Thanks for the heads up Great One and Real Demon. Even if you don't have/get Foxtel, the deal is still probably better than what we have currently. At the moment, we get four games on free-to-air and four on Foxtel (in a typical round, we will exclude the 7 game rounds for this year). Of the four games currently on free-to-air, they are all delayed by at least 30 minutes (I think Sat night on Chan 10 is the closest to live). From next year, you still get your four games in the same time slots (Friday night, sat arvo, sat night, sun arvo) with three being live. Thus, even if you do not get Foxtel, you are still in a better position. And, you know each game is live each week so you can always go to the pub to watch it. However, with Foxtel showing all games live, pubs will be forced to choose between matches that overlap...

Well, I am already planning to get Foxtel next year so I can access all 9 games live (and I know I can watch every Melbourne game live). Smart move by Foxtel, they will have a surge in subscriptions at the start of the 2012 footy season. At least 4 games (Friday night, Sat arvo, Sat night, Sunday arvo) will still be on 7 with 3 of those live (Sat arvo 90 minute delay in Vic). They mentioned that there will be three games Sunday, one at 1.10pm, one at 3.15pm, and one at 4.30pm. How are Foxtel supposed to show all three of these games live? They will need at least two channels if they are indeed live due to the overlap.

He is a strong chance for recall this week against the Swans. Hasn't played a great deal of footy for the Blues, and considering we got Gysberts with the pick, you can certainly say we got the better part of that deal.

LeCras would have to be half done at best. If he does actually play (still not convinced), he won't pose to much threat.

God I had to get drunk at this game to be able to sort of tolerate what I was witnessing.

What happened to Cam's tracky-dacks?
Samsara replied to Red and Blue Bloke's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bruce was very ordinary today. He certainly doesn't look near as good in a team that is developed far more than Melbourne. -
Essendon have improved heaps this year, and Melbourne will have to be at their best to beat them. As for the Magpies, we need to be at our ABSOLUTE best and hope they have an off day to come close. Yes, we matched with them well last year on both occasions, but they are a much better team than us.
-
This is certainly a test for us, and it would mark an improvement in the playing group if they came away with the points.
-
I reckon they will be too good for us over there Thursday night. Over here, and I would be very confident (although, thinking back to last year, and maybe not...)

I noticed on the Footy Show last week, that when talking about players going to GWS (they were grilling Thomas as he was on the panel), Scully didn't even get mentioned. For someone who was apparently 'gone', it was odd that he didn't even get spoken about. Damian Barrett also mentioned that GWS were having a hard time signing any players and that they had conceded that their best option would be to put pressure on clubs to pay big $ now, making it easier at the end of need year.
-
Ha ha, I doubt we'll win four on the trot my friend. In fact, I would be happy with just one in the next 4 to 5 years but I haven't really come to associated this club with success.
-
A good summary of where we are at I reckon. Can't see us being a real force for 2 - 3 years at least, and that is depending on keeping our current list and developing it. One or two players might go through injury/trade/GWS etc but hopefully this is kept to a minimum.

Scully Out for Another ... now ... back to Six Weeks
Samsara replied to Allen Jakovich's topic in Melbourne Demons
Again, I certainly did not conclude anything. Just thought the body was interesting in that one particular moment in time which means absolutely nothing. -

No, I post a view, and then felt a need to elaborate because you seem to do little else but belittle others' opinions. In fact, anybody that has an opinion differing from your own is quickly shut down and ridiculed, even if subtly on most occasions. I like your style though, don't get me wrong. It is clear that the whole Scully saga and 'MFCSS' has rendered your patience quite thin though. -

Since when is observing body language as a means of assessing a situation so funny? Perhaps I didn't articulate myself clearly, as I was merely pointing out that Scully did have some distance between him and the playing group nor was he as jovial as the others. I also pointing out that a single frame can be very misleading, and by all accounts perhaps Natasha Belling had farted which caused Scully to move away and grimace a bit. I am certainly not suggesting he is going to GWS based on this photo. In fact, I think he will stay and have so for a while. -

A picture can be misleading as it only captures a split second of time. However, there is certainly distance between him and the rest of the group and he doesn't seem as happy as Trenners or Watts. Doesn't tell you much though. If you had a 30 second clip you might be able to read into it more. -
SUNDAY STROLL AS DEES HAVE FUN AGAINST THE SUNS
Samsara replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Felt a bit for Watts on Sunday. He was pretty good in his the fourth quarter when he was subbed on. Laid some tackles, took some strong marks, and showed his footy smarts (e.g., his tap to Wona for a goal). He had a shocker kick that resulted in a turnover and goal, which was about the main negative. This seems to reflect his bad lack. Grimes turns if over quite a bit, and it usually doesn't result in a quick rebound goal. Watts does it once, and bang. He also had the ball at the end of the game and looked like he was going to take a few bounces and have a shot from 50. What happens? The second or third bounce doesn't come off and the ball just rolls along the ground. Some people just seem to luck out all the time. Still, although he has had a very underwhelming start to 2011, he has improved quite a bit in his short time and still think he will add a lot to the team. Whether it was a good draft pick remains to be seen, but the fact that he was #1 shouldn't be factored in too much. This was not his choice, but ours. The FD obviously see him as being important in a couple of years. Hindsight is a beatiful thing, but it is still too early to be even looking at things with hindsight. -
We were ordinary in patches and still won by 90 points. Great effort. Dissapointed Watts was sub, he was good in the last quarter.
-
Two threads sounds reasonable. I want to watch the game without knowing the scores so i might avoid the internet until 6pm. I do have some friends coming to watch the game though, and this usually means one of them who will check the scores on the phone :S. Better get my backhand warmed up.

How is possible that a team "should of won by more". Should have/would have/could have are irrelevant really. Melbourne couldwin the premiership this year, but that doesn't mean much if we don't does it?
-
I must admit that despite playing like crap, we at least have the ticker to come back (v Sydney and Brisbane). A few years back, if Melbourne were 5 goals down after the first quarter, it would be all over red rover.
-
Ablett is obviously a massive out and puts more pressure on us to win big.

The 20 to 49 margin is the most popular choice after 108 votes.

Should have taken Dustin Martin -
If this is the case, then he will stay because GWS are struggling to recruit it seems.
