  1. That is it dee-luded : chase the ratings and increase the paycheque my daughter who lives in Wales woke me with this news at 7 am - totally tragic that an innocent and unwitting person has made this mistake So sad you can't remedy or rectify after death
  2. Positively Fourth Street Desolation Row Hard Rain's Gonna Fall Like a Rolling Stone Blowin in the Wind It's all over now Baby Blue Knockin on Heaven's Door It ain't me babe Don't see much prospect of Hurricaine getting a guernsey
  3. It is curious that the constant splatter of innuendo has stopped these past 2 weeks - just like a tap being turned off. It would be nice to think it's all case closed but what with all the talk of lawyers one could imagine that a tape measure is being run over it. Proof is required hopefully hence all the dungeon tactics being brought ot bear on MFC staff
  4. Good one Scully being recruited ( for the northeners) as a coup is exceeded only by the success of the Israel Folau experiment
  5. Interesting choice of destination, that
  6. This latest proof of the pudding won't stick
  7. All the way with LBJ, I say ( or should that be George W. ?) Personally, I just can't get enough of Yankee culture Keep up the Gooood Work Andrew !!
  8. I have noticed that in some games some of the teams that are 20 points down with less than four minutes to go seem to my eyes to stop trying. I believe this to be evidence of tanking - and also that the coaching staff are complicit by failing to tell their players to run twice as fast even if there is an increased risk of soft tissue injuries. Just my opinion of course, but the games I'm thinking of had Collingwood in the waning position and they went on to lose all of those.
  9. I admit I've been wrong about C.Wilson Initially I felt she was reporting only what was occurring behind the scenes and finally coming out. The last few days' writing however shows a dedication totally above and beyond the gamut of anything remotely approaching objective reporting and seems to have descended to the level of jihad - totally dedicated to the achievement of a pre-conceived outcome and to hell with any precedent consideration It's interesting to compare and contrast Patrick Smith's approach in The Australian today " Melbourne was not the only club and 2009 not the only year" Wilson writes as if the matter is decided and the only issue where to erect the gallows The Club should be allowed to present it's side of the matter without this sort of interference preventing a fair defense I'm very disappointed in the biased presentation of this matter in the Age Maybe it is time Gina Reinhart took over
  10. It's not a media witch-hunt They've caught up to what the AFL is doing and they're reporting it. It's just wrong and incorrectly targeted is all
  11. Shooting the messenger, folks Funny thing is - we won the game under discussion ( until the unpredictable post-siren kick): so I find it hard to see how the charge is sustainable
  12. Totally agree And just to add to the sense of mystery : Taylor Walker is a better player with a bigger future I reckon
  13. Are all opinions of equal validity and value? There is an ethical/ moral underpinning to politics ( or at least there was Once Upon a Time)) But to be fair in the 60's it was clear who represented the forces of evil ( hint : Murray Wiedeman played for them)
  14. A measured, sincere and insightful comment if ever I read one. He makes a big play of using the term " we" when referring to Australians but I see where you're coming from : the accent is a dead giveaway and the attitudes go with the accent ( as a general rule : fortunately I've met some exceptions although they universally have the wrong idea about football) Keep up the good work , Biffo
  15. In my opinion ........ Neil Crompton For a backman he knew when to kick the occasional important goal
  16. I've seen three and we got smashed in two. Won the other one. It was real real good : I've tried to forget it but can't. Causes a very slow-burning type of addiction.
  17. Can't exactly remember but it was something like this : The MFC chose his brother Greg over Gerard back in the day and Gerard has been dripping poison as subtley as he can without being so naked as to be called on it : others may recall the history better than I can. One thing I will say for him - he's been consistent over the years
  18. Harsh but thought-provoking ..........
  19. Has it not always been so? Try reading John's gospel chapter 19 : an innocent man unjustly sentenced by the screaming of the crowd and its influence on the weak adjudicator. It is the way of the world - it constantly amazes me how few call it for what it is. Not too much has changed in human psychology in these past few thousand years
  20. I have faced enormous ethical dilemmas since two of my three married children have married outside the faith ( the third lives in Wales U.K. so doesn't really count if she barracks for Wales in the rugby) Now I have to say that while I don"t believe in mixed marriages, this is a predicament that arguably calls for the wisdom of Solomon and while not claiming quite that level of achievment I would like to share some life experience perhaps to help others gain some vision of the road over the horizon. The most challenging situation arises when one considers what one should do when negotiating with someone who comes into one's family , does not share or understand the pain and commitment of loyalty to the MFC and who barracks for a team that relatively speaking ( - no pun intended) wins often and easily - in my case Hawthorn x 2 When grandchildren come along : what is one to say? Can or should one demand or recommend allegiance to the Dees to those who share flesh and blood? Well ...... my position is that I have extracted a blood oath from the interpolaters that the progeny are to barrack for whichsoever team is higher on the ladder at the time. Not looking especially flash at the current time, is it? However the greater good may be the avoidance of emotional scarring and a lifetime of pain. but who knows? Perhaps things may change? Stage of grief : Beyond Resignation ( 7.5 )
  21. A person who had just watched " Conspiracy Theory " again might surmise that a delisted player would not be in a position to have one of those infernal Random Drug Tests and maybe his mate who accompanied him but didn't bite the bullet and came clean should be given a clip over the ears. Just saying .....
