Either way I'm pretty confident in the squads ability to cover 2 of the best backmen Ive seen in our colours..... Which I almost can't believe is possible to say

Salem just makes me smile everytime he gets near it. Under rated for his toughness imo. Gave out some bruising hits today

Great to see two much maligned players (BBBB and TMac) play solid games. Proof that you should never write anyone off

Ben Brown for sure. Will kick a goal or two even if he's not having the best day. Also let's JVR get the 2nd best defensive match up

I think he made some good points and agree with most of what he said.
Everything apart from 'they were found out in the finals'.
Our inaccurate kicking caught up with us. I don't think out game style failed us. Maybe it's semantics to some, but I think there's an argument to say we let ourselves down, more so than got found out by opposing teams in those 2 finals.
I agree with the instability and the question mark about whether our gamestyle will hold up again.

Was trying to have a break from Demonland until the 2024 AFL season started.
This has absolutely gutted me! Very sad news, I wish Angus Brayshaw all the best. He will always be remembered as a Demons Premiership hero who helped end our 57 year Premiership drought.
I will squarely lay the blame of this tragic set of circumstances with that piece of excrement and all-round knuckle dragging troglodyte Brayden "the thug" Maynard! Never forget that he is responsible for all this and Angus Brayshaw being forced to retire! Be sure to BOO him incessantly when we play the scum at Collingwood! 😡😡😡😡
I hope that Angus Brayshaw considers suing the AFL, Collingwood and Brayden Maynard for their lack of duty of care!
Was going to write something similar.
Gutted by the circumstances and ia a massive loss on and off field.

So much emotion in and around the club that i can only see boom or bust scenarios. I really hope the adversity galvanises the group, but feel the Oliver and Smith scenarios may have be too draining.

Good outcome. Glad we're not getting rid of all of the experience in the locker room all at once.

I'd go hard at Tom Lynch. As others have said, Petty and JVR are the future, but need some more depth in this area so 2023 doesn't repeat

Could someone please explain how the review of Alex Neal-Bullen’s “non goal” worked?
It was paid as a goal. The ball was taken to the centre and then a review took place in which it was deemed to have been touched after a quick review. I thought it was inconclusive.
Circus competition making the interpretation of rules and processes up on the fly.

We have a forward line built around maximising our defence.
What is the point of having a Jaguar of a backline and Rolls Royce of a midfield if you have to almost sacrifice a third of the game (when you have the ball) to protect the Jag?
We leave ourselves open to good teams getting us on the break as our entries are shallow, to non-forwards, and/or delayed so in traffic.
If one of you brings up expected score without using a lamenting tone - I am going to unfollow - don’t tell me me ‘should have won’ and ‘not too much is wrong’.
Just isn’t true.
We could/should have won for the last 2 weeks. Hindsight says injuries to Brayshaw, Petty and Melksham cost us.
You can pretend alot is wrong but the reality is fine margins decide finals and we were % off with personnel and % off with polish

I have this bizarre numb feeling. Last week stung more. Could see the result coming after continual missed shots.
We'll go again next. Hindisght says we were pushing ahit uphill once Melk and Petty went down

Afl is a corrupt piece of [censored], but realistically I'm way to invested in the MFC and this years flag hopes to carry the rage too much further into the week.

I hope we harness the emotion of this week for a productive outcome. Could go either way I think

Just watched the incident again and feel like punching a hole in the TV. Maynard carrying on first pumping his mates after that makes me sick. Can't wait to see him rubbed out and miss out on the rest of the season.

PODCAST: Rd 02 vs Hawthorn
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
About 10 minutes into the game I was completely relaxed, knowing we'd win by 5+ goals. Opposition coaches are scared to kick the ball long and risk turnover to Gawn, May and Lever. I hadn't seen such spineless ball movement since the Neeld era Demons. Question is, does the panel think teams will move the ball with more confidence against a side missing Lever and May? I'm quietly confident that we have the depth to cover them, I'd probably favour Petty going back with Thommo and TMac. Same Forward line as round 1 should be ok
