I think he wanted to leave too because he realised his time was limited and that Carlton are much closer to winning a premiership than MFC are. Unfortunately for him, Carlton do continue to improve and will likely be top 4 this year, but he is not part of their plans.

This thread is clearly going nowhere anymore. The same arguments/perspectives are being reiterated ad nauseum.

I'll pay my respects in the sense that they have a crack, but there are certainly passengers in terms of players that don't belong on the train to premiership success. Be it too old, not good enough (or both), but we will see a continued turn over until we have the right list.

I think both Melbourne and Richmond supporters have had enough excuses about the team performing poorly. I will always support this team, like I have during this dreadful patch over the last few years. I have been dissapointed by a few backwards steps this year, but there have been some genuinely positive signs and we are starting to see the product of a list turnover in baby steps. Still need to weed out a few passengers before years end. I said it about a month ago, 2012 is our big year. Must make finals and must improve considerably on field. I will not accept another "development year", even though I realise that a team is constantly developing to some degree. Our development needs to be about becoming better than the other sides, not trying to just be somewhat competetive against them.

I think my post may have been deleted, but I did say I had a suspicion that TS would be dropped this week. If indeed it is truly because of his knee, then he is not worth the gamble in my honest opinion. He has already missed a good proportion of this season due to the knee. If it isn't the knee, then what else would you put it down too?

When did he tweet this? Maybe earlier in year and he was referring to the next few years with Melbourne? I think it would be a HUGE loss if Colin went. In fact, if we lose Scully and Sylvia, this year will be a disaster.

Not uncommon for people to prepare themselves for disappointment, even if unconsciously. That said, it is also a possibility that information about Scully potentially leaving is deliberately leaked to prepare supporters for such an event. If he just upped and left at seasons end without any prior knowledge, it would create an uproar. Having it play out over the entire season will quell the flames somewhat if it should happen. All hypotheticals of course, as is the gold standard in this thread. I still think he will be in red and blue next year.

Tom Harley was pretty smug about Scully going to GWS next year on Game Day this morning. I don't know what he has to do with GWS, but when asked about it he just said "oh, we've signed him already have we" with a dumb grin on his face.

Don't worry about other results. When we are good enough, we will make finals regardless. Not there yet. We haven't had one big scalp this year, so don't deserve to play finals in my opinion.
