Nice post Bobby

FWIW I'd prefer us to chase Gaff rather than Caddy
-
Good to hear!
-
true, just like Gawn getting a good run last year once Spencil did his knee, Fitzy will get a decent crack at Casey until Spencer reurns after 8 or so rounds?
-
between Shuey and Gaff they have the potential for another Judd / Cousins combo I think Shuey is worth the hype he gets over here and Gaff also seems to have the skill and class required to make it

I personally agree with the profiles, and like McQueen said, they pretty much sum up the thoughts of many on demonland, but what are the younger supporters suposed to think? Reading the profiles of their favourite players sounding like 2nd rate hacks?? I rememebr collecting AFL cards as a primary school student, cant imagine what i would have thougth if the profiles on the back of Garry Lyon's card read "Has been a great player for the Demons but these days struggles to get on the park through injury, needs to get his body right to have an impact again"
-
Examples; Jones - .. Even allowing for his bullocking style, he probably gives away too many free kicks but he is a vital, consistent player about to enter the prime of his career. Jurrah - The enigmatic match-winner suffered a slight fall from grace in 2011 when attention turned towards his defensive efforts. At times, particularly mid-season, he was caught in the trap of attempting the spectacular rather than doing the basics well but still kicked 40 goals and averages 2.3 goals a game. Dynamic, a great mark and a solid kick, he has pace, reads the game well and is a fan favourite. Although he needs to improve defensively and win more of his own ball, he is expected to be a beneficiary of Mitch Clark’s recruitment. Had off-season surgery to repair his injured wrist. Jetta - Does not get enough of the ball or kick enough goals just yet, but has hardness and resilience. Does this type of stuff need to be mentioned?! Its all true but why mention it on the club's player profile?
-
I noticed someone mentioned in another thread that the new player profiles pics are up on the clubs official site. More interesting to me than the new photos was the new text. Not sure what every one else thinks but they are definitely very measured in terms of pumping up the players tyres. Probably fair, but much more negative than you'd expect on the Clubs website where you'd generally find some rosy write ups? Seems like the frank, no nonsense attitude has even reached the PR guys? Perhaps Neeld reviewed each profile before publishing on the website?!

I'd be interested to see which of the 3 get the whole year spots, i'm tipping magner and couch because i think nicho could work on his disposal?
-
dont rate him
-
you sure about that? Glen Jackovich & Karl Langdon discussed WCE trading for Cale at the end of last year on their sports talk back radio show? Both of these guys are still involved att he eagles so i dont know that you're 100% right there
-
Trade 1 x Compo pick and Cale Morton for Gaff or even Morton fro Gaff straight swap
-
Hopefully our "Pro Scout" is all over this one
-
FD obviously taking an overly cautious approach regarding injuries etc? might see the 2nd 22 trot out for the nab cup?!
-
Sorry but this post sums up to me the blindness of our fans. We're more interested in supporting potential with the hope that they'll deliver us our dreams, yet we write off our current best performers becasue we dont see any scope for improvement?! Beamer has only been fit for a couple of years, IMO his best footy is infront of him
-
nice post Macca i've said it before and i'll say it again; i dont even think the captain is a overly important role on game day, especially if the whole team have the right attidtude
-
Im not a fan of this type of attitude, and it seems that ever since Neeld has taken over alot of people on here seem to have adopted it. Sportsmen at the highest level will all say that a fair whack of the game is played between the ears, so i hope Neelds hard lined approach isnt effecting some of the older guys confidence, which could effect their on field performance too. People used the job analogy for the scully situation, well what about for Brads? He's basically been demoted by a new boss who hasnt paid any respect to the job he had done for the club over the last 13 years.

Scarring the kids for life through the use of repeated expletives when Morton shirks a contest

*Flashback to RPFC's "Scully will sign because the MFC retains all of it's best young talent" rants!*

nice post regarding the first comment, I actually dont think JW has shown the glimpses of truely great play that Sylvia or Jurrah have. Sylvia has torn entire games apart (and then gone missing for weeks on end), Jurrah has been the match winner by kicking bags when no one else has, but Watts has never really had one of those games (or even a break out game as a former #1 pick). His best game to date IMO was probably against richmond last year where he did some good things and kicked some nice goals (one gifted from a free kick that wasnt there). That game was a good game, but i wouldnt say ithe dominated it off his own boot like Jurrah and Sylvia have. it is funny then that so many of us do put Jurrah in the enigmatic basket and yet proclaim Jack Watts in the "lock for future gun" catogory. I guess that all of the emotional investment into Watts being a number 1 pick might have somthing to do with it!!
-
I dont post at Bigfooty, but Biffinator's match previews are worth the visit! No suprise that he's leading the charge for that one!
-
Elite players in the comp are Judd, Abblett, Goodes, Swan etc I dont like when people break down elite into sub catogories
-
Watts Smokey - olddee's mate #7
-
theyre not learing a new sport mate, yes they will take time to learn some finer points of the game plan, but the really good players will play. especially In the forward line for someone like jurrah where the abridged version of the game plan is likley to be tackle, chase, get front and center to clark and kick goals?!
