  1. Would he prefer to stay at Geelong and end his days as a one club player? Leaving as a FA would perhaps dilute his legacy down in Sleepy Hollow. Some players are not concerned with this. To others this is important, especially if they have played during a great flag era.

If he was available to us, I guess we'd have to weigh up what he would provide (and cost) in only one or two years, as opposed to a 25/26/27 year old high level player who might be with us for 4-5 yrs, into a so-called premiership window.

These sorts of issues are going to be more and more important in the next few years as FAs and RFAs come into the picture.

What do other think about FAs vs RFAs?

  2. As for the 'I know nothing about football comment', its not appreciated and if you havent realised that I am

the most astute football judge on this site - bar none - then your really going to struggle going forward, much like Moloney.

All the best son and keep your chin up.

Didn't know I was your 'son', old man.

It's pretty hard to reason with someone who uses the justification above to prove their case.

If you argue with fools, you end up looking like one.

Over and out on this thread.

  3. I hope we get rid of Moloney, he has had an ordinary year, even McKenzie has surpassed him!

Moloney is not only a one dimensional, limited midfielder, but he is also just a midfielder and cant really play elsewhere,

at least Grimes, Tapscott can play different roles, also McKenzie plays his role as a tagger, Jones an extractor and dominator,

Moloney is just a limited player and without his size, he adds next to nothing.

    ]

    Just a midfielder???

Do you know anything about footy?

It's commonly accepted that the midfield is where matches are won.

All the names you mentioned, except for Jones, are only battlers based upon this year's effort. Sad but true. And you could add a number of others to that list, such as Trengove, Davey, Bail, Green and Petterd. Based upon this year, that is.

Moloney is struggling for form, but let's not throw the baby out with the bath water.

  4. I would think only one of them (Spencer). It is good to have a few compitent big men and taking Grundy now would

mean in 2-3 years when Jamar is getting older he will be mature enough to take over the number one ruck roll

or sharing it with Gawn. That would be a dominate combo a bit like Cox and Natainui is now.

Yeah, I think you might be right. But I wouldn't be surprised if Martin is offered around for a trade at years end, as i believe he is worth more game time than we are giving him, and ruckmen with a few years under their belt are worth a bit.

  5. I've heard a lot of people on here not wanting us to get Grundy but I would love for him to slip to us. Highly talented

big men are hard to find and with pick 4,12 and Viney(fingers crossed) for midfielders we would have a very formidable centre line.

If we picked him up, we would probably look to have some/all of Gawn, Martin and Spencer move on

  6. This is getting ridiculous.

So the reining B&F winner, experienced, big bodied, good leader, still relatively young, should be let go of because he has been badly out of form this year? And us anonymous hacks somehow know better than the FD!

And I thought only Tigers supporters ate their own!

  7. I gave up tuning in to his crap.

No point trying to counter his views as he simply doesn't care to listen to what others say. And will never apologise or acknowledge when he has been proven wrong.

    You know the saying...

If you argue with fools for too long, you begin to look like one.

  8. The fact is that we've been shocking since Morton went out of the team. Perhaps that's a coincidence, but the run and (believe it or not) good footskills he provides has been sorely lacking this past few weeks. .

Well, now I've heard it all.

Morton has good foot skills and run? And we are somehow vastly better than shocking with him in the team?

Let's get that gazelle-like champion back in the seniors!

We need his laser left foot passes to the opposition so that we can turn over more goals!

  9. i would have thought that both Rivers and Green have shown they are not one dimentional players

Green has played just about every position on the field in his career at melbourne apart from the ruck and full back, and as we have seen this season Rivers is holding his own down forward

Rivers kicked 4 against GWS and that's just about it as far as forward highlights go (unless you are including some shocking set shots)

Garland has been more of success in the forward line this year.

Time for Riv to go back again.

And this year Green has been NO dimentional at AFL level. But, of course, he stars at VFL level.

  10. if Melbourne traded there first pick, I am sure that one cannot be outbided on the priority pick. Therefore we could get an experienced player and pick viney up later.

    ???? Priority or F/S???

Father/son deals are sorted out BEFORE the trade period. This has been covered at length in every JV related thread here.

  11. What, precisely, is his value to Melbourne?

A lot less than it was 12 mths ago, which makes the next contract negotiation difficult for the Club and him. He would be wanting a good deal based upon perceived potential, not upon current form.

  12. I've had a gut feel all year that Brent Moloney is just going through the motions.

Doesn't seem happy, hasn't been playing well, hasn't signed yet, declaring his wanting to stay

    Iike Jamar.

Hasn't been doing his boxing camp, and isn't twittering much anymore.

Reckon we will trade him to the Bombers.

Maybe your gut feel was the vindaloo you had last night.

I would like him to stay.

  13. A potential 'draw-card' (if he's not one already) and definitely a 'must sign'. Give him good money (front ended) but for 3 years max imo ............ and hope like hell that he doesn't come back to earth too awkwardly after one of his speccies.

    Like Mitch did.
