  1. Do you seriously think the club hasn't made those points to the AFL ? I'd be disappointed if they haven't. Virtually all of the discussion on this forum has centred around those "defences" .. do you really think the league and the club are instead discussing where Jamar played, or why Watts didn't appear more often? You think they're sitting around watching replay after replay of the final 3 minutes of the Richmond game?
  2. I don't know why people are 'amazed' and 'disgusted' that the Age didn't bother with Don's statement. Just because the defences Caro referred to aren't in the MFC submission, doesn't mean they haven't been the subject of discussions between the club and the AFL in recent days / weeks. You can almost bet your bottom dollar they have...
  3. Everyone's overlooked Graeme Yeats ..
  4. Moreover, he's in in the all-important western suburbs of Sydney (if you think the election is actually going to be a contest)... Those who don't think the ACC is a politicised body should ask Jack Elliott what he thinks of their forerunner, the National Crime Authority!
  5. What's with the "so so flimsy" ? What is she, in year 9?
  6. On reflection, I should have made a gag about the "pep talk" they received at Essendon .. damn
  7. Bit of a different vibe to the 'meet-the-parents' meeting held at Windy Hill yesterday
  8. Aside from having the succession plan in place - and that can change - i don't think the other stuff necessarily disqualifies him from the CEO's gig. There's nothing extraordinary about a club president / CEO being at odds with head office. Ross Oakley was a controversial AFL CEO, loathed by many, but nonetheless stayed in the job for the better part of a decade. His record as Premier is neither here nor there.
  9. I beg to differ ..
  10. What makes it so? Bull has already been in charge of a multi-billion dollar china shop, a.k.a. the State of Victoria
  11. We are in their position - there are allegations against us which have not been proven. Have you torn up your membership?
  12. I'll only care if Jeff Kennett were somehow in the mix to replace him. Kennett has said several times he thinks we should merge with North, whereas AD is more than happy to preserve the status quo of an 18-team competition. People have pooh-poohed the idea that Jeff could become AFL CEO but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.
  13. I understand the sentiment hardtack but i'm also amused at the inability to distinguish between allegation and fact ..
  14. Hilarious selection of comments from Essendon supporters in the 'Hun today. "As a lifelong supporter of the Essendon Football Club I will be tearing up my membership." "As a 71.y.o lifelong supporter, I am finished with this club. To imagine these practices could go on unnoticed by club officials on the scale it appears to have done beggars belief. 100 years of proud tradition wiped out." "As an Essendon supporter I think the club should not be able to play for premiership points this year and should be stripped of all draft picks. You do the crime you do the time." Talk about perception becoming reality!
  15. These same words keeping popping up in the training threads ... it's making me nervous
  16. I'm not sure whether English is Kim Hagdorn's second or third language but that piece is barely intelligible."Waivers" used for "waving off" responsibility? LOL
  17. At least we won't have to listen to BT crapping on about the bloody "Weapon" this year. Boy oh boy wowee !
  18. If only there was no debate, and that the question had already been settled in the affirmative that Jack Watts was among the competition's brightest young stars .. We're not there yet unfortunately.
  19. There are more than 1200 users on BomberBlitz right now and another 800+ guests. Gonna be a long night over there. Good times
  20. I'm convinced you had a bad basketball experience as a junior Jumbo - first your love of Stef and now Jack By the way, when you said earlier in the thread that you look forward to revisiting this debate, I hope you meant it in the sense that you hope to be wrong, lest you seem to be wishing failure upon a player in which the club has much invested.
  21. Caro was on 3AW tonight and said she expected the AFL to lay charges within the next week. Said Bailey, Connolly and the MFC would most likely be charged, and maybe Schwab. Dwayne Russell pressed her on Jim Stynes, asking / implying that it would tarnish his legacy, but Caro didn't bite, saying she didn't think his name would be dragged through the mud. When asked what the likely outcome would be regarding penalties, she said the club would come to some sort of negotiated settlement with the AFL, as the Crows did with Tippett. You can take out of that what you will..
  22. pretty sure that's a file pic from the NT charges
  23. oh dear. the saga goes from bad to worse: Adelaide court issues warrant for Liam Jurrah's arrest
  24. I thought Matthew Lloyd had been confirmed as Thomas' replacement .. ?
  25. I hate the constant comparisons between Flanagan and other journalists. Flanagan is a colour / feature writer - his job is not to break stories or report the news. He's given the time (and he has the skill) to really practise writing as a craft - a luxury not afforded to a news journo on deadline. If he was forced to report news or break stories you might well come to loathe him as you do the others. That's not an attack on him either - I really enjoy his writing. But you can't compare him to Caro et al. He writes about the game in the way that Garrie Hutchinson used to do.
