Instead of Jordie Mac, Bail, Riley and Michie as competition for spots he's going to have Grimes, B Kennedy, Hunt, Newton and Bugg. He's got a job in front of him. Wish him the best.

I've got video of my young bloke when he was 3 yeas old doing the same. 21st birthday material.

Newton is an interesting one. He has the build and good awareness in close but seemed to play an outside role last season. He kicked some goals and looked a likely type at times. If it's his defensive game and tank that kept him out of a regular senior game then he's every chance of becoming a much better player. A potential standout, I'm not so convinced.

Not really a surprise packet but I'm really looking forward to big Maxy Gawn maintaining the rage and having a stellar season.
