  1. this could be the way for #4 to answer his (many) critics too.
  2. Oh no....as easy as changing your golf swing to improve your game!!!! Damn. I was silly enough to think that we did have some chance to improve eventually :-)
  3. I wonder, with the benefit of hindsight, Neeld may regret not having made Nathan captain.....not denigrating the Jacks, but was it fair to promote them so young when he knew the club was going to have a [censored] (start to the) year?
  4. 64 - that is a pretty damning comparison: drafting vs development is hard to say, but the club as a whole has certainly done very badly by comparison. Lets hope that the recruiters (whoever they may be) can get it right this year and that the current coaching / development panel despite their current pressure and woes bring whoever is picked along a lot better than in the past. A huge challenge for all involved.
  5. The trouble, the crux of our club's desperate problem, is that they need that support and experience but are not receiving it, so why leave them there?
  6. No you don't -- you need players who want to play for their club, their team and their own pride......or eould you prefer an enormous talent like Sylvia who couldn't give a stuff
  7. One cannot argue against any of that. FCS the coach and selectors must by now know exactly who the precious ones are, those who don't like hard work and will not put in the effort for the whole 6,000 seconds (Barassi's preferred term to 100 minutes) -- if the coach and selectors are to retain (or rather regain) credibility they must stop selecting these leadswingers right now. Not next week because the poor darlings don't have a VFL game this week -- right now. Reward the likes of Couch who even though he may not be the most skilled or talented, has put in huge efforts right from pre-pre-season etc. The time to act is now -- we had (hopefully) our "2012 186" last week and we must move on. Mark -- are you the real deal or like so many before you, just hot air???
  8. Viewing that clip still brings tears to my eye. Pre-knee we had an absolute superstar. IMO he would have relegated Carey to #2 of the era. It would be salutary to bring him along to give the pre-game address this weekend: how many, particularly of the 4+ year players could honestly look him fair and square in the eye? Very few I reckon. Sadly though I doubt if too many would feel any shame.
  9. and don't forget Eddiewood after their losses to Brisbane....again they did it just long enough, but avoided the "dole" handout mentality that now haunts us, as it does sadly to so many in our community.Nothing beats hard work!!
  10. I admire your optimism, and used to share it. But now I have come to the realization that the guy is a show pony, a poseur of the highest order. I thought heh was capable of winning a Brownlow, but he would be lucky to win the pizza voucher in the under 12s.PS: that was of course ref to #12 Today's press suggests, as has been said before, that Dangerfield willbestaying at the Crows. So, scrap that idea guys, PYFO, and do some hard work yourselves.
  11. Very damning especially those from an outsider, Kenelly, and Schwarz, neither of whom would know how to be on the arena without giving their all. Two highly respected players saying that SHOULD shame our guys into action: I emphasise should though one has to wonder with these poor pansies ( a FEW exceptions noted).
  12. I couldn't get to hear it - a podcast or a transcript would be just great. Interesting his views on Col, as an insider (or at least more of an insider than the vast majority of us posters here) as being averse to hard work, aka L..A..Z..Y! Many here feel the same, but Col either doesn't have insight or couldn't give a stuff, and I dont know which is worse. And I am not a long term Col bagger - in fact preseason I posted that I believe that he could, given application, win a Brownlow, and still believe it, but know he won't!
  13. Well, if you don't have any pride in yourself that is just maybe what you might do. And it may appear that that is what at least some of our players think too. We can do without those.
  14. ..so it is Schwab and McLardy go out onto the field and play without any passion whatsoever?Yeah, get rid of them and hang onto the moping, sulking senior players who don't seem to give a toss (and we know who at least a few of them are) and maybe '"don't like the Board" or the new hard nosed coach who asked that they work hard and put in. Are they the ones who wrote down the debt? Sit tight and give Neeld and Missen this season and next to get those who are asked to stick around to show when fully fit what they can offer, then reconsider.
  15. We will never know the detail, but he had been involved with sustained successful clubs at various levels, including the ultimate, and was specifically the midfield coach of a team with a top rate midfield .... we thought we had talented mids who just maybe needed tweaking.....and don't forget his appointment was widely welcomed here on that basis. It just hasn't clicked....as yet.
  16. Every word there is true. No pride and no passion. One wonders why they just don't phone in sick! As a serious aside, if he isn't in any way contracted to SSFC, is there ny way that Neeld could / should get him down to address the players this week?
  17. I, like even blind Freddie would, see that we are on different trajectories, but I see the W in WTF not as the usual "what" but as "why"?
  18. Great post 1858 Tell me, are YOU the psychological that this team, in fact this whole club, so desperately needs? To me the big missing ingredient is PASSION. Passion for the game, passion for the club, the fans, the contest. How does one instil this?
  19. Moment of inertia, with emphasis on inertia (and a different overall definition) would seem pretty appropriate ATM.
  20. as someone said, surely he has had at least an X-ray, and IF there is a fracture that should be pretty obvious. A bad result from a scan could however still mean a long outage.
  21. He is becoming the excitement machine that Jurrah was prior to his injuries and "other issues". To me he is a Robbo, plus teamwork.
  22. Surely we will finish 16, 17 or 18 without the need to tank. And I will say it once again - Jordan McMahon, not Bailey or any MFC player, kicked a bloody difficult goal after the siren to give us the opportunity to get $ulky and Trengove. And anyway, what good have all these top draft picks done for us? Essendon and Geelong, and Sydney have managed a resurgence without tanking, though Carlton made it an art form, and to a lesser extent Collingwood (just once) and Hawthorn.
  23. As JP pointed out, from a long list of top draft picks over the last decade or more, only Frawley has actually ever produced much at all, so why should it mysteriously start now? Our ability to develop talent is just appalling: maybe 'the club' just doesn't or hadn't demanded enough. ' The ' let's put an end to bruise free footy' movement has obviously died long ago. I honestly don't think I can bring myself to attend, watch or listen to another game the way we are heading. Call me disloyal if you will, but how loyal are the players being to the club, the coach, the fans, and themselves?? This isnt about game plan. It is all about players refusing to apply themselves.
  24. Seriously, don't you think this is already some sort of mutiny?? Some inflated egos maybe not liking to be told to get off their arses and do some hard work, and get fit! No, maybe it is too hard to train, and put in the effort to gut run like Cousins, Judd, Pendlebery etc And re your second paragraph: seriously again, who will finish below us?
