WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Good Times Grimes replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not sure I'd say that's a reliable source, even though I'd like to believe it's true. Side note: God I hope we don't trade a first rounder for Dawes. -
Is your support of the MFC unconditional ?
Good Times Grimes replied to Hannibal's topic in Melbourne Demons
It better be a rumour. I'd rather wait a few years and build a side that will compete for premierships than have a quick-fix that will see us MAYBE scrape into the eight only to have our @sses kicked in an elimination final. -

Pick 4 should be moved ONLY for an elite player or a MD pick. Anything else and I will seriously question the direction we are heading. -

If we trade Pick 4 for Dawes I think I will give up on this club altogether. -
While I agree that Port Adelaide have produced better on-field performances than us in the past decade, the off-field issues that they are experiencing at the moment are much worse than ours. We currently have a stable (and most would say competent) board and we are financially sound. On the other hand, Port are struggling to find someone who wants to coach them as their "candidates" are dropping out faster than they can find new ones. Their rivals, Adelaide, are on the rise and I think it is highly likely that Port will lose many supporters to the Crows. I would much rather be in our situation than theirs.

Agree. I'm looking forward to Monday so that all of this debate can finally be put to rest. -

And the other one saying that he'll make us pay if we don't select him... -
It's nice to know that we're not the only ones struggling.

I wouldn't be against that idea. I disagree about Gawn though; he was in and out of the side in 2011 and missed all of 2012. I think he is a fair way off from securing a spot in the 22. Edit: Assuming that what you mean by "right to go" is 'AFL ready'.

If we trade Martin, yes.

A few months late on the response, but it was Armando Galaragga. This is the best footage of it I could find, since the MLB removes almost all footage put onto YouTube.

I doubt this one will last the whole season, but I find it amazing that Bettman has overseen 2 lockouts in the span of less than 10 years. Surely his job will be on the line if this isn't resolved promptly.

POLL: Are you happy for us to take Viney at pick 3?

Couldn't figure which of the many JV threads to post this in, but according to today's Age the Suns are likely to bid on young Jack. -

Reminds me of The Big Lebowski. -
Let's hope that Howe doesn't steal votes from himself. Go with option 1!

I can't understand why so many clubs would be interested in a fringe VFL player. -
Beams is right in the thick of the Brownlow race this year. As much as I love Jones, there is no way that he has been better than Beams this season.

Let the "We should have taken Darling" posts begin. -
Brent, is that you?

How about replacing the first Mark with Brian?

I don't think any of Watts, Garland or Gawn are on thin ice. At the risk of turning this thread into another Jack Watts debate, he isn't even close to being on thin ice. Although he may never be worthy of his #1 title (I think he will be, but that's besides the point), he still plays a very important role for our team and will be a valuable player for us. I do like your list of targets/draft though.
-
And he sure as hell didn't deserve better opportunities based on the performances he put in this year. I wonder if he would have even been offered a new contract at the Dees if he'd wanted to stay. I'm glad that our former "leaders" are being phased out for a new group. You won't see Grimes, Trenners, Clark, Watts, Jones, Garland etc out late at night after games. They're the type of players we need to set an example for the new crop of draftees, not half-wits like Moloney.

Just confirmed on the MFC site. Get outta here, Brent. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/146699/default.aspx

I'd be blown away if McDonald didn't win most improved. Many didn't expect him to feature much this season, but he has become a regular and a damn good one at that. Blease has come along nicely this year, but I think that McDonald has this one in the bag.
