Given the lack of press this week from the club it may suggest the club is not especially happy about his work to date. maybe?

You do realise he's probably been contemplating this issue most of his life?

“It is often tragic to see how blatantly a man bungles his own life and the lives of others yet remains totally incapable of seeing how much the whole tragedy originates in himself, and how he continually feeds it and keeps it going. Not consciously, of course—for consciously he is engaged in bewailing and cursing a faithless world that recedes further and further into the distance. Rather, it is an unconscious factor which spins the illusions that veil his world. And what is being spun is a cocoon, which in the end will completely envelop him.” Carl Jung

You asked the wrong question, the quality of the film Utopia is irrelevant, the issue is Adam Goodes right to express views that many would prefer continued to go unspoken about our long and shameful treatment of indigenous Australians since the colonial invasion of their country. I don't care about Utopia, haven't seen it. But then again neither have you. have you?

Is Salem ready to swap into the midfield? Grimes can't make the midfield switch, or does Heritier just need more time to transition into being a mid?

Goodes is an aboriginal man with his own life history, emotions and a right to express them how he chooses. That so many choose to take deep offence at him expressing his feelings when seeing that movie, says for more about those choosing to take offence, than it does about Goodes.

Your projections are deceiving you.

Australian of the Year Champion Sydney footballer I am an urban Aboriginal man; I wasn't brought up into my culture, I don't have my language, nor my kinship system to live by. My mum was part of the stolen generations and, because of this, my mum and her three boys never learnt what it meant to be Aboriginal. Utopia has shown me how, over 225 years, the Europeans, and now the governments that run our country, have raped, killed and stolen from my people for their own benefit. The total injustices that have been played out since colonisation are absolutely shameful, and I now find it hard to say I am proud to be Australian. Australia has a very black past; Utopia shows real-life stories of what has happened over the past 225 years. I cried like I had lost a family member on three occasions watching this film - a must-see for all Australians.

Given we're playing the Pies this week, thought it would be worth having a look at how the Prince has settled in... Looking at his stats it looks ok, with Frees Against high. He's had his moments, such as the intercept goal after Toumpas had a brain fade, but to be honest, I've been a little bit disappointed with what feels like a series of cameo performances rather than any full blooded four quarter efforts. I'd expected him to gain more meters and penetrate more. Hope he is fired up for the game against his old mob, noted Buckly say "he'd been good earlier in the year" and he did have a good preseason.

I think Roos is elegantly adjusting to prime his team and players for those games he believes we are most likely to be able to win given where we are at. Resting Hogan Vs Hawks so primed for Doggies. Resting Tyson for Port so ready for Pies. The session with Danners prior to Doggies Etc... The language he uses, and has Jones use, all aimed at raising the stakes before games in which a higher output might produce a win...

Last year was weird, we finished in 17th spot, with the four wins coming... Round 4 Vs Carlton - won by 23 points - Carlton finished 13th Round 7 Vs Adelaide - won by 3 points - Adelaide finished 10th Round 9 Vs Richmond - won by 17 points - Richmond finished 8th Round 13 Vs Essendon - won by 1 points - Essendon finished 7th Don't know what to make of it. I suspect in the last 10 rounds when we played for example Freo, Geelong, Port in rounds 16,17,18 then played Brissie at Etihad in Round 19 we were so demoralised we failed to beat them. This year, as evidenced by the bounce back vs Doggies, we may have remedied this, and be able to beat those we should.
-
I took a fair bit out of how we bounced back to beat the Doggies after the horror run prior to that game. And that when we get out tails up we are getting better at putting teams away (our winning margins are increasing). Not to avoid the issues of capitulating against power teams, but things are improving as well. Big test this week.

Last year we had our "tough patch" vs top 8 teams on the run home.
-
I agree the effort has been patchy and sub standard. But our wins have been solid against team that are our equals in the bottom half of the ladder, i.e. Melb - 115 - Defeated - Suns - 89 by 26 points Melb - 83 - Defeated - Tigers - 51 by 32 points Melb - 103 - Defeated - Doggies - 64 by 39 points

Hard to get a good read on where we are at as 7 of our 9 games thus far have been against teams placed 9th on the ladder or higher. This week with the Pies we shall have played all but one (Weagles) of the current top 9, with Port (11th) and Suns (17th) the other two games. In the up coming 13 rounds we play 8 games agains teams outside the top 8. If we've actually improved it will be over this period that it should become obvious.

We turn our form around substantially every week...

Jones summed up where we're at today with "Our best footy is really good, and I reckon we've showed that in games and in patches of games," Jones said on Wednesday. "But the difference between our best and worst is still too great." Unlike last year we actually have a "best footy"! ...and it's been good enough to have use beat most of the other bottom 8 teams we've played in Doggies, Tigers and Suns. Unfortunately we also have a big gap between our best and worst which is exposed when quality tems (i.e. top 4) play us. I think we are on track to be top of the bottom 8 which is a big improvement and puts us on target to further consolidate and close the best - worst gap in 2016.
-
Its just the big loss cycle, we win against the Pies and everyone will be applauding Roos as the new Saviour again... We've had a tough draw and been beaten well by last years final four whom we've had the misfortune to play in the past month and a bit... I reckon we are at a better win-loss then most would have predicted, given: our other two losses were against GWS and Adelaide, both in the top 8 and we've beaten two teams (Doggies and Tigers) placed above us, and played only one team below us (GC) Would love it to be better, but it's better than last year... and the year before that... and the year before that.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
PaulRB replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Its interesting as none of those players would be in most supporter's "top 22 MFC players". So our actual problem is that our current "top 22 player" list is still sub-par, and I'd far prefer to focus on and replace those sub-par "top 22 players", than focus on players outside our top 22 who'll most likely be playing for Casey if we were injury free. To name several sub-par "top 22 players" (on current form) - Dawes, Howe, Jamar, Watts. -
Eddie McGuire: Paul Roos "obvious choice" to fix Carlton

I don't follow Eddie, what did he say? Hope he didn't call him King Kong again... BTW I did actually agree with Ted's evaluation of Eddie. -
Eddie McGuire: Paul Roos "obvious choice" to fix Carlton

Of course he's that too! But his mindless mutterings will draw an extra two or twenty to the game on Monday and we're getting the gate. I say rave on Eddie!
