  1. Except when Sylvia has his jaw broken well off the play!!!
  2. I guess why not? IF he regains his form and general fitness, he is probably no more at risk playing AFL than VFL -- maybe even less so (unless he comes up against Fletcher who has special permission from AFL to stick his leg out at will).
  3. I expect that he wil be "eased back" through Casey over several weeks. An amazing comeback to this time though. Well done James, and his care team.
  4. Neeld is no fool, which is more than I can say of some posters here -- he is learning, as the players are learning.I just cannot believe this post header -- takes the cake.
  5. Unfortunately it was hard to tell who was the better, as ND stubbornly refused to play them both even when White was obviously playing with a significant leg injury in a dead season, and would have perhaps extended his career were he rested.
  6. you must have missed the "silky skills".
  7. A novel idea would be maybe to "take one week at a time". I could see us winning say 7 of the remaining games, or just a few. The team are more and more getting their act together -- they now need to do it consistently within games and between games. I am confident that it will gel; just not sure if it will be this year or next.
  8. IF we were successful on the field I doubt if so many would worry about this. The big problem is that we aren't winning matches, not that we have an innocuous bugler.
  9. Until someone actually breaks a leg, the AFL and MRP seem to think that tripping is a minor trivial matter.Well, I would hope that a tripper gets a leg broken before a trippee - maybe then someone will take notice!! And PS: it seems that stomping on an opponents hand and wrist when they are down on hands and knees going in for the ball is apparently minor too. Still, the only consistency from the MRP is their inconsistency.
  10. Biggest liability!!! To quote a Monty Python sketch (Grim Reaper) ....."what a strange man"........
  11. Now I wasn't at the game - are you suggesting Sylvia's nose was flattened through maybe head butting? Tapscott for a missed spoil, low contact, unintentional in the course of play,, minor impact What is the game coming to??
  12. I saw a clip on the Fasolo spoil -- a part of a contact game, but who knows what the "independent" MRP will think on any particular day (Fletcher'skneeing of Blease immediately springs to mind). Is there a clip I the other events NB Maxwell being dispatched to the bench?
  13. It would also free up #12 for some new gun mid whose dad wore it with such pride and passion!
  14. What frustrates me even more then his (apparent) fear and lack of intensity is the fact that so many pump him up for his "silky skills", which all too often turn out to be "silly kills". As well, the cries "give him time"! He has had already over half the average AFL career in years - how much longer do we wait for a number #4 draft pick to take a game by the balls and FCS win it!??
  15. Trouble is, turnovers cost, and his one consistency is that he does regular turnovers. Can he / Neeld turn it around? 5 years on the list (?4) and hasn't progressed in this vital KPI.
  16. Positives? Our highest score for the season against a premiership favourite.
  17. Poor bugger - as they say above, just cannot take a trick. But if well managed he should be able to progress in his footy career and live a long and productive life. It is however a lifelong challenge. As I vaguely recall there was a top rate Richmond player who "came out" as a type 1 diabetic. Can anyone remember who this was. PS MODERATORS - can this be amalgamated into the JF thread which I have just discovered has already addressed this issue?
  18. I guess if Neeld sees him as a tough player who obeys orders, then he is in with a chance. Pity he isn't as quick as his South Melbourne Sydney namesake.
  19. Were he to develop a body like Cloke of JBrown then it would be a great name -- let's hope.
  20. Thanks for the updates. I am glad that Martin seems to be back in the mix, and especially that Cook is making good headway. Would you see Cook as possibly being ready for a debut vs GW$, depending of course on the performances on Monday?
  21. Do you mean he probably owns a Porsche and a Range Rover?
  22. Melbourne B: 5 Neil Crompton 37 Bernie Massey 8 Tassie Johnson HB: 11 Tony Anderson 18 Brian Roet 40 Frank Davis C: 9 Brian Dixon 35 Don Williams 6 Frank Adams HF: 22 Bryan Kenneally 20 Graeme Jacobs 32 Barrie Vagg F: 4 John Lord 14 Barry Bourke 16 John Townsend Foll: 23 Graham Wise 31 Ron Barassi © 29 Hassa Mann Reserve(s): 36 Peter McLean 10 Ken Emselle Coach: Norm Smith If we ever get anything to match that I will die a happy man.
  23. Col is surely far far more talented than Brent: Brent has produced his best far far more often than Col. So who has been better for us? Brent IMO, though he has had a very disappointing season (but he ain't Robinson Crusoe - or as some would say Robertson Caruso - there). If both produced their best consistently. and put their inconsistencies down to whatever reasons, we would not be languishing anywhere remotely near the tail of the field.
