WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN NEWTON
Grapeviney replied to Moneider96's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gee watching that vid shows how close we were to knocking off Port twice this year - the report card on season 2014 would have been somewhat different if we'd managed to get over the line. Arguably, it would have given us a real shot of confidence that would have spilled over into other games and might have snared us another win or two along the way. Shoulda woulda coulda... I still maintain that we're closer to being competitive than current results might indicate. -
I must admit I get more nervous seeing a question punctuated by an exclamation mark, rather than a question mark. Don't you!

It's time to jump on the bandwagon

Done. Love the bio's - especially the Kelly O'Donnell disciplinary memo for fidgeting on Anzac Day. Classic -
I thought all equations for you ended up with the magical number 186 .. particularly if it involves the cats

Sounds pretty good to me. Where do I sign?

But we won't make a 'killing at the gate' until we're a good side, regardless of who we're drawn to play. From memory, the crowd v Richmond was good this year, but that had the Hafey factor, while the game v Carlton was in the 30's and Essendon I think low 40's or high 30's. If we were around the eight, and these sides were too, then you could expect those attendances to double, but as it stands, they don't attract crowds that are much greater than we currently get to GWS and Brisbane et al.

yeh he kicked a whopping 12.16 in 48 games, many of them at half forward

Victorian State Election - November 2014
Grapeviney replied to Grapeviney's topic in General Discussion
We all know the footy journos come here to find yarns - now it seems the pollies are using Demonland to create policy. How's this for a responsive Government Theo?! http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/bayside/parking-to-improve-at-mordialloc-and-parkdale-train-stations-under-3m-coalition-promise/story-fngnvli9-1227104692793 More broadly, while I still think the Coalition will be returned, Abbott's making it that much harder with the fuel excise move and the foray into increasing the GST. -

The improvement would have been greater and our scoring higher if we weren't operating with a patchwork quilt of a forward line that was missing Clark and Hogan. -
Nor does anyone else. Besides, we'll get Danger next year so you could argue we got the best of both worlds

Interested to learn that in the 70-odd years between Federation and the Whitlam Government, the Senate blocked about 80 pieces of legislation. During his 3 years in office, the Senate blocked more than 90 pieces of legislation. Makes it all the more remarkable that he was able to usher in so much change in the face of an utterly hostile Upper House.

.. and a couple out-on-the-full just to complete the scoresheet. Also got reported. I still remember the start of the match report in the paper the following day: "It was a goal that belonged more to the soccer fields of Europe than the MCG..." -
Jesse Hogan's followed up his story with this great YouTube package that takes in Schwarz's three next-to-last games before doing his knee - when he was at the absolute height of his powers.

Very much so. Owing to your age, Demonland is only offering you a one-year contract to continue posting on this site. There are bonuses built in for humorous or insightful posts, and there's an option for an additional year if you meet KPIs, but this is basically the beginning of the end. The good news for you is that under FFFA (Fan Forum Free Agency) rules, you can join up at any other club site of your choosing, giving you the opportunity to post about teams more successful than the Demons. Beyond that, Big Footy and Facebook beckons...

Surely one of the highlights of year.. Still gives me goosebumps

So is the coach. I know for a fact that Roosy is rapt to have him at Melbourne, and I've heard the version without spin. -

There's a Robbie tribute on SEN right now, it's midway through an earlier long interview with Robbie, Finey and Geoff Poulter. Hopefully they'll put up the audio on their website at some stage. -
You spend your suspension with the GWS recruiting department. At first blush it doesn't sound that bad. .. until you realise you'll be trapped in a car with Phil Scully for 4 weeks.

It's a different game and goal, but there's one ripper which was obviously a contender for goal of the week or year which is in the existing Youtube and AFL tribute videos. It's the one against Richmond, where Robbie sharks the ball out of the centre, taps it again to himself over an opponent's head, and then slots it from what must be about 50m or even further out. It's at 1.50 in this video: http://www.afl.com.au/video/2014-10-03/remembering-robert-flower NicNat did a similar thing out of the ruck in Perth a couple of years but only kicked a point, not that it stopped commentators from frothing at the mouth about how it was the point of the century.
