  1. Just recieved a signed card for my kid from HL as well as a mascot toy and fridge magnet. Very well recieved. Good gesture by the club after Monday's training events. I'll buy a child membership and some more merchandise to reinforce the support. We like the excitement of doing this in person rather than online. Thanks Jane at MFC, much appreciated.
  2. Agree ET, and re-signing players now will assist the smooth transition. They are getting a good look at Goodwin and how he operates as a coach. Players re committing into his tenure as senior coach is a good sign IMO.
  3. Like a lot. Great confidence from the club and from him to the club.
  4. Hoping Fitzy trains well and gets a shot at it on the weekend.

  6. No, you've obviously got that market cornered, unintentionally.
  7. I'll drink to that!
  8. With BBO going, the crowd should push up to 12,000. Heard a rumour he is the pre game entertainment, something to do with paysties and a dwarf.
  9. Soooooooo..... We can't organise a permit to sell things at Gosch's but the Demon Army can get its act together (well, sort of) to sell snags and a coffee cart can sell drinks??? Given that it was heavily promoted as a special Labour Day training session, with food and drinks, blind Freddie could see that membership and merch sales would have been a good idea, especially given the email came from MFC Membership. Fancy promoting the event to supporters and then underestimating the crowd and the potential for sales! I was there willing to spend good money, many families I spoke to said the same. Low hanging fruit without a doubt. If in fact $1000 was the cost to set up, then we made a mistake. Not to mention all the supporter good will that would have been generated, particularly amongst young fans, the future of our club. Last post on the topic for me. I'll leave the apologist to keep at it.
  10. Anyone who thinks we would have not covered $1000 on Monday through sales or that signage at the ground wouldn't create income for the club needs to take some viagra eye drops and have a good hard look at themselves.
  11. So Collingwood got it wrong and we are getting it right? I guess that's why they struggle to make much from sponsorships. Yeah, nah....
  12. I normally skim past your posts Saty but had to correct you on this. I understand you take this club criticism personally chap, but try not to speak on behalf of the club. You miss the point, so I'll type it slowly. The club would have made far more from the day than what it cost to get a permit and fund $1000 for a membership/merchandise tent. I would have easily covered about a quarter of that with a new kid's membership and merch sales. Judging by other parents spoken to, I was clearly not alone. My young one was disheartened, but if the desire is still there of course I'll buy a first membership. The lack of vision and poor communication within the club cost it financially and more importantly in terms of goodwill. It's ameteur, not professional, definitely not a good commercial decision and does little to esteeme the club to young supporters. New, young supporters are the future of our club, not you, not me. MFC can definitely put funds into the FD and engage with young supporters at the same time. Time to stop making excuses.
  13. I do not agree. As the promo email was from the MFC membership email, I optimistically went thinking I'd buy my young child a first membership and maybe get a photo or two. Assuming it's still wanted, I'll still buy one. Would have bought merchandise too, which I think is often bought spur of the moment. $1000 is nothing to set up a tent, and the permit just requires a bit of foresight. They would have easily made more than their outlay yesterday. Easily. Not to mention the good will generated towards young fans, which is exactly what the club needs long term.
  14. Got a reply from Jane McGough, manager of consumer business. Said the reason for the 1 hour shift was purely a mix up of times between the communications staff and the FD about when they would be out on the park. She offered an unreserved apology. As long as they learn, I'm happy to leave it at that.
  15. Emailed my disappointment to the club. Tried to be constructive. I don't mind not getting a reply as long as they take the feedback onboard. Strange why it was moved 1 hour, little enough time to have kept it at 12.00 I would have thought, but just long enough to annoy fans.
  16. Dare I say a catholic schoolboy......
  17. Agree bub, absolutely. I was there and left about 1.20. Too hard to keep my young one interested, wanted to sign up for kid membership. As the promo email was from MFC membership I thought there would be a membership/merchandise tent. Would easily have spent $200+. Oh well, it will have to be another day.
  18. Deefella, one poster on page 3 after more than 50 posts said the club can kiss 35,000 by round 1. Big deal. Hardly being "precious and overreacting something shocking". I couldn't find anyone who said their kids wouldn't follow the Dees because the players were late. Me thinks you are the overreactor.
  19. There's something ironic about claiming others are overreacting something shocking and need to get a grip whilst writing a response like that. You must have used about 50 exclamation marks deefella, not to mention shouting in capitals. No one has said the club will not get to 35,000 or that kids won't support the Dees simply because the players were running late. However, I agree with you on one point: a better brand of football and more wins will do wonders for membership numbers.
  20. Given that I went today and left disappointed just after 1pm with my young child, I'd have to say that your post is perhaps the stupidest thing I've read on Demonland. I've been a club member for nearly 20 years and my kid has just started taking an interest in footy. I'd hoped to sign up the young one as a member and maybe get a photo or two with the players. Unfortunately we will be away when the Luna Park family day is on. The praccy game at Casey the other week was too far for us to travel, and there was no membership tent there, so it proved to be moot, as it was today. MFC has missed another opportunity to sign up a young fan and gain considerable merchandise sales. Will do my best to keep it in the family, but after today's effort, I'm not sure and definitely not impressed. The club will get an email from me. I care rhaz and I will remember this for a lot longer than a week.
  21. What a wonderful, intelligent speech. Great footy brain. Certainly had the young player's attention . So glad we have him at the club. Thanks for re posting 39, much appreciated.
  22. His dad started Joe's Garage in Brunswick St for a bit of trivia.
  23. Which float were you on Uncle Bitter?
