I must say I'm really looking forward to next week's Casey reviews and the chance to have the same argument again.

This one's for you Hood, I know you're the president of the Scott Morrison Appreciation Society Inc. http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-opinion/scott-morrison-interview-takes-on-pythonesque-proportions-20140704-zsw9n.html

The jailing of journalist Peter Greste

I doubt that the family are doing anything to jeopardise the situation - they would be in regular contact with the diplomats / foreign affairs people and would be taking and acting on their advice at all times. -
I'd say the stint with Casey is more about managing him, physically, during his first season, than it is about form or talent. Roosy himself has said that the kids are tired.

I wish the AFL would forget about moving us to Tassie and just give us a gun coach and great CEO instead.

I think this is happening now DL, it seems to have gone a bit quiet and I wonder whether there might be some progress being made behind the scenes. Let's hope so. -
I'm with you BBP. Nev of all people should know better - last year's holiday basically cost him the rest of the season and very nearly his spot on the list.

The AFL: Can they learn from others mistakes?
Grapeviney replied to rjay's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just 40,000 at the 'G last night for Carlton and Collingwood, the lowest crowd they've drawn since 1921 I think they said. I'm kinda glad that the AFL's unequal distribution of premium fixtures has bitten them on the bum this year, thanks to the poor form of the clubs who were in / around the 8 last year, Carlton, Richmond and Essendon. Those three clubs have all had Friday night fixtures in the past month, and the crowd sizes have all been well below what might have been anticipated at the start of the year. Will be interesting to see if and how the league can stop the rot. I can't foresee that the cost of going to the footy is going to fall in any way, in ticket prices, food, memberships etc. The rate of increase may slow, but it won't be by too much, the various players involved are all too greedy for that. -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 15
Grapeviney replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wouldn't be so sure - 3 of the 4 changes are forced, and i doubt any of them would have been dropped on merit if they were available for selection. That's not to say Roos wasn't annoyed with the run and work-rate, I just don't think he's making a statement at the selection table. -

Melbourne Footy @MelbourneFooty 13m Luke Tapscott has replaced Tom McDonald in the Melbourne side for Sunday's game. #AFLDogsDees * That's not an official club tweet BTW edit: they've just changed 'side' to 'squad'... -
That's all a picnic compared to this: http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-opinion/scott-morrisons-foul-bet-on-torture-20140625-zsll1.html

BT and Richo have this obsession with one of the pockets at Etihad, believing that shots on goal from there drift - or as they call it, "slide" - away from goal. Not sure how that works with a closed roof and no wind.. But it leads to these ridiculous passages of commentary from BT where he says "and the ball goes out of bounds in the sliding quadrant of the ground." WTF ?/??? Try explaining that nonsense to someone unfamiliar with the game.

Jack Watts on Footy Show + Trenners on AFL 360

The Footy Show kinda reminds me of The Sun newspaper in the UK - no-one admits to reading it but it has the largest circulation in the country. -
