Don't think it's really Jurrah's thing, he's super media-shy.

Is the Swans game from last year equal our optimum?
Striker475 replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd tack onto that the first quarter against the Hawks. -
Luckily he did make something of an impact, the stats sheet was good for him considering only a quarter played. If he doesn't play against Wet Toast, I'll be unhappy.

From what I understand with Port, it's much more about supporter wealth issues. They have the support, but because they're so working-class the support actually can't afford to buy memberships.
-
They're also two of the smaller clubs. North should not get a blockbuster. We get as many fans to Melbourne-North as we do to Melbourne-Brisbane. The Dogs I'm not sure about - but that's something for their club administration. But definitely not North. I get the feeling that they are indeed a dying club, and right now it seems like nothing will turn that around.

That must be why there are rumours of Bucks Night being selected floating around...

It's not that many though. Essendon & Collingwood - ANZAC Day & the return fixture (due to the revenue arrangement) Melbourne - QBD Port & Adelaide - Showdown WCE & Freo - Western Derby Sydney & GWS - Sydney showdown (as of next year) Brisbane & GC - QLD Derby Richmond - Dreamtime Carlton & Collingwood - Those rivalry games are an event of themselves So you're talking Bulldogs, Norf, Hawthorn and Geelong. Of those four - Hawthorn have the Tassie arrangement plus a huge supporter base. - Geelong have Kardinia Park which provides far more revenue per home game than any of their Melbourne home games. And the other two are in financial trouble. The reality is, the 'sharing' isn't needed. In fact, it's only one or two clubs, one of which is seriously struggling anyway which would need such an arrangement.

Honestly, I don't agree. You can have one-sided games, yes. But you can have fantastic ones. Wasn't it two years ago where Essendon came out and pulled an absolute blinder to win it?

Honestly, the club needs to work on promoting Queen's Birthday. There's the opportunity to turn that game into a June ANZAC Day. Really pump up the Collingwood rivalry, get as many Melbourne supporters along as possible since we all know the filth will all rock up regardless. If we can get 80,000 year-in, year-out at Queen's Birthday it will be a boon for the club.

POTENTIAL EMERGENCY SWAP FOR BYE Radio Stint might be on the way to be dropped. Up to replace him is either Movies or A Weekend At Home. Not sure which one is the bigger threat...

Interesting take. I agree with the first point wholeheartedly and Stef is starting to show that. Of the group in the second point... - Petterd has still played very little football, with the shoulder issue. I think that he'll be more likely to be a goalkicker long-term, but short term he's not as likely. - Dunn I'm still not sold on. Yes there's the 'defensive forward' thing but I've never liked him as a player, don't think he offers much. - Bate is superbly hot-and-cold. I don't think he's long-term, especially once a Watts or Cook become superb. Cale is coming on. Once again though, he does have injury troubles which will slow him down. But he's showing signs. Wonna is proving himself to be superb paired with Jurrah. Maric I'm still unsure of. Jones.....I really don't know. He's got grit, he's willing to fight at the contest like few others. But I just don't know if he has the ball skills to truly be a threat.

PS3 is still playing for the seconds, he's been terrible all season. Xbox got hit with an illness - reports of red rings around his eyes.

Long as they don't release Twitter to tag Jones, cos that'd be serious trouble

I was sitting there for 20mins trying to work out who I forgot.

Saturday, 2.10pm, MCG Melbourne B: Bartram, Frawley, Garland HB: Grimes, Rivers, Tapscott C: Gysberts, Moloney, Trengove HF: Dunn, Watts, Green F: Wonnameiri, Jurrah, Davey R: Jamar, Sylvia, Jones Int: Bail, Bennell, Morton Sub: Newton The Bye B: Booze Bus, Couch, TV HB: Holiday, Relations with the Missus, Studying C: Long drive, Partying, Footy Show HF: Radio Stint, Twitter, Family Time F: Kids Classes, Facebook, Relaxation R: Friends, McDonalds, Physio time Int: Work experience, Remote Communities, Tiwi Islands Sub: Sin Bin The Bye did a job on Adelaide a couple of weeks ago and has seemingly scared the crap out of St Kilda, but I just think Melbourne have got better depth and class and will steamroll them. Tiwi Islands in for their first of the year, whether he will have an impact isn't known yet.

Ferrari should shed Massa and put Webber with Alonso. That said, Webber would never approve of being the number 2 to Fernando.

Scully Out for Another ... now ... back to Six Weeks
Striker475 replied to Allen Jakovich's topic in Melbourne Demons
On a scale of 1 to FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU it's definitely a FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU -
Right now we honestly need to look at winning at least 2 and possibly all 3 of the next 3 games. Wet Coke are the obvious possible loss, they're playing really well, but Adelaide and Norf are both highly beatable right now. If we drop two or god forbid all three the finals are a write-off.

Scully Out for Another ... now ... back to Six Weeks
Striker475 replied to Allen Jakovich's topic in Melbourne Demons
Everyone saying it's a 'mystery' injury it isn't. It's a reoccurance of the bone stress issues that he had back in 2009 while he was playing in the U18s - an issue that he had already when he was recruited. It's a different sort of knee injury for clubs to manage, so I figure the medicos are taking their time over it has a lot to do with them being unsure about whether the injury is actually healed up or not. Can't we just calm down on the paranoia? Tom has said it's going to be handled at the end of the year. The club have said the same thing. While I know there's the whole 'has he signed already' thing, honestly, we are NOT going to find out unless it leaks to one of the major journos in this town. And we've gone probably 3 months of them sniffing around Scully's managers, Scully's family, Melbourne AND GWS looking for signs that he's signed with nothing coming out from anywhere. Which leads me very much to believe that he hasn't signed a thing yet. Regardless, it'll be sorted out at the end of the year. Right now he's got a weird injury, and, well, weird injuries happen. We just need to stop wasting hot air over it. Right now, anyway, with how well Gysberts is playing I'm not sure we need him. I'd rather Gys how he's playing now than a half-fit Scully. -
Reading that Casey have the bye... Why not line up the Dees against Casey with a 6- or 8-deep bench for a practice match instead of one of the training sessions? I mean, we do have players who need it. Line up a (somewhat) weakened Dees with players like Strauss, Maric brought in, then line up Casey + a couple of Dees players (possibly including Watts). While it's not as good as an ACTUAL game, it would probably be better than the Gold Coast game for a contest and would hopefully help build some confidence. And yes, there is the injury risk, but there's injury risk in training too, and the match practice would be good.
-
It depends, if the spot is 9th Richmond are always in the running
-
Agreed, sounded like he had a good quarter. Hopefully he does play in the bye for Casey.

SUNDAY STROLL AS DEES HAVE FUN AGAINST THE SUNS
Striker475 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Even with the average state of the kicking, that was a very good win in the end. Not too much you can read into any of the Gold Coast games at this stage, unless they win one in which case the other side is officially crap. -
Regardless of the state of the kicking, I'm fine with that sort of win...the 3rd Quarter sounds like it was v. disappointing, but the rest of the game we were strong.
