It's a strange world when former Murdoch editor Rebekah Brooks walks free on hacking charges in the UK while Australian journalist Peter Greste and his Al Jazeera colleagues are jailed for 7 years for doing their jobs in Eqypt. There are a number of ways to protest against this outrageous decision and to show your support for Peter and his family, who must be living through a nightmare at the moment. * You can write to the Egyptian Embassy in Canberra and register your disgust: [email protected] * You can write to Peter and his family to show your support: [email protected] * And you can sign the Amnesty International online petition protesting the decision and demanding the journalists be freed: http://www.amnesty.org.au/action/action/33972/

The continuing saga of Melbourne's injury list - 2014
Grapeviney replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
According to news.com.au: "Cross played on with the injury against the Kangaroos. Cross did not leave the field and threw himself into several tough contests in the dying minutes." According to Dave Misson on the club website: "It was at the end of the game and we didn’t end up putting him back on." Never let the facts get in the way of a good story... -
Two weeks reduced down to one for good record. Really dumb act from someone who had just forced his way back into the seniors - reminds me of when Jetta got rubbed out last year just as he was showing a bit of form.

Good post. I don't particularly like the 'man therapy' ads running now either.

Turning history on its head: our 13th premiership

I kind of like the idea of North Melbourne returning to their original name of Hotham ) -
In the words of the great Leo Sayer, this makes me feel like dancing !

Still one of my favourite games that one DS. It was a far tougher ask than last week's comeback - we were 34 points down with 14 minutes to go in the final term. I think Bennett booted three or four - including a couple of booming drop punts from near the centre square - as we piled on 7 goals in a barnstorming finish.

What, like calling someone a troll? Fair dinkum mate, you fired the first shot.

Can't believe Abbott is still traipsing around in that bloody blue tie! Get over it man! Try adding a dash of red, looks very fetching. Red + blue - the colours of bi-partisanship..

Where are you originally from WAdee and how did you happen upon the MFC during one of its lowest ebbs?

Good to see in some of the other pics online that Brian, Brian Snr and some of Jim's sisters were there too. Does anyone know whether the Stynes clan are largely based here or in Ireland?

Love that shot of the members going crazy at the end. Moments like that are the ones you wish would last forever.

Yeh you could pretty much raffle it between Salem and Watts. Was good to see JW call for the ball in the second quarter and back himself in to slot it from 50.

You'd think they'd know that they're on a hiding to nothing on the sledging front at the moment. The dill in front of me was mouthing off all day about how we'd soon be at the snow. I told him I'd rather be at Buller than sitting in some dodgy backyard clinic with a needle sticking out of my arm. Morons make like that make the win all the more sweet.

There's more to voting than stats as we all know but fair dinkum Dunn returned some pretty impressive numbers today: 29 disposals at 86 % efficiency, 11 marks, 16 rebound 50s. 6 Dunn 5 N Jones 4 Jetta 3 Kent 2 Viney 1 Frawley

BT last night: "That's the hill - the standing room seats."

Such a great caller. Makes me wince to think of the majority of commentators we have to put up with here.

All Prime Ministers sup with Rupert - Gillard did, and so did Rudd, as will the next PM and the one after that.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Grapeviney replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon the reason they're not pursuing the AOD issue is that they were unclear of its legal status and may have even incorrectly advised Essendon that it was OK. Wasn't it incorrectly classified in the original ACC Report? -

He has made a statement, it's being translated from French into English as we speak. Merde! -

Cheats should be penalised on-field immediately - so at the very least, Sunday's game should start with a free kick to the MFC... maybe a 50 too.
