How many games have we played in those conditions? That's right - none. Geelong have played their last 3 in these conditions, and are the best wet weather team in the comp. They had bigger bodies and a lot more experience. They knew that the ball would always fall short and so were ready for it. We put in, tried hard and tackled (things virtually unseen under the inept one) - a valuable learning experience for a light and inexperienced team. Disappointing but expected.

Whether the allegedly great man is going to coach us or not, the announcement could not be made before the last round as it would otherwise risk undermining the excellent job Craig is doing now. While he is in contention, Craig can't be seen as a lame duck. If Roos is coming, the gnome could announce after round 22 that coaching is not for him - that it no longer drives him. Meanwhile, the rooster could be hatching plans for next year in peace and quiet (and in conjunction with the club). After round 23 he is announced as coach.

Fitzy is already showing more hunger and combativeness than Yarran has shown in his career. Micky would happily do a trade. Only a madman would accept it. Fitzy will be (barring injury) a wonderful weapon for this club in the future. He reminds me of a fast Big Bob J.

An former captain of our club, who worked at other clubs as well, once said to me over a cup of tea, " well...if I've learned one thing in all my years in football, it's that everyone at club level lies to you a lot of the time. I now believe nothing that's said to me (by people in the game) until I see the proof."

We still need big experienced bodies. Will never be the player he could have been. But, unfortunately, we still need him. So it's a no brainer - we can afford him and we need him - we re-sign him, providing he wants to stay. We also need him to want to stay as a statement of faith in the club.

The umpiring was atrocious but was made up by sydney's missing a number of sitters. Totally unlike a Neeld coached effort. They only went into their shells late in the third qrtr. Craig changed that attitude at 3/4 time. It's like watching a different team.
