  1. One of the reasons Daisy has developed so well and is now a star is that he has had several A-grade midfielders around him to share the load, Pendles, Swann and, to some extent, Ball, Beams, Sidebottom and Wellingham. This has given him space to use his freakish abilities and play his natural game. Given that Viney and Toumpas are arguably about 3 years from hitting their straps, would he be as good at MFC where we really only have Jones to support him?
  2. Hope a three year deal is being negotiated. Pay him what he's worth. Could be incentive based, as a previous poster mentioned. Next 3 yrs will see him become one of our top 3 players, IMO. He'll get stronger and bigger, and with that, he'll get greater confidence to go harder at it when required. Isn't he only 22?
  3. I guess it's also the quickest way to concede a goal when turning it over, which we have become famous for over the last few years. So we have to get the ball to our forwards if we are to get enough goals to win, but if we go the corridor and turn over, we're in trouble. As our disposal skills improve over he next two years (please god, they have to), Neeld may well direct us to go the corridor if a good opportunity presents.
  4. Left or right, I love a good gherkin. Pickled gherkins, gherkin dip, gherkin relish. Yum. Isn't that what you guys are talking about?
  5. Stef Martin having a shocker tonight. Looks almost like he's playing for Carlton.
  6. BH your arrogance and self importance typifies the stereotype other supporters have of us. You are assuming an insinuation where there is none. As I said, I want Lloyd to show balence in his commentary, by spending more time on other clubs, such as his own. That is all. Try reading what posters write, as opposed to how you want to read it. But as I said, it's all about you. I think any reasonable supporter would understand that Dawes' value is far more than the number of goals he kicks. It is simplistic to think otherwise and illustrates a lack of understanding of the modern game. Feel free to reply, because you always do ad nauseum. I do not need to reply anymore to you on this, big man.
  7. Mate, you are ridiculous. You put words in other people's mouths to justify your own views. Did I say Lloyd could not discuss us? He clearly likes to have a go at us, but conveniently is close to silent on the Bombers fiasco. He should show more balance. If we win and Dawes regularly kicks only one or two goals, but directly contributes four more, would you still be disappointed? It's a team game. But I guess it's all about you. Only a closed mind is certain, BH.
  8. I'd honestly like to see Maloney and Stef Martin do well at the Lions. I very much liked watching them when they were on-song with us. Admittedly that wasn't all that often across their time here. Cale Moreton, not so much.
  9. Ho hum...... the season is yet to start and already we are singling out players for supporter whipping. I'd rather we asked the whole friggin team to lift to another level. Or is the AFL nine to a side now?
  10. Got to disagree with you 316. Cloke is a faaaaaar better player than JR. JR is usually well held by Chip when we play the toiges. Cloke, not so much. I know there is more to it than a one-on-one player comparison, but that sums it up in this case.
  11. Lloyd should focus on his own team's circus of events. I'm not in the camp that says Dawes must kick X number of goals this year. If he can help create a good number of goals each week, that will do for me. I don't care who kicks them, as long as Dawes, Mitch, Howe, etc contribute enough to make it happen. Given that a third of our list is new, it will take some time for them to gel and for this to happen.
  12. I also thought he made very poignant comments about high draft picks once they are at the club: "Neeld reasons that when clubs become seduced by the draft pick attached to a player's name, it can only lead to trouble. "When the list management group sits down to go through our list, we put the players' name on the board, a summary of his performances, the results of his endurance and strength tests, a welfare report, and nowhere in all of that is the number he was drafted," Neeld says. "If we decide this player is at his ceiling and there is nowhere for him to go, where he was drafted is absolutely irrelevant." And also about the salary cap and how much new recruits get paid: Neeld is a very straight talker.
  13. I'm not sure it is really possible yet to say that JG is best suited to one particular position, or to say that he is an poor, average or good player. This is based simply on the fact he has not yet had a decent stretch of games injury free in which we could possibly give a valid case one way or the other. By decent stretch, I mean at least 2 seasons with a couple of uninterrupted preseasons. Neeld rates him highly and his team mates wanted him as captain, to me that's the best indication so far of his value. I'm looking forward to watching him become a very good player (injury free) over the next 2-3 years
  14. Geeze, with Stuie going all mushie and on the prowl, and Rangey back with manners and reason, one might think that the heavy hand of management has straightened the joint out. Or is it just the hot weather frying a few brains?
  15. With Davey perhaps in his last year, Rioli would be a great mentor to Barry. Can't see Hawks releasing him, though.
  16. Love the optimism Wayne, but if any more than three of those make next years list, I'll have a heart attack from the shock.
  17. God I hope so. I look ahead towards the inclusion of Hogan (with a year at Casey under his belt), another couple of quality midfield first rounders, maybe a good trade or two and a surprise late pick. Then I think of our list without Davey (as good as he has been during his career), without a couple of others who perhaps fail to rise. With 1 or 2 more Misso preseasons I can honestly see us challenging for top 4 from 2015. From there it is possible.
  18. **takes fishing rod out and attaches hook to line** Hmmm, what bait will I use? I know, how about... JACK WATTS IS THE PERFECT KPF AND HIS IMMENSE TALENTS ARE WASTED DOWN BACK!!! **waits for Ben and Stuie to bite**
  19. Long way from full strength, P_Man. They didn't have Goddard playing today
  20. Even though he bagged 5 last game, I much prefer Sellar as a back, where he can run at the ball and dish off or deliver fwd. I don't rate him as being creative enough to play as a KPF.
  21. Just don't mention 186.
  22. Jamar, Pencil and Gawn. Three into two does not go, or perhaps three into one. Once all are fit and ready, who gets the main gig? None have set the world on fire for quite some time.
  23. Could not get two more different personalities...
  24. Yeah, the Jones omission shows how bad the ranking system is. I'll have mine roasted, thanks BBO
