  1. Anyone know why there aren't flights between Uluru and Alice Springs any more. I'm sure I took one about 6 or 7 years ago.
  2. We're really going to miss Kozzy but I'm loving the decision to blood the Kolt. That's 3 debutants in 6 games. Very unlike Goody with the exception perhaps of 2020 with Jacko, Kozzy and Rivers. Reckon Lachie Neale has a dodgy ankle. They'll play him and he'll get a heap of the ball but that ankle could buckle at any time.

    Um

Absolutely disagree. Perhaps millenials and gen z need all their info in short sharp tik toks. I really like the long form conversations and detailed analysis with the use of stats. I also love the questions and comments from Demonlanders which provide other viewpoints from the audience and Demonlanders. I have zero issues with the length and you can fast forward bits if your attention span can't handle it. The guys put in a lot of work and there is no issues from me in thanking people that take the time to post a review. @Demonland @george_on_the_outer & @binman don't listen to a couple of sour pusses. I love all the content and the length of the show is fantastic. I consume the show in bits and pieces if I have to to make it last. I crave Dees content and you guys provide it in spades. Thank you ums and all.

    Um

lol at the censor filter that made my post seem more aggressive than it was intended but considering the mean spirit of the OP which could have been a PM or here's a thought just keep your [censored] opinions to yourself.

    Um

What a miserable [censored] you are.
  6. I'll see you and raise you this one. Surprising because he's usually a very photogenic lad.
  7. Clarry had a relatively quiet game but was involved in some crucial contests in the last. Perhaps his hand injury is hampering him. Viney was sick during the week and he too had a relatively quiet game. But how good was our big bull Petracca. He's having a ripper season. I have a cheeky pineapple on his for the Brownlow. Sparrow was solid too after a quiet start to the season.
  8. Absolutely huge win on the road at Feral Park. Lost my voice watching from home which I rarely do when not at the game.
  9. 6. Neal-Bullen 5. Gawn 4. Oliver 3. Viney 2. Brown 1. Rivers
  10. Just following up from my comment last week and checking to see if there are still any Nibbler Knockers about? Another excellent game. 3 votes for mine.
  11. If fit Maysie is a certainty to come in but who goes out? Woey jnr? Hore as the sub?
  12. All the Nibbler Knockers need to take a good hard look at themselves. He was excellent today. That is all.
  13. Media are so lazy they would just look at the stats sheet which is why umpires should never be allowed to look at a stats sheet before casting votes.
  14. 6. Petracca 5. Fritsch 4. ANB 3. Gawn 2. Langdon 1. Pickett
  15. There is a thread on Demonland about the crowd numbers for our match against the Bulldogs and the media pile on. I'll leave it up to you whether you want to read the post by @Katrina Dee Fan but she makes some interesting points. I thought the Dees were well represented on the day and it was the Bulldog fans who stayed away. Had we been playing another Victorian team (one of the other big 5 or 6) we may have got 70 to 80,000. The empty AFL members doesn't help the optics for anyone just casually watching on TV or seeing highlights. The MCC was well attended.
  16. Interesting Centre Bounce Attendance stats that Andy posted in the Post Game Thread. I was really impressed with Salem's poise and polish in the middle and was pleasantly surprised that he attended the most Centre Bounces for the Dees with 22. Viney 20, Tracc 17, Sparrow 10 and Kozzy 9. 17. Get Clarry and Salo in the team vs the Blues. Brayshaw also in if he is over his illness. Of the other injured players I'm not sure any are match ready given their injuries.
  18. Welcome back fellas. What did you make of our execution today? I thought our disposal was atrocious. Did you notice anything different with our transition of the ball out of defence and also with our delivery inside 50?
  19. Gonna be interesting to see how Yze deals with our midfield as he would have an intimate knowledge of how we tick. Will also be interesting to see any new tricks we have learned from McQualter and how he handles the Tigers midfield as he has very first hand experience with. I know it's only a practice match but I'm jumping out of my skin.
  20. I'll echo some others on here in thanking Andy, Binman and George for a great season for the podcast. Thanks for giving the listeners the chance to ask questions and contribute to the podcast. The interaction with the audience makes the podcast a really great companion piece to the Demonland website and community. For my question - In the preseason at training and in the practice matches and then into the early season proper we saw a shift in the way the Dees moved the ball from defence and into attack. We saw the team take more risks in moving the ball through the middle as opposed to the around the wings/down the line strategy that worked well in the Premiership year but was perhaps becoming predictable. We also saw our kickout strategy change a little and rather than always kicking out to Max on the half back line we were first kicking short to a Hibberd or Salem and then going long or every now and again we'd telegraph a long kick into the guts. As the year wore on though we stopped doing any of those new strategies and reverted back to the good old down the line and to a lead into the pocket. Two questions; why did we revert back to that strategy and what changes do you think we need to do in regards to a strategy in 2024 in order to maintain success?
  21. I know we're not supposed to talk about the Collingwood game this week but surely we can take a moment to talk about the scheduling of the match on the Thursday night. I realise that the match has been scheduled for the Thursday night so that whichever one of the Dees or Pies loses on the Thursday they will play Friday nights winner on the Friday night and therefore give the higher ranked Pies/Dees (hopefully Pies) the extra day break over the Blues/Swans (hopefully Swans) for a matchup on the following Friday night. However, Thursday night is a horrible night for access to the footy for those like me that live in the country and for the kids who have school the next day. The AFL and their broadcast partners strike again.
  22. There's a thread on Demonland discussing whether Kozzy stands up in big games on the MCG. From Demonland Poster Skuit's post on the subject he says "I understand goals aren’t the only metric, and know forward-pocket is one of the hardest positions to play. Some of the statistics are actually quite damning though. An admittedly small sample size (and my stats may be dodgy here and there), but: Pickett has kicked three goals or more 16 times in his 81-game AFL career. Only four of those bags occurred at the MCG, two of them back-to-back in a hot streak in 2022. Pickett has kicked four or more goals four times in his career: three of those occasions being in Alice, the ACT and Tasmania. Pickett’s average, including his first season, is somewhere around the 1.5 goals per/game mark. Meanwhile, against the three biggest clubs in the country who we have key match-ups with – Collingwood, Richmond and Essendon – Pickett has kicked a grand total of nine goals from 13 games. I don't think he has ever kicked more than two when the crowd reached the 70,000-mark First question is, is there an issue, or just a statistical anomaly based on a small sample? Second question: if there is an issue, what can we do to fix it? And third: is there something about the MCG which delimits Kozzie’s input perhaps?" So that was Skuit's post and my question is very similar to Skuits. I absolutely adore Kozzy. He can be exciting and electric and is a huge draw for the club in terms of marketing but his consistency is a big drawback in his game. He goes missing in matches and just plonking him into the middle at the start of quarters as a shock troop only provides a momentary spark. His greatest strength is his speed and agility which make him an ideal candidate for more midfield minutes with his excellent ability to evade opposition and use his skill to break through defences and create scoring opportunities.
  23. Given that the Hawks are placed in 16th position on the ladder they have not been on my radar all year and I have not watched a minute of any of their matches with the exception of their game against the Demons earlier in the season. In the past few weeks they have piqued my interest as they took dismantled the Pies and put a dent in the Dogs finals aspirations. This is a team that worries me greatly. They have likely sewn up 16th place and therefore will not lose the prized 3rd pick in the draft and therefore are probably playing like they've got nothing to lose. Well that's the sense I get from not having watched a minute of them playing in the past few weeks but you get the gist. So why am I so nervous to play against a team like this. Help put my fears to bed. What do we need to do to defeat these Kingslayers and who do I have to worry about?
