  1. What bait? Seriously this is ridiculous.

I thought a young player with a giant leap might be given a nickname that suits. IMO Flighty is the perfect nickname for Jackson. We regularly apply nicknames to players that aren't necessarily the ones they get called by team mates. Many on here have profile names that illustrate this point, such as Lord Nev, DazzleDavey, petraccattack, etc

Lets move on, stop misreading the tea leaves and get some rumours happening!

Is someone suggesting that something that someone else said in the “rumour only file” didn’t come to fruition? I can’t believe it.

I've heard a rumour that Max is shavings his beard for good, Oliver will be sporting a comb over and Trump orange tan from now on, Spargo has grown 15cm, and Steven May has changed his name to Steven Will

    You can believe it, Nasher!

6 days since it was "rumoured" that LJ was a long way off re-signing...

A lot can happen in 6 days, Chazz. Especially for flighty players!!!!

A 1 year extension is better than 0 years. I'll take that.

Nick Riewoldt also spent most of his final season dominating games from a wing, and that was 2017. Obviously Tmac is nowhere near those guys in terms of ability, but the precedent is definitely there. There's absolutely no reason why a tall, marking endurance beast shouldn't be effective on a wing in modern footy.

The problem is that the same issues that affect him up forward won't magically disappear on the wing. He won't get any faster or hold marks better just because he's in a different part of the ground.

That said, if he can get his body right, it's definitely something that would be worth exploring IMO. He won't get a look in up forward unless Weideman or Brown get injured, and he's probably behind Jackson as well. There's not a lot to lose from trying.

WAS a marking endurance beast. He has two dodgy ankles as well. Tmac is a tall leading forward at $600k pa, or nothing at all, unfortunately. Now 4th in line as a tall forward. But hope springs eternal, eh!

I’d happily experiment with him as a tall wingman a la what Richmond regularly did with Richo. Big blokes with elite endurance levels running up and down the wing make a fantastic switch option.
yes his field kicking is sometimes questionable but gee wiz it should open up channels into the forward line if he keeps his width on the ground.

I know you are not comparing Richo with Tmac (because that is a stretch way too far), but you do realise Richo last played wing about 12 years ago, an eternity in modern day football?

Thinking a bit more about how Bulldogs can maximise value of pick 14.

There is little value swapping it for later 2020 picks as either way the points get swallowed up by their NGA player.

They will get more value if they trade it out for some combo of player/2020 later picks/future picks.

So I doubt they will simply swamp it for 2020 picks.

Shame we couldn't have worked the Hannah deal into it, assuming the Bullies pick was the target. Says to me we might be going for a higher pick than 14

Edit. Wonder if the club tried to work Preuss + picks for #10? I hope we are not trading our 2021 1st rounder

    I don't think so.

I can't recall if his name was raised on here by an 'informed' poster or a wishful thinking poster.

Probably wishful thinking. But that being the case, they'd surely be better going for a pick swap live on trade night. If McCrae goes earlier in the draft than anticipated, they might be better off keeping the two (?) picks for players Taylor likes in the 20's. They'd have a plan B for sure.

Or perhaps the rule is no pick swaps to avoid academy bids on draft night??? I don't know

Using Harmes as run-with and drift forward is consistent with Pert's comments that coaches need to maximise the strengths and attributes of our existing players.  My translation:  stop playing them out of position.

I'm not surprised about the culture of 'different rules for 'different players'.  I've heard this several times from outside sources in recent years.  And it was something fairly obvious to many DL's especially when it came to team selections.

Yes, however its worth noting that quite often players are played out of their accustomed position and succeed. Eg, Tmac as a forward, wasn't May drafted as a forward, and even the great David Neitz. But I think it's fair to say Harmes would benefit from a return to a midfield run with role

Updated info for those interested :) if not please ignore.

    1. A few clubs have come knocking about Angus Brayshaw again, nothing doing at this stage, but watch this space. they've also asked about Christian Salem and been told a flat no.
    2. there will be a few players in brand new roles in 2020, one in particular is James harmes who will have a role imv much more suited to him
    3. I still believe Tom McDonald will end up at Essendon for 2021 as a key defender.
    4. several clubs in addition to those reported are interested in Neville Jetta.
    5. as mentioned by others there are several mature age players that are being shopped around to other clubs, there is a clearing of the decks going on.
    6. Brayden Ham is a player of interest for us and has been for a while
    7. Nathan Jones has been told there is a real possibility he won't play a game in 2021. he's essentially been retained as an assistant coach, and to also provide some depth in case of an injury. my information is he won't play unless required to play as a midfielder.

Good rumours Dr evil. Keep them coming. Most of us appreciate them
