CASEY: Rd 12 vs Essendon VFL
Vefy much reflectsup my thoughts on both players. I'd add about Jefferson that his second efforts have really improved in the last few weeks, and we're good again last night. Still dont look instinctive, perhaps because they're not, but he's clearly working hard in that area, and on his contested work, and I love that (ie players working hard to address weaknesses and making good progress) He is a genuine old school forward who reads the ball super well, knows where the drop zone is and uses his body deftly. It was great to hear Ben Brown's comments about Jeffo, in particular that he has been working on his aeriel contest work, the implication being he needed to, in particular halving contests and getting the ball to ground (which brown noted is critical for key forwards). Jeffo was better in that regard, but still needs to improve. That should come though as he gets physically stronger.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
I don't want to get into a back and forth kev, but I would argue the evidence contradicts the idea we are fractured club. The most compellingu evidence is how many players have resigned their contracts in the last 12 months, several of whom, like koz, did not need have to do so as their contract had not yet finished. In addition to the young players I listed above, Lever, Maxy, Viney, Langdon and now Koz have all resigned or extended their contracts. That's more than a quarter of the list recommitted to the club in the ladt 12 months. in fact only one player chose to leave in that time - nibbla, who left for family reasons and was at pains to say at the BF how much he loved the club. Theres just no way that many players recommit if there is fractures or the environment isn't supportive and positive. As for long contracts not serving us well again I respectively disagree, foe reasons I've already articulated. But we will of course see. But leaving aside tbe debate about koz's contract, I think we can.both agree just how awesome it is that he is staying at the club. I was, and remain so, just so stoked when I heard the news. I felt like a kid again. Love it

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
So that a good thing in Kozz's case then -another club cant turn his head with a big offer. Certainly was in traccs scenario - the $ we are paying tracc couldn't be matched by other clubs and, as I argued at the time, that made it extremely unlikely that a trade would/could be done - even if tracc really wanted out And now we have tracc playing great footy, in a great headspace and showing great energy and leadership- so much so that fir the first time in his career people are talking about him being our next captain. Moral of the story- long contracts of gun players are a net positive for club and player.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
You are contradicting yourself kev. If contracts are meaningless then why do yiy have a problem with the length of Kozzie's contract. Sure it's great to not blindly buy into the consensus view. A handful of posters, me included, pushed back on the seeming consensus on DL last October and November that our culture was terrible, we were a rabble, that it was a fait accompli we would lose trac, Oliver and after the 2025 season koz too. The minority view proved to be the correct one. But often the consensus view is in fact the correct you one, and imo it is in this case - the koz deal is a total winner for the MFC. And ironically the Tracc example provides one reason how long contracts can benefit a club by giving us the goal whip hand in any negotiations. Some might argue clarry's situation provides a counter argument because it makes harder for us to trade him. But I don't give credence to that argue because it presupposes we want to trade him. Why on earth would we want to trade him, particularly if we can't get top end draft picks in return? By any measure he has been one of our best players this season and whilst still a ways of his best he iis clearly getting there.

I thought so, but could be wrong.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
They didn't jump kev. More likely they were pushed. The tigers knew they had a one in a generation opportunity to go to the draft with an unprecedented number of high end draft picks. And they took that opportunity. They won their 3 flags. They weren't going to win another with the list they had. And in trading our baker, bolton and rioli they made out like bandits and are setting themselves for the next tilt at a flag. On your point about other clubs comimg after our 'up and coming players', the following such players have all extended their contracts in the last 12 months (meaning the koz contract won't impact our efforts to balance our cap for several years - ie these players are all locked in): Turner JVR Windsor Howes Kolt McVee Jefferson That doesn't leave many up and coming players for other teams to target.

PREGAME: Rd 14 vs Port Adelaide
Agree, he looked cooked. I reckon it is an indicator how important Lindsay is already for us, particularly in terms of struture - ie his role as a winger, which allows us to use Langdon in other roles (eg high half forward, tagger, mid). Windsor as sub and swapping out with Langford or Lindsay as needed.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Kev, what causes unrest in football clubs is losing. And the goal of every single player is to win a flag. Players will be behind anything that helps a team win more often and increase the chance of winning a flag - including paying one of your top 3 players a salary commensurate to their impact and ability. Do you really think the tigers players were frustrated they parachuted Lynch in on a massive salary to (I think I'm right in saying he instantly became the highest paid tiger, a team that had just won a flag) in order to increase their chances of winnning another flag The club has done brilliantly to land this deal. It's huge for the club and our chances of being a force moving forward. And i would be completely shocked if there was anything but support within the playing group for the terms of koz's contract.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Cmon junk, that's just an appalling effort. I mean i can see that you are just starting out on your troll journey, or at least I hope that's the case for your sake, but this post is amateur hour stuff. I'd recommend spending some time on Big Footy. Work on your troll craft and get some troll miles under your belt. And work on a new posting name as to be honest that's where your problems start. Junk? Please- what self respecting troll would choose that as a nom de plume for a MFC forum? What about something like Flower Power MF Club Spud Dullard's smile

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Why would I bother googling? I wasn't the one making an argument other clubs call out the AFL or umpires. If you want to make that case, all power to you, i await your non vibe based recollections of comments from clubs a bit stronger than 'less than cryptic'. I was arguing the opposite. So I just googled. And gee wiz do you know what I found? Zip, Nada, zero.nothing. Not one example of other clubs calling out the AFL or umpires. Jesus's wept.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Seriously? I should pay more attention? You claim Collingwood and Geelong club have called the AFL out and/or even publicly criticising the umpiring? But the best you’ve got is you recall 'both Coaches mentioning the umpiring in less than cryptic terms'? So, in other words you can't give an example of club calling the AFL out and/or even publicly criticised the umpiring? Just some hazy vibes and recollections of less than cryptic comments (whatever that means) from two coaches. No recollection of what they were actually criticising? Or even when it was? Must have been super compelling press conferences. By your definition goody practically went nuclear on the umpires in discussing daicos suddenly getting a spike in frees after half time and saying he hopes all players get that treatment. In any case I wasn't spoiling for a fight, I was simply trying to highlight that knocking the dees for not unloading on umpires Is unfair as no clubs do so. And when that was challenged genuinely asking for an example. i didn't even ask you for an example - I was responding to another poster iin any case, thanks for going to the effort of replying - your post has proved my point not rebutted it. It's just another false narrative, like how bad our our culture supposedly is, that some dees fans love to amplify.

Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
Tha5a what I would do too, and i think it's probably the most likely outcome. But a lot depends on whether Jackson really wants out. If he Jackson is afamant he want out, they of course can play hard ball and keep him to his contract, but that would be a risk because nor every player is a Lachie neale which put there head down and continues to play elite footy

Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
As big a blow as it would be lose Jackson, Freo are well placed to cover the loss. Darcy is a terrific ruck (though his injuries are becoming a worry) and up forward they have Amiss and Traecy. And trading Jackson would really help with their salary cap, will surely must be an issue given the contracts Bolton, Serong, Brayshaw, Young are on and Amiss and Traecy will demand. Two future firsts and a decent WA player like McVee or JVR might get them somewhere close. If he wants out they will have to weigh up the risks of forcing him to stay - they'd want to be confident he'd perform to a high level.

BUT, if there is any sort of chance of landing Jackson i hope they do what it takes to get him - and whatever it takes might include putting JVR on the table. It really is impossible to replace Gawn - but getting Jackson in would be huge in terms of creating an opportunity for a succession plan Jackson is still young (24 in September) - barring serious injury he'll play another eight to ten seasons. I could see Max playing three more seasons after this year. That takes Jackson to 27 years old, hitting his peak, with still another six or seven seasons left in his career as the number one ruck. Perfect I reckon Maxy struggled to find synergy with Grundy in large part because he wants to be the man. Super competitive, he'd be happy to take every ruck contest. But it seemed to work better Jackson. And if they can make it work it might help to extend Maxy's career. Keeping Koz and getting Jackson in would be a game changer. All that said, how good would it be to get Jackson AND keep JVR.
