Good summation. I went to several pre Xmas training sessions and initially didn't recognise him, such is the size he's put on. His acceleration and speed are excellent. He looked to have clean hands, but I noted his kicking a little wayward, particularly under pressure. This obviously can be worked on, he is still young. I liked what I saw of him and that the coaches were encouraging him to take the game on and run. Really look forward to seeing what he does at senior level this year.

The more he talks, the more Hird is trashing his legacy. A friend of mine who works as a writer and researcher in sports media, including footy, told me his view on the outcome of Essendon's doping saga was "nothing's changed". Meaning that the people at the top who should be banned and heavily fined have got off scott free, in most cases with substantial financial gain (eg. Hird $1 mill + paid o/s study when under AFL ban) or having moved on in their field of business (Robson, Evans, Bomber, etc) without penalty. He wasn't dismissing the guilt of the players, but pointed out they are the most vulnerable party in this debacle and are the ones being penalised. Even Dank can move on and make some money from the public speaking circuit.

Clubs will need to be very careful about following WADA rules on banned players involvement with the clubs. I wonder who will be the first to stuff up and get caught? Given how inept and naive the saga continues to be, I don't have much confidence that all clubs with the '34 players' will follow to the letter. I just hope ours is not one of them.

Think you are right, but there is history of highest vote getters not winning it and the next place getter receiving the award, albeit in differing circumstances
