I think JKH will get second. Since it'll be the first year a bloke wins both the Coleman and the RS. -

Seems like they're absolutely rapt with him. Interesting. Wonder how he'll go if he chunks up a bit. -

Does anyone else simply not think he's as good as he was say 2 years ago?

To go back to my original point... I don't give a [censored] about primetime. Hell, I agree that unless you're playing good footy you don't deserve it because people won't tune in. But there is no reason why we can't play North at Etihad away and Richmond at the G at home. None. Swap 'em. The timeslot doesn't matter at all. The reality is for two years running the Melbourne Football Club has been totally shafted financially by the fixture. 7/11 of our home games are against interstate sides next year. While I do understand that two of those are the NT games, it is still completely ridiculous that we have SEVEN. We already play the most interstate sides in Melbourne of anyone in the comp. Hosting non-Victorian teams since GC's inclusion in 2011, including 2014. (Kudos to THE EQUALIZER on BF) 27 - Melbourne 25 - Hawthorn 23 - Dogs 20 - North 19 - Richmond 18 - St Kilda 17 - Collingwood, Essendon, Geelong 16 - Carlton 44 home games total. Maximum possible over that period is 27. We are averaging just under 7 home games against interstaters per year in that time - by comparison, Carlton are averaging 4. And people say 'wait til we've earnt it'. Jesus Christ. It's not like Richmond were all that great in 2011. Or North. Or Essendon.
-
Tell that to Port. I think the AFL at a minimum don't care if they don't actually want us on life support.
-
Is it protection? Possibly. Is it entitlement? When we are now officially the 'have-nots' as judged by the fixturing, I think there's a point. The AFL keep banging on about 'equalisation' yet you have the club struggling the most in the league suffer yet another awful fixture financially. And yet it's 'entitlement'. We've had [censored] for draws for 2 years. It's a death spiral - the [censored] draws mean we don't get the money to invest, which means we don't develop as well, which means we don't get better, which means we get shitter draws.

Melbourne sides - number of home games vs Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Richmond, Hawthorn Melbourne: 1 Hawthorn: 1 (4 possible) North: 3 Carlton: 3 (4 possible) Collingwood: 3 (4 possible) Essendon: 4 (4 possible) Richmond: 3 (4 possible) St Kilda: 3 Bulldogs: 3 While I know we as a club don't want to be reliant on opposition supporters for revenue, this is a fair dinkum joke. We simply don't have the supporter base to sustain not getting at least one extra decent home game per season. It's genuinely what will kill the club, and quickly too.

Would have if I could have, bad timing it was Rollo! Next time for sure
-
I think Roosy's had a word...said that now Mike has stepped back from his media stuff a bit it's time to fly the flag some.
-
Deserved it too. Still think he's got the capacity to be an absolute nightmare of a matchup. 196cm marking in the midfield with his silky touches, rotating down back to be the loose man intercepting or moving up forward to be a KPF relief? Bloody tough to go with that.
-
Melbourne polled less votes than GWS. And no [censored] PP.
-
MMQB is amazing.
-
I think there should be a Caro clause in here. She's a goddamn attack dog, and while I hated when she pursued us constantly, her handling this year of the Essendon saga has been absolutely superb. Her commentary on Dustin Martin has also been excellent despite her bias. I've got more time for her now for sure.
-
hahaha he has no chance There wouldn't be many AFL sites that truly 'make money'. 'land does because it functions off donations. BF does because of a paid membership scheme. No others will. The web traffic numbers you need to make money off click-through links are huge.
-
Normally wouldn't care as I've never been a part of 'Ology, until the idea of a 'supporter group' trying to throw some weight around came up. We've still in one of the most unstable times in club history, and there are a bunch of people trying to stifle debate and gain power in this situation for their own means. That, in and of itself, is quite concerning and speaks towards a potential further push. If you want proof of what these 'supporter groups' can do, just look at The Lions Roar with Brisbane which is currently trying to bring down the board. The means and the ends are both very concerning here.

Apologies Rollo, out unfortunately. Family function on the Sunday. Thanks so much again for organising though!

Has Josh Mahoney secured the GM of Footy Ops job?
Striker475 replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
The problem with Walsh as GMFO is he's not available yet IIRC. I think he's available from 1 November to satisfy the three-month window on football staff. It's the only problem though. -
GWS did it with Cameron. Hell, go back to when Roos himself was appointed - after stepping in as caretaker after being an assistant to Rocket!
