The Mitchell one was behind play so the umpires can be forgiven for not actually seeing it ( did i just say that ?) The Rioli fine is wrong IMO or they have changed the rules for a bump to the body. If it was head - a free kick and weeks - but the MRP deemed it body - play on is fine. The Sicily decision - the umpire called play on for a spoil - we laughed ( bitterly ) at the time - why did the umpire need to make any call for a spoil at all ? The spoil that was right across Bernies face splattering his nose - borders baffling and incompetent.

It is not decisions that are wrong in the last two - it is how they are worded. The Rioli decision is plain wrong - or they have just changed the rules on bumping without telling anyone... no head no fine... -

Sicily and Mitchell correct - I give up with Rioli decision. Its either high and he gets rubbed out or, as they deemed it to be the body he gets off - so now players get a fine for hitting a player with a legitimate bump ????? The bump is well and truly dead - as much as i hate to say it - if i was the Hawks i would appeal the Rioli decision - once they deemed it "not the head" - he should have been cleared. -
I made the mistake many moons ago of not plumping for Jones as captain ( at the time of Trengove/Grimes) by judging his capabilities based on his rather inane surfing tweets. ( I formally apologise again Jonesy) Firstly - I don't agree with how Viney comes across when he is interviewed but more importantly - how a captain interviews is far down the list of what is expected of a good captain.

The issue many have is they don't read what is written - It is a comprehension problem - if you read what GNF originally wrote - "it could take up to 6 months". Then you are tying this to the next statement as if it is a contradiction " in the coming weeks the Club will inform the media of this development". The only thing that not one will argue with is that until the ink is dry on the contract nothing is confirmed. (again - you will note that GNF has not confirmed that a contract has been signed - he was confirming what Hogan has told the club) -

I hark back to the Scully debacle - Quote his words - "I want to beknown as a one club player and envisage this will be the case". His manager Alistair Lynch " Melbourne supporters have every reason to be confident" ( on Scully resigning) - the actuality is that he was gone months before. I remain skeptical what any footballer says in the press or their management says about players re-signing. That a poster comes on here and claim inside knowledge and has some credits in the bank and shares something is putting their credibility at risk. But as binman says - if GNF is wrong then ummmmmm. he is wrong ! -

I am not one to umpire bash however ( you knew there was a however coming). The inconsistencies were mind boggling. Two little gems that got my blood boiling - Jetta getting head high contact - the umpire deemed he ducked so he called play on and within a minute Rioli ducked his head into a tackle and got given a free - to shoot at goal. Similar incidents except the Rioli's ducking was more blatent. When Bernie got his nose broken the umpire actually waved his arms in a play on motion. I get if he didn't see it - but to have a clear view, see the incident and then wave play on..seriously... Also - on Gawn - he was outmarked on a few occasions where he was just taken out of the contest ( not actually outmarked - he was not given a jump at the contest) - the umpires have go to wake up to this.... -

Thanks for the info - appreciated. The only thing i disagree with is this "If my info is wrong I will leave Demonland forever." - I would rather you just say - if your info is wrong then your info is wrong. I absolutely remember you being the first to relay the Mitch Clark news. Your scoops ( and other posters) rely on people believing or disbelieving - up to them. I take note of what you post - others dont't - no biggie. Either way life will go on. -
Unfortunately ( actually - fortunately !) - doesn't matter how well you do in the VFL there needs to be an obvious place for you in the 1sts before you are promoted - not a bad thing. As much as I feel for ANB , Grimes, Trengove and Michie who are playing really good football in the VFL it is a definite change in fortunes that we can't fit them into the team. How times have changed.

What I did love is the all round performance. To my mind Gartlett was our worst performer and he had some nice pressure moments. Absolutely everyone played their part. -

I saw the Mitchell incident slowed down - it was open hand. He will get off or a reprimand. -
Trouble with corralling him is that he can also laser a 20 metre handball to a running player. His hands are absolutely elite. I know that they want him to kick more and that lovely kick out of the middle to Brayshaw who goaled was great - but it is sometimes hard to kick when in the heat and like Greg Williams, if you can release a player with a handball from congestion rather than slamming the ball onto your boot and it going anywhere - I vote for handball. ( the disclaimer being you have to be very good with your handball decisions and Oliver is)
-
His handball technique will be scrutinised in the same way Dustin Martin's fend off is scrutinised. You can try and copy it but not many have got Dustin's fend off ability and Oliver has shown in his short time that his handball technique is just natural. He continually lifts his body and his arms high above the tackle and handballs at eye level as he is drawing tackle(s). Not only does he get away precision handballs but because he is being tackled by one, sometimes two players, he takes the tacklers out of the play.
-
Forgetting that our captain still has many miles left in the legs and Viney looks like a stand up starter for the gig when the time is right, I am astounded that a player who for the whole of his career has had enormous scrutiny and pressure ( some fair - a lot, over the top) poured on him, had a season and bit where he has finally blossomed and we are talking about him being captain ???? Why on earth would anyone contemplate doing that to him ?
-
It is not different set of rules for anybody. Lets chill and look at it without any bias - it is really difficult to tell if Rioli hit the chest or the head - no matter how many times I look at it. If it is the head he is gone - if it is the chest it is pretty simple - not gone. I saw the Mitchell incident slowed down and it is the open hand - not a fist - it will be insufficient force or reprimand. Mitchell is dirty - but the incident is what the incident is...

I suggest you drill a hole in my head and peep inside. The replay will be going on in my head on high rotation. -
What I liked is he had a poor first quarter but fought back in the best way possible.

I have maintained that it is not the quantum of TMac's error that is the worry but the very high quality of the errors ! Most players will make errors but the ones he makes, as you pointed out, are under little pressure and blow my mind. The kick across the ground last week when under zero pressure ( which fortunately did not cost us) is a prime example. What I do wonder is the impact on the team ? When the ball is turned over under little or no pressure and costs us dearly - do the players drop their heads - you would hope not but I can't help but think it is a confidence and momentum killer.
