  1. I suspect that you are right - Neeld made it extremely clear to all in that preseason clip that he is very keen on the "role" and if that "role" was Fisher then he didn't fulfil his part of the contract - Neeld said that if you don't do what is asked of you, you will not play. So, Neeld really had no option if he is to maintain his credibility.
  2. May as well be as far as "visiting" clubs and fans are concerned.
  3. KC has him listed in the middle in the team above!
  4. I hope it more than stings - I hope it hurts him right through. I hope he really feels bad about it:not resentful, just really bad, and maybe embarrassed. Absolutely no doubt that Neeld will have told him exactly why, in his criteria, he has been dropped. Will it be good for him? Who knows? Over to you Jack - do you really want it??
  5. I actually deliberately used the zee rather than the s as part of my 'protest'. My concern re the Americaniz/sation of our game is that for instance there was once some talk of 'timeouts' and blaring canned 'music' after goals etc. Even the canned 'music' and innane interviews at breaks IMO detracts from the enjoyment of the game. Keep it simple. It is a great game to watch as it is without artificial supports that some other sports may feel they require.
  6. ...not necessarily. I know a few people who are really happy to have got out of Geelong (though most still support the Cats).
  7. There has been a lot of negativity about Jack and his development. Does anyone know whether the great RDB has ever made any public comments on Jack? Ron says "I have no respect for natural talent - it is what you do with to that matters". "Nobody has a right to be proud of his or her natural talents; we do nothing to earn them; it is only what we make of them that matters". etc etc I would be fascinated on Ron's thoughts on where Jack is - and I would respect his views far more than the combined views of all on this board. "It should always be a goal in any reflection on achievements, even modest ones, to take pride only in those which exceed our expectations based on our 'natural' ability."
  8. Not a fan of this idea at all. The main issue as has been raised is that without any background in ruck work he will not just be physically tested, but may well be very quickly physically wrecked...and even if not injured, he would most likely be ineffectual due to his lack of bulk.
  9. Whatever the legalities, IMO it is a bit sleazy for a sportsman to get involved with the gaming industry in any way. Poor taste if nothing else.
  10. He looks to be coming along pretty well now he is relatively injury free. And maybe he will be someone we can thank Dean Bailey for - Mt Gravatt I think was DB's team in QFL.
  11. It certainly would be "fairer", which may make it unappealing to the AFL. But, "conference", pleeeeaaase, lets not Americanize the game further - a conference is where you meet with like minded people to teach and learn - how about "sections", "divisions", "groups" etc
  12. ...and Trenners could give him a big welcoming tackle at our first practice match :-)
  13. ....and, add in what we should all reasonably hope to be a significant improvement in fitness and endurance over the next 12-18 months.
  14. Its a good start and (haven't checked the stats) I believe a big advance over last year. It would seem a natural progression from clearances to uncontested possessions - hard to get an uncontested possession without a clearance.
  15. All the best - just recover. Footy comes a distant last in these situations. Puts life all into perspective.
  16. We have (I think) another 17 games in 2012. Cale has plenty of time to prove to Neeld that he has the physical and mental attributes to stay with us beyond this season. Over to you, Cale. Do you really want it?
  17. But now we have a new very demanding coach, new game plan......maybe a new Bennell?
  18. Certainly true about Petterd - does anyone know why? Fitness? Game plan not suiting his style? Lack of happiness between him and the coach?
  19. Hail Mary I hope it is only the five and not the fifteen decades as is one version - I can't wait around that long - and Glory Be Our Father.

?like we are with Tom McDonald??
  21. Are you a homonymophobe?
  22. Getting any consistent performance out of this bloke will be one of Neeld's biggest challenges. He has frustrated me since his first season, more I think than any other player in over 50 years of watching the club - Saturday night however is one of the few times I have been reasonably happy with him. As I said, he needs consistency, and needs to develop into someone on whom you could rely in a tight GF finish. My heart still misses a beat when he has it in a tight situation. YOUR CALL, CALE; YOUR CHALLENGE, MARK.
  23. So Selwood will be out there ducking his head into frees once again next weekend..........and remain eligible for the Brownlow. Mr Dimitriou - you frequently talk of "integrity".......but obviously that does not extend to the MRP....or the "draw", nor ground deals, nor your project clubs. So just where is this mystery "integrity" Andrew?
  24. I read this as success for over a decade, not in a decade - just like the legendary Norm Smith!!!! Does that scare the shite out of you? It makes me very excited - some respond in different ways to excitement however. :-)
  25. The trouble is that so many of them seem to like to be show ponies with the grandiose holding the ball signal when some poor bugger has the guts to go in and get the ball and is ridden into the ground by some vulture, than actually look at the rest of he game. The illegal block is becoming a blight - but apparently not the cool issue of the season.
