Smashing it...

Overrated. Expects everyone to play around him because of his father's name and doesn't work. No way.
-
There's Pendles AND Goddard as targets, both possibly at that Ablett-esque level of payment really. No way they can do two Ablett-style contracts AND afford to get a raft of second-tiers like GC did.

the worst one is bloody Port - you want to see a club get raped? - The SANFL hold the license to run Port Adelaide (rather than, as with all the Vic clubs bar North, the members) - The SANFL also hold the license to the two Adelaide stadiums This means when Port negotiate stadium deals, it's the SANFL negotiating with itself. Coupled with how the SANFL despise Port Adelaide as a footballing entity, it's not surprised what's happening there. The AFL have stepped in and will end up having to take the club away from the SANFL to guarantee its survival IMO.

Look, I know there is the whole 'hurr we lost cos of the umps' argument. That's not the point I'm making. If you go through and watch the game again, it is painfully apparent that in a number of situations the umpire - in particular Ray Chamberlain - pays the most technical interpretation of the rules rather than that which is in the 'spirit of the game'. Couple that with 3-4 bleedingly obvious decisions which they missed and it adds up to a terrible umpiring day. Regardless of whether Melbourne is playing or not, the umpiring was awful. Especially in comparison to the Essendon and Carlton games, where it was in fact quite good and the game was allowed to flow.

Can I genuinely ask what MFCSS stands for? I have no idea

I think a couple of clubs might. The Bulldogs, with the Lake fiasco? Port (who are screaming for a hard defender)? GWS (hell, Karmichael gets a game!)? Hell, even Hawthorn could use him, although you figured they'd learn after the first two times. He's no Scarlett or Gadget, but he fills his role fairly well and is great as a counter to a KPF.
-
You make a great point. The thing people need to remember is that GWS is going to get two cracks at the uncontracted brigade - this year and next. Right now, it would be supremely dumb of GWS to put Scully on the Ablett-esque superstar money. That prices them out of the market (almost certainly) for Daisy, Pendlebury, Goddard and others who may come out of contract at the end of next year. Further to this, I think we need to be looking at a possibility of 1-3 Bulldogs players going there as part of a large trade deal. Think about it - you trade Gilbee, Higgins and perhaps Hill and get a pick 5 and a pick 17. That sort of thing will be looked at out west as well as at GWS - established players with bods on them to support the young'uns. Finally, Folau is on far sillier money than Karmichael. Remember that come trade time.

In terms of our kickouts, we should try the 'group at the top of the 50 and everyone run different directions' strategy. Seriously. Destroys a zone - since you can ping to the group if the opposition try to maintain their structures, but if they attempt to man on it frees up space for you.

I'll second that, followed by a hacking cough due to no voice after yelling today. Goddammit.

don't know of any that are running around the state leagues at the mo, at least not off the top of my head.

My 3 word player analysis V The peasant scum

Green - [censored] poor form Jones - not to him! Bartram - week too early? Watts - ok in glimpses Gysberts - nothing overly special Bennell - shut out Krakouer Frawley - some awful disposal Trengove - oddly off today Morton - kept pushing hard Sylvia - A game today McKenzie - did he play? Moloney - poor disposal really Jurrah - lazy or carrying Rivers - outmuscled, wrong opponent McDonald - played fairly well Scully - lots of nothing Martin - anonymous mostly today Gawn - raw but potential Howe - will be fantastic Jetta - average, average day Strauss - AFL suits him Evans - tried his best -
Because of Krakouer's touches, only maybe 5 did anything and Bennell shut Krakouer out of all bar maybe one (that I saw, I know he kicked one at the end that I missed) one-on-one. Body-to-body and leg-speed wise, Bennell was fantastic. As well as this, Bennell stayed as the small back while Krakouer shifted through the midfield for a time.

We need to start the war cry when he touches it. When he gets it, simply yell 'AND HOWE!' Works well.

Wasn't, but the fact that I was still vocal when it was clearly over probably was. I must admit, I love that wherever I sit, when I get loud it tends to mean that those around me do as a result. -

Was pretty good in the Olympic apart from the 76-year-old woman who told me to [censored] off in the snow in the 3rd quarter. Was GA, too. -
I honestly loved last year's clash strip, but am very 'eh' about this one. That said, keep the Baby Blues away from it. Light blue and pink, someone would think that we're in a nursery and the parents don't know the sex.
-
The call today from a neutral mate was that he looks like he's carrying. The calf strapping is very odd I must admit.
-
That was reprehensible out there today. Either the interpretation was the absolute technical one or it was simply not seen. Jesus. EDIT: This isn't a 'hurr we would have won if the umpires were fairer' thread, but more an outright criticism of the overall terrible quality of today's match officials.
