  1. Unfortunately the winner in me cannot see past us having a great year right now Scheudenfreude?
  2. So many wasteful players out there tonight. Spike McVeigh, Welsh, Ryder, Alwyn Davey, Prismall...and then the kids behind them pick up bad habits. Myers was one of their top draft picks IIRC. Useless til injured. Even Gadget is finally starting to look past it.
  3. Fair point. Poor year = 8 wins or less Good year = 9-11 wins Great year = Finals
  4. quote BomberBlitz: 'We must apologise to Knighter' they really have lost their marbles, amazing
  5. You'd think they were Melbourne supporters circa 2003
  6. I know what you are saying, but re-negotiate Col's contract before end of season so we know what we are working with. The only contracts that are still up at MFC this year IIRC are Scully and Sylvia's. Sort out Sylvia's first, trying to keep it as low as possible. Trade a couple of players who are surely on decent contracts but aren't long-term players (Bate? Dunn? Warnock), then use all of the cash freed up from those to pump straight into Scully's contract for next year as a one-year bump up. We draft the minimum number of players for 2012, focusing on shortcomings and where our talents lie. This could be a great way to get one of those 17 year olds - trade Bate and Dunn outright to GWS for one of those picks, which we use for JV. JV's wages aren't counted under the salary cap for 2012. I believe this still counts as a player listing? While looking at it outright the deal will seem stupidly in GWS's favour, the freed-up wages allow us to keep TS.
  7. Question for a somewhat different idea: Why can't we give TS a massively frontended contract next year? I know the $700k/year has been bandied about, but to free up cap space in 3-4 years why not massively load his contract for 2012? Draftees get the minimum, we get rid of whoever we get rid of (probably Bate, maybe Dunn) and throw every cent of cash we have into his 2012 season contract then reduce it as much as we can for the later years in order to allow us to renegotiate good deals with our other rising players. So for example, a $2.8mil over 4 years, try to push $1.4m into the 2011 provision then spread the remaining $1.4mil over the 3 years, coming in at around $467k/year for the rest if my very hasty maths are correct? Or even get it to reduce further, so $1.4mil/$600k/$500k/$300k for his contract for the same value? Just a thought.
  8. Martin is a long-term second ruck, while Gawn will be the next first ruck once Rush finishes IMO.
  9. Most of the rest is hurr we can't post cos we'll get carded.
  10. that was worth the read. Fantastic.
  11. He'll be back. And hopefully 10kg heavier.
  12. If Casey have a bye, how close to full-strength are the ressies allowed to be? Can you run half the Casey firsts out there?
  13. Big call on Bartram but probably the right one - if the Push Up was playing he would have, but there's only one real small forward threat in Nahas, and Bennell is better suited to him. Great to see Blease as emergency, he's gotta be knocking on the door.
  14. Quote Sheahan:'Dees are everyone's second team'. Apart from idiot Filth fans I reckon it's pretty spot on.
  15. I was more looking at Trengove in our makeup than worrying about the trade itself. Other clubs will go for him.
  16. Just a note, today's Footy at 4 does talk about the Lynch and Scully stuff. Ralph says he spoke to Lynch and that they had made the decision last July to put off contract talks until November. He goes on to suggest that may mean he is looking at re-signing at top dollar rather than moving.
  17. Warnock and Bate for Trengove? Hrm...he primarily plays as a tall defender and second ruck to Brogan. Tall defenders: Warnock, Frawley, McDonald Second rucks: Martin, Dunn (yeah, I know), Gawn, Spencer As a backup KPD, yeah. But current AFL forward lines mean you don't necessarily NEED a KPD. It's good for when you have to take on a Jonno Brown, but week-to-week he's in one of the worst defences in the comp. Yes, he's quality within that, but is he going to seriously form a part of a MFC premiership backline? Especially when we have Tom McDonald (it's either him or McNamara and I coulda sworn it was him, correct me if I'm wrong) on the way through.
  18. I'm tempted to say no, simply because it would get way too confusing. Hell, my father put a Brownlow bet at 1000/1 on a J Trengove at the start of this year. Turns out it was Jackson. Although the bet is still live...
  19. Tell Jordie to do what he did to Pendlebury to one of them.
  20. Just thought about it - if Rush is back, they're the ones with the matchup problem in the midfield. Jamar will smash their rucks.
  21. Had a massive falling out with Voss as well over some stuff IIRC.
  22. Exception being Michael Rischitelli
  23. The Push Up King is challenging... http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/116814/default.aspx
  24. Jon Ralph. All I'll say on that.
  25. It'll be on AW with Dennis I thought
